"Laura, you look beautiful." He twirled me around with a dreas that reached my knee.
"Thank you, James, you look good." Then he turned and faced the mirror.
"Close your eyes Laura. I'll give you something, I'll buy it when I leave you at Jerri's place for an assignment." I could feel him tucking a ring in my finger.
No. . no. This is not possible ...
I could feel the weight of the ring on my finger. I still haven't opened my eyes. He cupped my face and kissed me gently. I tried to hold my smile.
"Marry me Laura, I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Do you want to be my wife?"
I was shocked when he said those words. I cried on his arm, I was so happy. I can't even answer it. She kept holding my face while looking into my teary eyes. "How's it?" I quickly nodded and hugged her tightly.
"Yes! Yes James! I want to marry you. Oh my God, my make up." I'm pouting. But then James took my hand and showed me the ring.
"Do you like it?"
"I love it, thank you. You don't have to buy me a diamond this big. But I like James. I love you."
"Hey, I reduced the size from what the seller offered." We both laughed, then he quickly invited me to fix my makeup, before we finally went to the vineyard.
We also packed our clothes in suitcases.
A few moments later..
We arrived at the vineyard fifteen minutes later than promised, but he was happy. He did not even see his watch once on the way to the vineyard. I like this side of him, relaxed and smiling a lot.
His mother greeted us at the entrance. "Oh my God, James, are you okay? You're fifteen minutes late. Did something happen? You okay, Laura?" He panics because he hopes that James is always on time.
"Mother afternoon. I'm doing fine. I just got engaged." He pulled me closer for a hug and kissed my cheek, making my face flushed.
"Yes God! James, you make me happy! Oh Laura! Congratulations to you both. Come on, I want to show it off to my friends." She pulled us in for a very tight hug, as we both thanked her.
He pulled me closer to him. "Oh my God, Laura! Thank you, I know you're the only woman. He even got here late just because of you and he looks very happy. My grumpy son is now happy." He hugged me again and hugged James as well.
"You're gonna start calling me mom. I won't accept no." He hugged me again.
Then I felt James's hand, stiffening at my waist. I looked at him but his eyes were focused on my parents.
"Junk!" Low mumbling. I wanted to leave but James held me next to him. He whispered in my ear. "We'll handle this now. You will be my wife. I'll take care of you." I relaxed in his chest and sighed.
His parents looked at us. "Is something wrong, son?" He asked as he looked at my pale expression.
"His parents, Laura." He turned his eyes towards them. "You've never seen them on this show before. He doesn't fit in with them. They left her after the divorce and lived with their new family." He tightened his grip on my waist and then moved his hand to my arm and hugged my shoulder like a protector.
"Oh baby." Then her mother pulled me into her arms. "They came here because of Mom."
"Laura, dear. Looks like we're still meeting. I thought you were still with Richard, what happened to that young man?" I could feel James stiffening behind me, as if he wanted to avenge my father. I held her hand with my hand, and shook my head 'no'.
"Dad, Richard and I broke up the day that her mother found out about your divorce. It seems that being the child of a divorce family is not up to standard for a senator's family. So, thank you dad. But now I'm with James. I've met him before. These were his parents, Diana and John. "
"So well, it seems like you've risen to the top level of my son. That's really good for you. But I thought, you better find someone who's the same age as you?" My mother joined our conversation.
My eyes started to tear. I started boiling, and felt very upset! My own parents even judge me this way. They always do this to me. I feel like running. I felt so low in front of them, like there was nothing.
His mother was the first to defend me. "You're Susan, right? And you're Mr Baskara? It seems like it was my fault to invite you to our event here. I'll get someone to take you out. John, can you call security. I don't want anyone to hurt my son's fiancee. She will soon be our daughter, so you don't have to give an opinion on her decision in the future." He pulled me into his arms, and took me to another room.
"Oh, Laura. I'm so sorry I didn't know about your parents." He handed me some tissue, and kept hugging me until James arrived.
"They're gone. I will make sure that they will not accept any invitation in our area or even in our country. They have to take their business elsewhere. And thank you Mother, you are one of the cruel hosts, for calling such security. I love you." She kissed her mother's cheek and then came to my side.
He's laughing at her. "I know right, I haven't had that kind of fun in years. Thank you Laura! Now that guy's not gonna fuck with me." Those words finally made me laugh.
"Why don't you freshen up, then join me and Jonn to taste some more wine? James will be waiting for you."
He kissed and gave me a hug, before he finally left us.
"So?" I grinned at him. He pulled me to kiss "Take me to your room, James." I gasp. He smiled broadly at me, and grabbed my hand. "Come on. We'll do it as soon as possible." I laughed and followed behind him.
