“It's okay. From whom?” ask Zack.
“A staff from GR8 Holdings.” Anna replied.
“Oh? Maybe it was a reply from my apprentice proposal. Later I check.” reply Zack.
“Internship? In your own grandfather's company?” ask Anna.
Zack confusion. After Anna learns of her identity as the granddaughter of the founder of a large company that she has been hiding from Anna.
“Anna, sorry. I knew today would happen. But what's the problem? I'm still your girlfriend, and you're still my boyfriend. Nothing has changed after this. We keep dating as usual like a couple in general.” said Zack.
“Pair in general? It is impossible.” reply Anna.
“Why is it impossible?” ask Zack.
“Because we are different. I'm just a regular girl and you're a rich prince. This story only ends happily in fairy tales or romance novels only.” replied Anna.
“Anna, you don't understand—”
“You don't understand, Zack.”
Anna leaves Zack in the cafeteria and returns to her dorm room.
The next day, early in the morning Zack was waiting in front of the girls' dormitory. Waiting for Anna to get out of there is no way Zack can get in. Zack could be mass-debuked.
“I'm sorry.” said Zack while giving flowers as Anna exited the dorm.
“Ah, make a surprise!” Anna was surprised that Zack suddenly confronted her with a bouquet of flowers.
“I just don't want you to feel burdened while dating me alone. Before you know who I am, our relationship has been smooth, ’kan? So, let's just say I'm an ordinary man just like before.” said Zack.
“Apardon received.” Anna took Zack's flowers.
“But you shouldn't have hidden it from me. I've been honest with you about my background. It's been almost 4 years and I just found out who you are.” Anna said.
“Iya, I know I was wrong. Are you hungry? I'm hungry.” reply Zack.
Jakarta, 2021
After completing his master's degree (S2), Zack returned to Jakarta. His grandfather (Zeruel Smith) can't wait to make Zack his successor. For him, Zack is the only worthy sole heir and able to succeed the GR8 Holdings company. The grandson he was proud of, Zack's needs were met, and his wishes were followed including Zack deciding to take the S2. Though his grandfather was impatient Zack continued the company when Zack finished S1.
Anna did not return home with Zack, but Anna followed a month later because Anna had to raise money to return and prepare a place to stay when she arrived in Jakarta later. Unlike Zack who had everything prepared from a long time before returning. But unexpectedly, Anna could go home sooner because there was one of the sponsors in the orphanage who was willing to fund Anna back and provide shelter in Jakarta.
“SERIUS?! Ok, ok, Anna! I'll pick you up at the airport later.” Zack said on the phone after hearing that Anna would be back soon.
But a few hours later, Zack sent him a message.
Zacks.
Sorry, Anna. I can't pick you up. I have a meeting with the shareholders. But I'll send my driver to the airport later.
Anna could understand. The guy she's dating right now isn't just anyone. Especially after returning to Jakarta, Zack has been appointed CEO by his grandfather. Zack is busy with his job as CEO which is quite time consuming.
Anna skirted the airport and headed for the exit by pushing a suitcase.
“Adrianna Gartner?” call a man.
This must be the driver that Zack sent. Inner Anna.
“Iya.”
Anna and driver Zack leave the airport. Anna told him the address of the house she had prepared for her. Since Anna does not know much about the streets in Jakarta, Anna just sits quietly while in the car and follows where the driver will take her.
Anna's car stops at a fancy but quiet restaurant. Makes Anna wonder in her heart.
“Why do we stop?” ask Anna.
“Sorry, Miss. I was ordered to bring Miss here.” replied the driver.
Hm, Zack must have told him to. Does he want to give me a surprise? anna's mind was full of confidence.
Anna walked into the restaurant. Arriving inside, Anna was directed to a table filled with a middle-aged woman.
“Adrianna Gartner? Please sit.” said the woman.
The woman did not even stand up when Anna came.
“Who are you, huh?” ask Anna.
“You don't know who I am?” reply to the woman.
Anna was confused.
“My son never told you about his mother? Well, even though your relationship has entered its sixth year, ’kan?” say that woman again.
Whahuh? So this woman is Zack's mom?
“Sorry for not recognizing aunt. I'm Adriann—”
“No need to introduce yourself. I already know all about you.”
“Oh, fine.”
“Nona Adrianna, did 6 years of living with my son make you addicted and can not be far from my son until follow him back here?”
“Yes?"
“That's why you came back here?”
“Sorry.. but I don't understand the meaning of—"
“Nona Adrianna, do you know why my son can't pick you up?”
“Iya, I know.” Anna clenched her hands round and round. Instantly his confidence disappears while sitting opposite his mother Zack.
“Because he's already a CEO now. He's not the student you know. My son probably liked you during college because he needed a friend who happened to be from the same country. But when he's already a CEO, meeting people who are from the same circles as him, he's bound to change. His heart and mind must have changed. He has standards for couples. Compared to the orphan girl who grew up in an orphanage, my son definitely chose a woman whose background is clear, raised in a versatile family.”
“This check contains 200 million for you. If less, just say it. I can give this every month to you.” Her mother Zack hands Anna a white envelope and leaves the restaurant.
Anna stared at the envelope for a moment, before Anna took the envelope and went out to chase after her mother Zack.
“Sorry, aunt. But aunt was wrong, I came back here not to follow Zack.” Anna said.
