Simon's Bride

Simon's Bride
31. Rescue team

Simon stopped suddenly, he saw Anna slumped on the ground with both hands clasping the grass. Ten steps in front of him, Leon stood in front of a man crouching behind the boy. A knife was placed against Leonard's neck.

Simon's face paled, his body trembling, the light from their flashlight lying on the ground revealing the grin from Leon's captive face.

"You've been playing this for too long, Em. You shouldn't have made it hard. We should've arrived at the airport and already left for our new home."

Anna got up very slowly. Both of his eyes stared at Martin unblinking.

"Martin, you want me to come with you and end this, don't you?"

"You know what I want, Em."

"Then let go of the boy. Let him walk here, then I'll walk towards you."

"Ann ...." Simon looked at Anna, and saw her clenching her teeth.

"He wants me, Simon. As soon as the knife comes off and Leon walks in, bring Leon along as soon as possible. Go all the way ...."

After the remark was over, they all heard the roar of the helicopter in the distance.

"You hear that, Martin? Those are the people who are looking for the boy. I'm sure it's not just one, they're looking all over the island. Our business could get longer if we meet them. You better get the boy back to his father, and then I'll come back to you."

Martin looked up at the sky, he saw nothing, but the voice was there, They had all heard it. "alright. But you walk here first!" exclaim Martin.

Anna nodded.

"Ann ...." Simon looked at Anna, shaking his head slowly.

Anna smiled. "I told you to keep Leonard away from me, Simon. It would be dangerous for him .. I'm not afraid of Martin if I face him alone. Take Leon far away, Simon .. Help has come, you heard it too."

"Hurry now!" shouted Martin. I saw Anna talking to Simon.

Anna took two steps, then stopped.

"Keep that knife away, Martin!" exclaim Anna. Looking at Leon who paled with melted tears, the child cried without a sound.

"Good! But keep walking!"

Anna stepped back when she saw Martin pulling his arm from Leon's neck. The man was already standing upright with one arm holding Leon's upper arm.

When she was about to arrive, Anna stopped again.

"Leon ... now go to your Daddy" said Anna.

Leon nodded, but he stopped because Martin's arm was still holding him.

"Get your hand off, Martin. Let's get out of here. Before these men who were looking for father and son came."

Martin's arm slipped off, Leon took a slow step at first, then galloped towards Simon.

Anna felt her arm being pulled forcibly, then Martin half dragged her step away from the place. Anna turned her head for a moment when in quick steps she and Martin moved away. His gaze met Simon's eyes which looked at him with determination. Ann had no idea what the man was thinking. To be sure Anna was relieved, Leonard was already in his father's arms. When something happens in this escape with Martin, Anna will have no regrets. No one else was a victim. A smile spread across Anna's lips, saying goodbye to Simon and Leon.

Simon and Leon stare until Anna and Martin's shadow is lost in the darkness. The sobbing that Leonard had been holding was now gone. He hugged his father and cried bitterly.

"Daddy ... Mum ...."

"Shhhh ... Daddy knows. We're gonna help Mam Ann. Daddy Claude must have come."

Simon had just risen to his feet, as he was surrounded by several men who had appeared from behind the trees. The men were dressed in black, their weapons pointed at him.

"Who ...," said Simon, hope rose in his heart. He said his family had arrived.

Another man emerged from the darkness. With one hand gesture from him, the weapon that had been pointed at Simon was simultaneously lowered.

"Are you okay, Bernard?" ask the man.

"Blaird's!" exclaim Simon. He looked around. "Where's Vincent!" abugn.

"I'm here" whispered a voice emerging from behind a tree.

Leonard immediately recognized the voice. He ran while crying towards Vincent who was already crouching with both arms stretched out.

"Uncle!" Leonard was crying loudly.

"Yes, My Lion. Uncle's here."

"You have arrived" Simon said in a relieved tone.

"Already since. We haven't acted because the man is holding Leonard. You okay?" ask Vincent.

Simon nodded. "It's just a small wound" he said, raising the right arm that was pierced by a knife by Martin.

Blaird's closing in. Vincent's friend immediately shone on Simon's arm and examined him.

"Go with Leon to the pickup. Our people will take you there" said Blaird.

"No ... Leon's mother's teacher ..." Simon stopped saying as Leon's hand reached toward him.

"Why?" ask Simon.

"Dad .. please bring Mam back, please" Leonard said.

"Certain ... Dad and Uncle Vince will bring him back. Leon promises to be strong and wait for Dad."

Leon nodded. One pat on his cheek from Vincent made him turn his head.

"Daddy Claude and Daddy Alric will be there. So don't be afraid. Leon went with Uncle Blaird, okay?"

Leon nodded.

"So, I didn't go to the party?" ask Blaird.

"No Blaird. I went with team 2. You've contacted everyone .. I think another team is approaching. Take Leon. Alric and Claude are waiting."

Blaird took off the black jacket he was wearing, and put it on Leon.

"OK, come. We go," said Blaird.

Leon has moved into Blaird's arm. A kiss from his father and uncle landed on his forehead before Blaird took the boy away with several guards escorting them.

"That guy won't be able to go anywhere. This place is surrounded." Vincent takes off his jacket and throws it at Simon.

"Wear it, Simon!"

Simon nodded, putting on a jacket that felt warm on his body.

"What weapon did he have just that knife?" ask Vincent.

"I don't know. Don't take any chances. Just shut him down immediately!" said Simon.

"That's my plan" said Vincent.

Together with the few remaining men they walk towards where Martin and Anna disappeared. Vincent is seen talking through the communication tool he uses. Not long after that he grinned.

"What's wrong?"

"They found it."

"Martin and Anna?"

"Yes." Yeah."

"Show me the direction, hurry up Vincent!"

"Patience. He had the woman as a hostage. We have to be careful."

Simon took a deep breath. He knew Vincent was right. This kind of thing Vincent knows better how to act. Simon hopes Anna doesn't do something to anger Martin. Lastly seeing Anna's smile before the woman was pulled away by Martin, Simon felt as if Anna did not feel fear or worry. It was as if the woman was ready to face anything, including death at the hands of her husband.
