Simon breathed a sigh of relief to see Anna behaving as usual when they returned from the shore. Anna smiled, hugged, responded to the joke, and answered the question posed to her.
After chatting for a while, Simon looked at the watch and decided it was time to drive Anna home.
After saying goodbye and getting in the car. Anna's attitude was different. His smile was gone, there was no conversation at all, just silence and let the silence spread. Simon let it go, letting Anna get busy with her own thoughts.
After entering the path leading to Anna's cottage, Simon asked with fixed eyes gazing towards the front.
"Tomorrow you're starting to go back in, aren't you?"
Anna, who had been pensive, blinked her eyes, then replied stuttering. "Tomorrow?"
"Yes. You're back in school tomorrow, right? Mrs Earlier. Sanders told me." Simon stopped the car when he reached the front yard of Anna's cabin.
"Ah, yes. That's right."
"Prepare early in the morning. We'll pick you up."
"What's!? That's not necessary. I can go alone."
"I know that. But what's wrong with going together."
Anna exhaled a long breath. Simon's tone of voice sounded firm, he was sure the man was ready to clash with him. But Anna did not want to serve the man, she felt tired.
"It's up to you" said Anna, trying to open the car door. But the door would not open at all. He turned to Simon.
Simon smiled looking at Anna who was looking at him. At first the woman's face was confused, then turned upset when she knew Simon had deliberately not let her out of the car.
"Open the key!" anna's orders.
"No. I need to talk to you."
"I'm tired. I'm not talking."
"You just spoke, dear Ann," Simon said, chuckling.
Anna narrowed her eyes, looking at Simon who was looking back at her with raised eyebrows. The man had since seemed ready to clash his mouth and had dozens of questions he wanted to ask him. Anna won't be easy to escape.
Confined in a car and unable to do anything, Anna finally leaned back in the chair, staring at the veranda of her cottage while she lay her arms around.
"Speak .. what do you want to say."
"Don't say, but ask."
"I listen .. but to answer it or not is entirely my right, my decision."
Simon shook his head. "No. You have to answer, but I give you some leeway. When you're going to answer it is your decision, but it still has to be answered."
Simon laughed when he heard Anna grunt.
"How old are you?" ask Simon.
"Twenty-six."
"How many years did you get married?"
"More or less .. five or six years." Anna laughed blandly after saying that sentence. "I even forgot when I got married ..it's not something I want to remember."
Simon was just about to say the next question as Anna turned her head with one palm raised, stopping her speech.
"Wait on! What exactly are you asking all that for!?
Simon set his tone to sound convincing. "Ann .. We're friends, aren't we? You've even told me a little bit about your life with Martin before. I want to know all about you. A friend must know all about his best friend's life, a friend can also be trusted to be a place to tell everything."
Anna smiled at Simon hearing his words.
"That's reciprocal. You've asked two questions. I'll ask you too. One question from you, then I also have the right to ask one." Anna smiled triumphantly at Simon's shocked face.
"How's it?" ask Anna.
Simon looked frowned.
"alright. The rules are the same for me. All the questions I'll answer, but when I answer them is my decision."
"Agreed!" anna answered excitedly, she moved towards Simon.
"How old were you when Leon was born?"
Simon was silent for a moment, then a wry smile fell on his lips. If she answers Anna's question, she can answer two questions at once. Anna knows how old Leon is. If he knew how old Simon was when Leon was born, then Anna would know how old he was right now. Anna just added.
"Twenty-five" replied Simon.
Anna counted in her heart. Adding to Leon's age and finding Simon's age was 31.
A smile on Simon's lips. Knowing that her guess was correct, Anna was guessing her age.
"My age is 31" Simon added without being asked.
Anna looked at the man's smile and knew if Simon knew what he was thinking.
"next? What other questions? One more question and then it's my turn." Simon waited for Anna who seemed to be thinking what question he would ask next.
"Should I help? Maybe you want to know why Mary and I never got married?" Simon ended his words with a smile when he saw Anna directly looking at him with a surprised face.
"You and Mary never got married?" tanyanya confusion.
Simon shook his head.
"That's just your guess, isn't it?" Simon moved down the back of his chair. He stared straight at Anna's porch and began the story without being asked.
"I made a mistake in the past. But if I may say so, I never regret it. Leonard is not a mistake, he's a miracle ... I met Marylin at a nightclub. He's a worker there. It was .. well .. I spent all my time just having fun. Wasting money, going wherever I want and doing whatever I like." Simon laughed, he turned to Anna and winked.
"I'm sure that Joanna and Claude used to want to strangle my neck and beat me all out." Simon's laughter echoed in the car, making Anna's lips involuntarily curl with a smile. He knew from Simon's laughter that Claude and Joanna had never done that.
"I am the source of trouble for both of them. Yoana said, I'm a very naughty boy, very troublesome and he'll never want to take care of me again if I keep making trouble."
"But he keeps doing it .. take care of you" Anna said.
Simon nodded. "Yes .. although he said he would kill me when he knew the trouble I had made, when he met, all he could do was pull my ear, but it hurt a lot, until it felt like breaking up."
Simon and Anna both laughed at the scene.
"Those are the ones who solved all the mess I made. Including with Marylin ... Mary and I are dating. I like her because I think she's so pretty."
"She's still beautiful to this day" praised Anna.
Simon nodded. "Now, after we became a family because of Catty and Claude's marriage, I know that Mary liked me because of my cheerful, caring attitude. I am handsome and also very seductive. My body wasn't as big as it is now, so Mary wasn't afraid of me. At that time Mary had a tendency to be afraid of men of great stature."
Simon heard Anna grunt.
"Why are you snorting?" tanyakanya.
"Hear those words. You praise yourself, Simon."
Simon laughs. "I am so. I have been flirting for a long time. Wanna try?"
Simon reached out his hand, Anna immediately moved away until her body stuck to the car door.
"Stop! Just continue with your story!" exclaim Anna.
Simon looked at Anna's expression.
"Short story, Mary was pregnant .. I was confused and told her to come to my sister. I want them to make the decision for me."
"God ... "
Simon leaned back and placed both his hands behind his neck.
"I'm a bastard, right? That's nothing compared to what I did then. I disappeared, I went here. Stay on this island with Hamilton. Waiting for whatever Claude will decide."
"Then?"
"Nothing happened .. I just kept quiet, kept that fact and the jerk off, I was relieved that Yoana and Claude never called me and forced me to get married. I wonder, what did Mary tell my sister when it came to our mansion."
"Did Claude and Joanna not say anything back then?'
"No. Mary thought Claude and Joanna knew she was pregnant, but they didn't. I'm a loser who didn't dare say it to herself because I didn't want to think about the possibility of being forced into marriage. That moment ... it felt terrible."
"Oh, my goodness .. What did Claude and Joanna do when Mary came?"
"They drove him out."
Anna covered her mouth with one hand. Refrain from saying anything.
"We move on. I am with my life and Mary in her own way. Leonard was finally born, and raised by Catalina, a nurse at a maternity clinic at the time, Leon was lucky ... His aunt was more sane back then than her father and mother," Simon laughed mockingly at himself.
"Many months .. I was filled with question marks as to how Marylin's fate .. over time, the burden of guilt and the question of how Marylin's baby's condition made me finally talk."
"You picked up Leon?" asked Anna expectantly.
Simon shook his head. He looked at Anna. Anna's eyes only looked curious. There was no disgust, judgment, or annoyance in those green eyes.
"No. I told Uncle Hamilton everything. Then Yoana and Claude handle everything. It was then that Claude finally met Catalina. Catalina took care of Leon like her own mother. Even Mommy was the only baby Leon at the time but Catalina. Mary gave up that right completely. I don't blame her, her life was full of burdens and difficulties. I'm grateful that when her mind was tangled with being pregnant and being abandoned by her boyfriend's jerk, she came to Catalina."
"It must have been very hard for Mary ..."
"certain ... But he always had Serge by his side. A friend who always helps and encourages Mary. He also had Catalina, Leon, even we Bernard family, and now he has Alric. I'm happy, Mary's finally living a happy life."
Anna smiled. Staring at Simon who was staring at the roof of the car, looking relaxed with his hands intertwined behind his head.
"Mary's lucky."
Simon turned his head, staring unblinkingly into Anna's eyes. A very serious look, no rays of teasing or playfulness.
"We .. Leon and I could be anything for you. Your family, your friends, your friends .. You can count on us, Ann. I want you to feel lucky to meet us. Like you feel lucky to meet Mrs Luna and Mrs. Sanders." -."
Anna stared in the depths of Simon's dark eyeballs. He knew Simon said it sincerely. Anna smiled, her eyes staring.
"Thank you, Simon" said Anna.
Simon smiled back. He held his hand so as not to reach Anna's body, because what he really wanted to do right now was to hug the woman tightly. All her life, Anna had only Nuella, and the little girl had left. During her marriage to Martin, Ann only had herself without being able to share her pain, fear or distress with others.
I could be whatever you need, Ann .. let me have you, so your companion.
