Rebirth: Bai Xueyun's

Rebirth: Bai Xueyun's
37. Just a transition

Xueyun was about to put on her mask and go to the Fangyan Inn, but the arrival of the imperial edict interrupted her plans.

Why did he suddenly cross the emperor's mind? Xueyun was confused, but she had to follow the imperial decree and go to the Imperial Palace with the eunuchs who had come here to announce the order.

The carriage swung far in the path of the palace before finally stopping in front of the Palace. And then, Xueyun was taken to the imperial study room.

Emperor Han was still in court early in the morning with the officials, so Xueyun had to stand outside and wait.

After looking around to appreciate the furniture and decorations in the study room, he had no job but to wait for the return of the emperor, wondering why the emperor had called him here.

After a long time, Emperor Han finally returned. Other than a few eunuchs, there were others who followed him.

Xueyun assessed the person and noticed his resemblance to Zhao Yunting. 'This must be the Minister of War, Zhao Xucheng.' He thinks to himself.

Did the emperor order him to come here because Zhao Xucheng had lodged a complaint against him?

Sure enough, Xueyun's conjecture proved to be true. After he greeted the emperor, Emperor Han interrupted his remark, "Empress Bai, I heard that Minister Zhao's daughter died at the prince Chen's residence a few days ago, and when Ms. Zhao went to the residence for an explanation, you asked the waiter to slap him in the face. Really it?"

Emperor Han scolded angrily, "How dare you, Bai Xueyun!"

By lowering his head, Zhao Xucheng could not help but smile when he heard what Emperor Han said.

The slap on his wife's face that day was no different from the one on his face.

Now, every colleague ridiculed him for being insulted by the powerless prince Chen, whom Zhao Xucheng regarded as a burning shame.

Today, he wanted to see Xueyun punished by Emperor Han, so that he could save his own dignity. Xueyun stood there stubbornly, answering Emperor Han's question silently.

Emperor Han frowned, his temperament elegant and majestic. "consort Bai, do you feel guilty?"

"No, I don't." Xueyun put on a brainless and impulsive face again, facing Emperor Han stubbornly.

Zhao Xucheng laughed silently, which made his shoulders tremble slightly. He was surprised at how careless the empress of prince Chen was.  He didn't even know enough to put his pride before the emperor, no wonder he would touch Ny. Zhao was so impulsive that day.

"You have another chance to tell me, if you feel guilty for what you've done!" Emperor Han got up and said angrily. It was the last chance he gave Xueyun.

"No, I don't!" Xueyun repeated her answer before she said: "It's because Zhao Yunting has betrayed ..."

Realizing what he was saying all of a sudden, Xueyun immediately shut up and observed the people around secretly, fearing they would feel something from his words.

Sensing that Xueyun was implying something, Emperor Han stared at Xueyun for a long time before giving the orders to the servants, "Give us some privacy."

The servants immediately left Emperor Han, Xueyun and Zhao Xucheng alone in the large imperial study room.

Emperor Han turned his head to look at Xueyun again, his face filled with a hint of impatience. "Can you let the cat out of the bag now?"

Xueyun looked around to make sure there was no one else before speaking, "Dad, it's not that I don't want to be honest now, but it's a matter of the dignity of the royal family, so I have to be careful.  I hope you can understand, father."

With that, he admitted his mistake and clarified the situation, but his tone was aggressive, as if he was speaking out of anger.

Before Emperor Han could comment, Zhao Xucheng couldn't take it anymore. "You lied! My daughter is a good girl. How can you slander him like that?”

"Defamation?" Xueyun denied Zhao Xucheng. "According to Zhao Yunting's servant, she had been in love with that scholar for many years. There must be a lot of people who know about this in your residence, right? Also, you can search for that scholar and ask him if I'm telling the truth." With that, Xueyun turned to Emperor Han. "Dad, please take a look at this matter and uphold justice for prince Chen and me."

"Zhao, is that true?" Emperor Han questioned Zhao Xucheng.

Zhao Xucheng stuttered: "Yes ... that ..."

“Is that true or not? Just tell His Majesty! Do you really want me to find that scholar and bring him here to face you?" Xueyun said with a proud tone.

Zhao Xucheng knelt down in a loud voice suddenly, “I'm sorry, Your Majesty. I think my daughter broke up with that scholar. I didn't know they were still seeing each other. My daughter deserves to die! It's all his fault!"

Xueyun noticed that Zhao Xucheng pleaded guilty once the scholar was mentioned, meaning she did not know the scholar was dead. In that case, both Zhao Xucheng and his wife had just been manipulated by someone else.

He was just wondering if Emperor Han knew about this.

"Forget over. Since he's dead, I don't think it's necessary to hold anyone accountable for this." With that, Emperor Han told Zhao Xucheng to get up.

"Thank you, Your Majesty! I appreciate your generosity and tolerance!" Zhao Xucheng kowtowed repeatedly before he rose up tremblingly, and he was dismissed by the emperor immediately afterward.

The servants entered again, guarding beside Emperor Han.

Xueyun bowed to Emperor Han, saying, "Dad, now the problem is resolved, if there is no more I leave now."

Xueyun already had a bad premonition. Emperor Han handled the matter so casually that Xueyun could not help but suspect that Emperor Hqn was planning something else.

"Wait." Emperor Han stopped Xueyun and said. "I heard that Dr.'s student. Lian Yaoping opened her clinic today, and she'll treat your father's arm on the spot. Since you also have medical skills, I want you to go there with me as my guide.”

Xueyun felt her heart beating fast. Now, he finally knew what was going on.

Emperor Han tried to take him out to see if he was Lian Yaoping's disciple.

This was the real purpose of the emperor. No wonder Emperor Han would choose today to call him and talk about the incident Ny. Zhao slapped his face, from which several days had passed.

Emperor Han must have started to suspect him since the day he saved Chen. Moreover, he was the grandson of Lian Yaoping, which made the emperor's guess more reasonable.

Not receiving an answer from Xueyun, Emperor Han asked: "Xueyun, will that be a problem for you?"

"No." Xueyun responded in a hurry. "I'll go with you, dad. But with limited knowledge of the medicine I had, I was worried that I would not be able to make a clear explanation."

"Don't worry." Said Emperor Han. Clearly, he was not really looking for someone to guide him. And then, he told the eunuch behind him to prepare the carriage.
