"Truly worried about me, huh?"
"Hm" muttered Az without opening his eyes. He still lay his head on Nafla's lap, despite knowing that the girl must be misbehaving because she was caught wiping her head.
Without them noticing, papa watched them from behind the glass door. His look seemed illegible.
Papa even abandoned his intention to go back into Nafla's ward and chose to sit in the waiting chair. Waiting for the arrival of the person he called.
Almost an hour later, Grandma came with Bianca. Papa who saw their arrival immediately stood up to greet and kissed the back of Grandma's hand.
"Sorry, make me worry constantly," said papa not tasty. At the age of the grandmother who was no longer young, he felt he was still troublesome mother-in-law.
"This mother is still your mother, right?" Grandma stared at papa sharply. "There is no word of trouble between families."
Grandma hugged papa's body with her vulnerable hands. Inevitably the short scene made the two shed tears. "When I marry my daughter, I consider you my own son, Tirta. Nafla and Bianca are my grandchildren."
Papa nodded, then wiped his dewy eyes as grandma let go of her indentation. "Thank you, ma'am," he said solemnly.
Tirta's parents have died since he was a child and it was from his mother-in-law that he gained the love of a mother. The affection that made him feel like a lifetime would not be able to repay him.
Over fifteen years, he entrusted one of his daughters without any hesitation. Over fifteen years, her mother-in-law took care of and loved her daughter without ever complaining. Again, papa felt his eyes dew.
So did grandma. Although his biological daughter had long died, but he never broke his relationship with Tirta. For him, the husband of his late daughter was already considered his own son, let alone Nafla and Bianca.
"How's Bianca doing, Tirta?"
Papa did not immediately answer the grandmother question because he actually did not know what to answer. However, he also did not want to hide the state of Bianca to his grandmother.
"It's not good, ma'am."
Hearing the papa's words made the grandmother unable to hold back her cries. It seems back to what happened decades ago, when Mama Nafla and Bianca were also hospitalized with the same disease. Meanwhile, Bianca who was standing next to Grandma looked unmoved.
The young man was not difficult to wake up. He used to sleep not too soundly, but somehow this afternoon his sleep was very good.
"There's Grandma!" pekik Nafla restrained. Of course he was embarrassed if this scene was seen by grandma. However, Az belatedly raised his head because both grandma and Bianca had already seen his behavior.
Grandma seemed to shake her head while smiling lightly, while Bianca just stared at them expressionlessly.
"Sorry, Grandma." Az who had just woken up, immediately stood up from his seat. Ignoring the pain in her neck from the wrong sleeping position, but she was happy.
"Watch Grandma didn't see," the grandmother teased, then approached Nafla and clasped her hands. Meanwhile, Az only smiled awkwardly while rubbing his nape. Secretly Bianca noticed Az's behavior.
"How are you, Bia?"
Indeed, basically Nafla easily cry if near the grandmother, now he has a hiccup in the arms of the old woman. She missed her grandmother, very much.
"I miss my grandmother."
I don't know why Grandma felt something was different about her granddaughter. He did not let go of his embrace, but he stared long at the top of Nafla's head trapped in Bianca's body. This hug .. it feels so familiar.
Papa and Az choose to move out so that the room is not too inhabited by people. His intention, Az wants to go home immediately to take a shower and change clothes because the next shift will arrive. However, papa's words made him stop the move.
"I thought you liked Nafla." Papa smiled warmly as he folded his hands back, then continued, "The cup you like Bianca."
Papa's smile looks very warm. Warm and .. happy.
