The Grand King and His Interpreter

The Grand King and His Interpreter
Chapter 9 - Former

Serious chats filled the meeting room until the last moment Steve finished with the closing words, as well as marking the end of our visit. I haven't even had a chance to ask her why she claims to be my boyfriend. What if the rumors about us get wild?

Luckily, no one was in the meeting room, daring to debate Steve or ask further questions about his relationship with me. Steve was always intimidating when he was in the meeting room. He's like an alpha male. Steve made it clear to everyone in the meeting room, that he was the one in control.

The meeting was completed in less than two hours with the One Harness party presenting their product. I glanced at Steve through the tail of my eye. He was very calm, even when he put his laptop back in the bag.

“Later the results of this meeting I will discuss again with my team, and later the next news will be taken over by the purchasing team and quality deri of our company.” Steve got up from his seat.

Steve greeted everyone in the meeting room in turn. I followed behind Steve by doing the same thing, until Gilang's turn, I pretended to smile. I really don't want to start any more relationships with him.

“Cher, can you talk to me for a minute?” Gilang did not let go of my hand.

“Sori, I'm in a hurry.” I said try to be normal and formal.

“You don't need to be so stiff I.” Saying Gilang slowly. His voice was barely heard. “Sorry me.” Next lirih.

“Pak Gilang any business yes same my girlfriend?” Asked Steve who had appeared out of nowhere and since when was behind me.

“Eh, there is nothing sir, just news.” Reply Gilang bumbling.

I backed up next to Steve.

“Lha, indeed after breaking up, directly lost contact?” Ask Steve.

Ow hell! Why is this steve? Why would he casually ask such a very off-topic question like this.

Gilang did not answer quickly. He looks confused. Sure was! He was the first to block my number and all my access to contact him.

“Iya, sir.” He looked confused when he had to answer Steve's question.

Steve didn't flinch. This time he looked seriously at Gilang.

“Your closeness with Cheryl will not affect my decision, nor the management of the products you will supply to us.” Steve is serious.

Gilang looks quite upset, clearly visible from his movements. Hands clenched. Steve-pun seems to be able to catch the obvious annoyance from the look of Gilang's reddened face.

“Me and Cheryl said yes, sir.” Said Steve while patting Gilang's shoulder and then passing by just leaving Gilang who was silent.

“Mari, sir.” I said, then hurriedly tailed behind Steve.

Steve hired me to be his secretary so I could help with his work, but until now, it felt like Steve was the one who contributed more to me. It's been a few times. At least I want to be useful to him.

The meeting did not go according to Steve's wishes. His cousins began to dare to sneer at the behavior of Steve who too often interfere. Steve really just wants to help the company. And again, I could just keep quiet without helping a bit. I don't understand anything about business.

The sky was dark when steve and I got to the car park. The friendly Steve turned cold as people greeted him earlier. I can't speak anymore either. Today was exhausting for Steve. Plus he hasn't seen Natsume.

“Tomorrow the day after we go to Singapore.” Steve said as he got into the car.

I followed Steve, got in the car. “Natsume?” I try to guess.

Steve nodded. His face is serious.

“Arrgh! I'm tired.” Said Steve, leaning his back on the back of the chair.

I can feel Steve's stress levels increasing. He's also very tired. An attack Steve never expected. His own family cornered him.

For some people it might be assumed that I was overdoing it about Steve, but I think Steve is quite a hard worker. He is responsible for what his parents give him. Again, I felt that my presence was completely useless.

“Cher, do you want me?” Steve asked without looking at me.

“I don't want to go home right now. I don't want to hear their babble for a while.” Answer Steve.

“They are your cousins, you live one house with them?” ask again.

Steve shakes. He closed his eyes. “Today we have to eat at the home of grandparents and grandparents. So I will definitely meet them.” Steve Obviously.

“Uhm, is it okay for you to miss important events of your grandparents?”

Steve was shaking again. “If their house is conducive, I will stay there.”

“Where are we going until all your cousins come home?” My toot.

“Until tomorrow morning.” Answer Steve. “We go to hotel.”.

“Hah?!”

“You can refuse, if you do not want.” Steve said relax.

Leaving her alone in her unfavorable feelings, seemed not the right choice, but staying in a hotel with men, moreover she was my Director. If someone sees it, the rumors about us will get wilder.

“Nginep my home only, yes?”

“Your house?” Steve asked as if he didn't believe what I just said.

I'm nodding. “Indeed the condition of his house is very far from the hotel, let alone your home.” I said honestly.

“Oke.” Said agreed. He started holding the wheel, started the engine, then drove slowly out of the company area.

Sometimes I steal a glance at Steve.

“Mending you take left first, stop.” I said.

Steve was shocked, immediately pulled the car over. “What's up?” Ask panicked.

“Let me take the car.” I said as I opened my seatbelt and got out of the car.

I walked around the front of the car, all the way to the side door of the steering wheel. Steve rolled down his window and looked at me without saying a word. For almost a minute, we just stared at each other. I decided to pull Steve out of the car. I pulled the doorknob.

“Minggir.” I said firmly.

Good Lord! Hopefully Steve doesn't change his mind and instead decides to fire me right now.

No resistance, Steve got out of the car.

“You are fit to be a begal.” Steve then laughed loudly.

I didn't touch him and got straight into the car.

“Make safe?” Steve asked doubtfully.

“Aman.” I said then get ready to start the car again.

I silently looked at the bottom of the steering wheel.

“There is wrong?” Ask Steve.

I looked towards Steve. He looked at me with a confused face.

“How to start the car?” My toot.

I've never driven a luxury sedan like Steve's. I turned the key, but it didn't turn on even though I pressed the START button.

Steve leaned over, so that his hands would get to the key area. Then he turned it around a little bit.

“now try pressing.” Said Steve.

I followed Steve's lead. The car turns on instantly.

I grin. “Hehe... Thank you Steve.” I said, then started driving slowly.

Steve smiled then he leaned back to put my seatbelt on.

“Safety First.” He said, then put his seat belt on.

God, wake me up right now. My heart's pounding!!
