Sunday morning in town Y.
The chirping of birds continued to be heard throughout this morning, a tiny brown bird was singing on a branch. Either he sings to himself, or to call a friend.
Lady Martha looked up, looking at where the source of the voice came from. He smiled,”Do you want to announce the arrival of a guest, a small bird?” Ask Mrs Martha.
In his hand was clutched by a water hose that he used to water plants in the garden behind his house. Activities he does every week morning. On a typical day, the gardeners do it. And today, Miss Martha is doing what she loves. Gardening.
The garden is full of flower and vegetable plants with a hydroponic system. Tidily lined and well maintained filled the back garden.
“Assalamualaikum,” the voice of a woman is heard behind him.
“Waalaikumsalam,”Mistress Martha turned her head back, trying to recognize the face of a hijab girl with two dimples that adorn her friendly smile. “Masya’Allah,Emma,” he said, then turn off the hose and approach the girl.
Emma smiled, then kissed the soft hand of Madame Martha,”Tante healthy?”
“Alkhamdulillah healthy. When did you come? Kyai Jamal said, you will be home next month,” took Emma's hand and invited her into the house.”Let's talk inside, Auntie is really kangen with you. Laras must also miss the soulmate,” laughs
“Emma also miss Tan, eat it right Dad said Laras wants to marry I rush to pursue the thesis so I can go home. E, I don't know the guy even honeymoon,” put on a sad face and pout.
Lady Martha laughed again, the best friend of her son has never changed since childhood. Always adorable but also attentive. Emma and Laras have been friends since they were in Kindergarten. But when Emma went to college, she had to go to college outside the city, because she followed her mother who moved there. Emma's parents had to separate. Because Emma's mother is determined to pursue her dreams as a doctor. The age of his mother, who was far from his father, made them often disagree. And finally decided to part well.
Emma and Lady Martha had a warm conversation until almost afternoon. Throughout the day they do trials to make cakes with new recipes. Emma also told me that she works part-time as a bookstore keeper. Because he did love to read, and the bookstore was a suitable place for him.
“Ngak perasa udah afternoon ya Tan,”by out the window,”Emma home yes, tomorrow play again if Laras already home,” smile, then grabbed a small sling bag that he put on the table.
“Iya,Laras must be very cool to meet you,” embrace the shoulder and rub it gently. Emma is like her own child. Madame Martha takes Emma to the bottom of the house. They were still standing side by side, while chatting small things. Since then it seems as if there is no end to the chat material they are talking about.
Emma had not yet left, and a black sedan entered the gate. Madam Martha and Emma followed with a glance until the car stopped right in front of them.
Thomas went down first, then opened the door for his master. He doesn't realize Emma's there yet. A hijab woman got out of the car. Black glasses perched on his sharp nose.
“Masya’Allah Larasati my daughter,” Mistress Martha ran towards her daughter. He did not recognize Larasati's new appearance. The hijab makes Laras look different, more graceful and beautiful.
“Assalamualaikum Ma, Mama how are you?” asked Laras while hugging his mother. After dinner yesterday, they decided to come back soon, before it was too late. They planned to ask permission before returning to city X, and give the antidote to the virus.
“Waalaikum greetings,Mama well. Subhannalloh, are you wearing a hijab now? Add beautiful ih,” said Mrs Martha happy. Her eyes glazed over at her daughter's new appearance.
Before long, Sakti got out of the car and greeted her mother-in-law. The man continued to smile like this morning, upon seeing his wife's new appearance. He did not expect, if Larasati will change his appearance. As Sakti asked, Larasati simply smiled without telling her the real reason. But, for Sakti whatever the reason for his wife. He's getting fond of the current Laras.
On the other hand, without realizing the three people who are greeting it. Emma was standing glued to the porch of Laras' house. His heart suddenly thumped, as his eyes flashed with Thomas's eyes. So does Thomas, why does he feel like he's been bewitched to freeze. A strange rumble seemed to tickle his heart. Thomas was fascinated a second time.
“Emma?” laras Teeth. It's weird, why his best friend doesn't see himself there. Then Laras followed where Emma's eyes looked. Larasati smiled, apparently there were two people who were fascinated by each other.
“Hah?” shocked Emma, she begins to realize the situation there. After his eyes met with Larasati, Emma was flabbergasted. Why he could not recognize his own friend, and even cool to enjoy the scenery that makes his heart rustle.
“Laras, I miss,” Emma squandered Larasati's hug like a child who misses her mother.
“Times anyway?” laras said teasingly,Larasati let go of a hug, “Not that you forgot me, because I met,” pointed at Thomas with his chin.
“What the hell,” Emma smiles shyly. “Eh, is this your husband?” looking at Sakti who was standing next to Laras.
“Iya, handsome right,” larasati laughs softly. Emma just sneered, but also smiled.
“I Fatimah, her best friend Laras, but commonly called Emma,” said Emma introduced herself. Cupping both hands in front of the chest.
Sakti doing the same movement,”I Sakti, suami Larasati,” Sakti replied kindly.
“If that is Thomas, my husband's chassis, still single you know,” said Laras with his ignorant smile.
“We've known Miss,” Thomas suddenly spoke with his flat face.
“Eh. Did ya? Meet where,” turned out to be the soul of Larasati kepo never changed even though he is now not an ordinary human.
“That, stored a book,” replied Emma shyly. Didn't know that the man still remembered himself. I don't know why it makes him happy.
“Already, ayo go inside. Emma you'll be home later,” pinta Madam Martha.
“What about Tan, I'm gone from the morning because. Poor dad,”actually he is also kangen with his best friend, but his obligations at home have been waiting for him,”Lagian Laras must also be cape, new dateng from a long trip,” said Emma.
They just hear Emma's words, because everything Emma says is true. “Ya already, besuk play again huh?” laras.
“Surely,” replied Emma, a sweet smile never escaped her lips.
“Thomas?” Said Laras,
“Iya, Miss?” would you like to help me Miss? Thomas smiled inwardly, but he displayed a flat and cold facial expression of his pride.
“You can drive Emma right? It's almost dusk,” pinta Larasati. who instantly makes Emma round her eyes. Emma wanted to avoid being embarrassed, and was told to go home with Thomas.
“Nevent gone, just get it. I've always come home alone,” Emma refused subtly, because the distance of her house is not too far. Only fifteen minutes on foot.
“It wants maghrib you know, I do not calm if you go home alone,” Larasati force, because he is worried.
“Mari Miss, I drive home,” Thomas spoke again with the same expression.
“Tuh right,Thomas just want to, already there,” Larasati push both shoulders Emma.
“You evicted me?” ask Emma,
“And you want to go home dear,” Larasati replied with a laugh.
“Yes already, I came home yes, mari Mas,Tante,”Emma bowed his head and said goodbye,
“You didn't say the same to me?” ask Laras, please,
“No, you're blabbering,” Emma replied and then replaced laughing.
Emma then leaves the Larasati house with Thomas who has been waiting for her next to the car.”We're in the car or?” Thomas hung up his sentence, though,
“If you do not mind, we just walk, my house is close and into a small alley, so the car will not be able to get home, ”tutur Emma shyly while lowering her head. He dared not look Thomas in the face.
“Alright then,” Thomas stretches his right hand,”Please go first Miss,” pinta Thomas then.
Emma and Thomas walked together under the dim twilight. With an incredible awkward feeling. Until they just kept quiet throughout the trip. No one intends to open the conversation, even if it is just a pleasantries.
“To here only Sir,” says Emma. After they reach a small alley to the housing complex where Emma lives.
“What's up?” ask Thomas in shock. He hasn't even had a chance to say anything. Thomas was too busy thinking the right words, so the distance of Emma's house was close as if he wanted to add a few more kilos away.
Emma took it slow,”Thank you Sir, sorry to bother,” Emma nodded politely.
“Sama-sama, I'm glad to see you again,” that sentence got away with it. Alamac.
Uh.
