Chapter 31: Coming to Lurk

Samurai Around The World #31.

Me, Allan, and Joseph went down the stairs to the 1st floor. On the 1st floor, everyone was gathered below.

“Three of you just woke up apparently. Good morning” Mr. Lerc greeted us when we arrived on the 1st floor.

“Good morning also Mr. Lerc” reply us three at the same time.

It turned out that when the three of us went down, it was very fitting when the cooking was finished.

“Food is ready!!!” helen shouted from the kitchen.

We all rushed to the dinner table for breakfast. We worked together to prepare breakfast. Someone prepared the dishes. Someone prepared food. Someone prepared a drink. After we finished preparing everything, we all sat on chairs around the dining table.

“Happy thenaannn!!” we all scream at the same time.

We all ate the food that Helen had served. All side dishes taste good in the mouth. The bitter and savory sweet salty taste fits the composition in the mouth.

“Enak once food” says Joseph praises his food Helen.

“Indeed the cuisine of young people with different tastes” Mr. Mark also added.

“Thank you very much if the food is good. I take the ingredients fresh and that's what makes the food taste more delicious” Helen was grateful for being praised for the food made.

We resumed breakfast in the morning with voracity and enthusiasm. Not long after, the food that was served earlier had been exhausted.

“Heeeeekkkkk!! I am so full of my stomach this” Allan said while burping.

“Prepare yourself with your stomach Allan. Today we are going on an adventure to the headquarters of Darkness and the Moon Devil. Mending you, Joseph, and Girou rushed to take a shower. Because the others have taken a shower. Faster departure will be better also later” Mr. Mark also told us to take a shower in the morning before leaving.

“Each Mr Mark” says the three of us together.

The three of us went up to our room to get our own toiletries. After taking the toiletries, the three of us split into three empty bathrooms.

It was not until 10 minutes, we finished our bath and were ready for adventure today.

After preparing the items needed during the mission, Mr. Mark's team and Mr. Mack's team entered the 2 humvees we brought on the way to Lakselv. For the driver is still the same as the departure time to Lakselv. At exactly 07:00, we set off for the designated spot to scout.

It was not until half an hour, we all arrived at a place quite far from the city. The place has many trees that are high and slightly huddled and suitable to be a headquarters because the place is difficult to reach if using a regular car.

“We put the Humvee here. Actually we can get closer to the base, but the road will be more difficult to pass, and it will be terrible if something happens that we do not all want. So we better walk to his place”, Mr. Mack told us.

We all followed Mr. Mack's orders to walk to the spot to scout the Darkness and Moon Devil headquarters.  After walking for about 45 minutes, we arrived at a place that was quite hidden but the headquarters of Darkness was still visible.

“Actually the headquarters of the Moon Devil are in the area around here as well. The difference was that the Moon Devil Headquarters was divided in several regions and was not centered in one place. But if this Darkness is only centered somewhere as you can see now” Allan explained to us all.

“For now we just split up. Use this communication tool if you want to report something or else can also report the results found” Mr. Mack also gave a Walkie-talkie to us all as a communication tool when stalking.

After everyone took the Walkie-talkie, we all immediately scattered around the headquarters from Darkness. I also split up to find a suitable place to scout and not be seen by the enemy. And I chose to lurk in the northeastern part of the Darkness headquarters. I also took the binoculars I brought to see the current state of Headquarters.

The spirit in the morning was felt at the headquarters. All the members work as themselves. Some were cleaning the headquarters, some were counting the stock of weapons in the warehouse, some were patrolling to maintain the security of the headquarters, some were checking the condition of permanent, semi-permanent, heavy artillery, or who walked like a tank and others even though it was at the end of my binocular vision limit because the headquarters that Darkness owned was very wide, so it was very difficult to see from end to end of the headquarters.

I also continued to use my binoculars to see the various sides and corners of the headquarters I could see. There's still no new information I can find. We are always updating ourselves. We continued to do it until the evening came.

And a dark night came. Me and the others still haven't found any new information. We all rested where we lurked with makeshift sleeping equipment covered with some obstructions such as leaves or twigs so that our existence is not visible to anyone.

The morning of tomorrow.

Hours 5.30. I woke up from a good night's sleep. I also woke up with a state of leaves and twigs that slightly enveloped me because last night I used as a tool to disguise my existence. Because it will be troublesome if it is caught by the enemy. I try to stretch my body so that I don't feel sleepy anymore.

“Everything is up?” ask Mr. Mack of HT

“Already Mr Mack” replied Allan.

“Good then. Report your circumstances and if any information is found can be directly conveyed here” tell Mr. Mack to us.

“Start from myself first. After that, it will be you. So right now I'm still doing okay. No one's been patrolling the morning around me this morning. To date, there is no new information that I have found. Please change to report” Mr. Mack also exemplify to us.

We all follow the reporting style exemplified by Mr. Mack. And we took turns reporting on our current situation.

And until the last one reported no new information was obtained.

“…….There is no new information that I get Mr. Mack” said Joseph as the last to report from all of us

“Haaahhh. If you haven't found the information. But we all have to memorize all the habits that occur in this headquarters and if possible, look for a gap from this headquarters so that we can use it when we want to attack this headquarters later. Everyone understands?” ask Mr. Mack to us.

“Understand Mr Mack” says we are all at the same time.

“Good if everyone understands. Resume the surveillance and report it in case something happens Mr Mack's message to us.

We all continued our reconnaissance.

I also took my binoculars that I used yesterday to scout the Darkness headquarters on the second day.

Almost everything is the same as yesterday. The morning activity at the headquarters began at 08:00. But this time we were given a different task. To memorize every activity that occurred in this headquarters and look for the attack gap from this headquarters as well.

Some time while lurking there was the sound of the footsteps of guards patrolling around where I was lurking. But they couldn't see and feel my existence because I was wearing some camouflage tools like leaves and twigs taped to a shirt and I wore it to cover my entire body.

And in the middle of lurking

“Hei Girou, do you remember the secret of Darkness that keeps their artillery afloat even in winter?” allan suddenly asked me through Handie Talkie.

“Hmmmm which do you mean Allan?” I asked to go back because I was confused.

“What I showed you when I was in Oslo. About our guess regarding the existence of a mechanism system why their heavy artillery such as tanks survive to pass through the thick snow.”.

I also try to remember it.

…..And as Allan said, around their fortress were cannons covered with snow, which may have been their disguise. And when Allan showed me another picture, there was a well-parked tank. And when Allan shifted the other image, there was a line of tanks that were likely on patrol guarding the fort.

“Maybe they have a system in place to keep their artillery from freezing and from operating because of the snow. Did you get any information about such an artillery system?....”.

“Oh that's yes. Yes yes yes. But the visibility of my binoculars can't reach the line of tanks you're talking about. Actually you can see it but run away from here. You just move to that artillery field if you don't see it.  The place seems to be in the western region of the headquarters. But if you want to move there, be careful. For sure for such an artillery territory will be heavily guarded by the guards. That's my message to you” I also give an appeal to Allan if you want to see more clearly the area that has artillery.

“Siap Girou's. But it seems it could be later. Because around me a lot of soldiers are patrolling” Allan told me.

“Ya already then. Continue your reconnaissance”

The Handie Talkie connection was cut off.

While stalking, I memorized the various kinds of habits that occurred in that headquarters. Even the habits of the guards patrolling around me I started memorizing them. But for now I still have not found the defensive gap from the Darkness headquarters. From what I saw, there was no defensive gap in sight. I can only breathe too.

I kept on staking and lurking. And suddenly, Joseph shouted through his HT.

“That's it!!”
