The next morning, Malvin awakens from his sleep, seeing his lover lying weakly in a hospital bed, hoping that after he awakens from his sleep Rachel can wake up from her coma, but she does not.

Malvin clasped Rachel's right hand as he kissed her, "when do you wake up?" muttered.
