THE CLIMBER

THE CLIMBER
TUTORS

AT 15:00 WNT

All the students who took part in the exercises that day had gathered near Wall Climbing.

"Good afternoon friends, today we first do climbing exercises, but before we do climbing it would be nice if we know first what is wall climbing..? and knowing the basic theories, and today we can listen directly from the expert, the legendary three-star cliff-record breaker, to Arya's brother in the time and place I'm welcome." said Devi.

Then Arya stood with a firm face full of dignity.

"Include my name Arya Nugraha and I are also students of this school, just like you. So let us together advance the sport of wall climbing here, not just for personal achievement but to bring our school alma mater to the National arena, he said, and before we start climbing it would be nice to know some of the benefits that we can get from practicing wall climbing itself are, among others, namely,

ONE, Train COURAGE.

When doing wall climbing, we have to face a very high field that can spur adrenaline. Initially it feels scary, but by practicing wall climbing regularly, over time our courage will be nurtured and increased.

THE SECOND, Training FOR TOUGHNESS.

The higher wall climbing wall, of course, will be more difficult to achieve. So, subconsciously, this sport also trains our readiness in facing all the obstacles that exist and make us become increasingly resilient individuals.

And THE THIRD Train COORDINATION OF BODY MOVEMENT TOOLS.

At the time of climbing, we will use almost all body movements to go up. We also have to put our hands and feet on the right footing to be able to climb without having to fall. Until here something needs to be asked..?" arya.

"Because there is no question I continue, for those of us who are just doing wall climbing for the first time, some of these tips certainly need us to follow:

FIRST, EXERCISE PHYSICAL STRENGTH. Never think that climbing only requires arm strength. Because almost all body muscles play a big role to reach the top of wall climbing. So, before doing this exercise, we need to do physical exercises such as running regularly to train breathing, weight training such as push ups and sit ups to form endurance and muscle strength. And physical exercise using tools like dumbbells, and others.

THE SECOND, INCREASES THE FLEXIBILITY OF THE BODY. In addition to physical strength, flexibility of the body is also needed in the sport of wall climbing so that we can pass the obstacles that exist easily and quickly. To increase body flexibility, make it a habit to warm up before starting to climb. Even better, if you do cardio exercise regularly.

And THE THIRD PREPARES MENTALLY. One of the factors that can determine success in climbing is a strong mentality and not easily give up. We have to convince ourselves that we can definitely reach the top. If you fall and fail, then do not give up and keep trying again and again.

After knowing the benefits and preparations for wall climbing, the next is to know some types of handles, and, footing and how to hold points for those of us who are just learning there are several forms and ways to hold points in wall climbing,

JUG, is a large handle can be held comfortably.

SIDE PULL, is a handle whose holding side faces to the left/right side (vertical), so the body must be tilted to the left or right in the opposite direction to the direction of the handle with the technique of lay away/lay back.

UNDERCUT/UNDERCLING, is a grip where the sides that can be held face down.

PINCH, is a type of handle that is how to hold it with a pinch.

CRIMP, is a type of horizontal thin flat handle, where can only place the fingertips.

POCKET, is a type of handle shaped like a shallow hole that can enter one or several fingers, where holding it is rather difficult depending on position.

First HOOKING, is the movement of lifting the body by hooking/attaching the legs to reduce the load in the hand area. In climbing known hooking techniques, namely heel hooks (movement pressing the heel above the handle that is parallel to the upper body), and toe hooks (attaching movement/hooking the front leg so that the body remains balanced parallel to the wall).

Both SMEARING, is a foot movement in which the rubberized climbing shoes are placed to get friction with the climbing wall so that the climber can push the body to climb.

Third EDGING, is stepping with the inner or outer side of the climbing shoe which in practice uses more of the tip of the shoe.

And in the sport of climbing, Wall Climbing is not the only one there is still another one that is Rock Climbing.

Then what is the difference between Wall Climbing and Rock Climbing anyone knows..?" ask Arya again.

All the students were still silent and no one raised their hands, until a moment later, a girl stood up and stepped closer to Arya.

"Before I explain the difference between Wall Climbing and Rock Climbing introduce my name Elya Nugraha, I will try to explain the fundamental difference between Wall Climbing and Rock Climbing, from the name alone already visible, I will try to explain the fundamental difference between Wall Climbing and Rock Climbing,

Wall climbing as the name suggests uses walls or artificial boards as terrain. While rock climbing uses high and steep rock cliffs from nature as a terrain to climb. The first difference is CLIMBED TERRAIN

Rock climbing and wall climbing include extreme sports that require equipment especially for safety. The equipment can be said to be almost the same. But the difference is that rock climbing is more and more detail because the terrain being climbed is also heavier.

If Wall Climbing helmet use is not mandatory otherwise for Rock Climbing helmet is very useful as a protector so that injuries to the head while climbing can be avoided. The second difference is THE EQUIPMENT USED.

Furthermore, the third difference is TYPE CLIMBER, Rock climbing and wall climbing are both climbing sports. Many climbers use Wall Climbing as a stepping stone to climb the more extreme and steep terrain that exists in nature, namely Climbing Cliffs or Rock Climbing. So Rock climbing is not a climbing for beginner climbers.

The next difference is about THE PREPARATION DONE, which,

Wall climbing is more practical and can be done at any time. Rock climbing climbers must prepare a variety of equipment with detail and strong stamina.

And the last difference is THE LOCATION AND CLIMBING PLACE,

Rock climbing is located outdoors, precisely in the wild with a certain height. And wall climbing is done indoors and outdoors.

Well that's the difference between Wall Climbing and Rock Climbing, anyone wants to add or ask..?" said Elya gracefully.

"Because there is no question I assume you guys have understood so let's start with the warm-up exercise, make Alex and Devi's brother please invite friends to run around the field, so let's practice we start with a warm-up, make Alex and Devi's brother please invite friends to run around the field, meanwhile, I and Elya changed clothes to climb first." said Arya as she walked away followed by Elya.
