Chapter 25: Autumn Elections(1)

A new day had arrived at Ryugakure, the streets were bustling, many people were on their way to Ryuotsuki Culinary Academy.

Today will be Ryuotsuki's 5th Autumn Election.

The selected students participate in tournament-style elections where the winner of the event has the opportunity to enter the Council of Ten Elites at some point in the future.

The Autumn Selection was used to determine the class standing of the current Generation's first year students through cooking tournaments. Claiming victory in the Election can greatly increase the chances of students to eventually become members of the Ten Elite Council of Ryuotsuki.

A total of 60 first-year students were selected to attend the event; the first 40 competitors were selected by Ryuotsuki officials who supervised and assessed students during Ryuotsuki's Friendship and Relationship Training Camp, which was to be held at the university, identify and select those who stand out the most among the class. The remaining 20 competitors are decided by the Council of Ten Elites. The Council of Ten Elites also has the authority to remove selected students from staff if they feel that they are not suitable candidates for the Election.

After the decision of the 60 students competing in the Election had been finalized, the names of all 60 qualified junior chefs were displayed on one of the two boards, dividing the participants into Block "A" or Block "B" for Preliminary Selection, with 30 students in each block. Sometime after the announcement, all participants will receive a letter revealing the theme of the preliminary round.

The announcement of the 60 participants was made just before the summer holidays, along with the announcement of the theme of the cuisine that the students will be cooking in the Preliminary Selection. During the summer holidays, candidates are given time to experiment and plan their dishes.

Preliminary Round:

On the day of the preliminaries, 60 participants will gather in the main hall for an introductory speech from the principal before parting into their respective blocks. Each block contains 30 students and a total of 5 judges who are generally big names in the culinary industry, one of whom serves as the jury chairman.

Students are given one hour to cook and prepare all the ingredients for their dishes. The students will then make 5 servings to serve all 5 jurors. The students are expected to bring their own ingredients and whatever utensils they need to cook their dishes. However, the school provides basic equipment such as sinks and ovens.

Each juror would take the time to eat each student's dish and criticize them before giving the final score. Each jury can award a score from 0 to 20 points for a cumulative maximum score of 100 points. However, the judging is very strict, as the jury treats each dish as if the student preparing it should be on a level with a professional chef. According to Tanaka, a score of 50 is the minimum score for a "satisfactory meal".

The top eight students, the top four of each block, will advance to the main tournament. If two or more students series for fourth place, the jury will decide on a series by choosing a better dish.

The headmaster is Tobirama Senju, his hatred for the Uchiha Clan has stopped and his passion moves to cooking, he is also one of the top chefs in Ryugakure.

As for the Ten Great Elites, They were chosen by Tobirama himself, but they still had to prove themselves in front of Tanaka.

After all, Ryuotsuki only had elites from the elites, and even with almost a million Ryugakure population, Ryuotsuki only had at most 300 students.
