Cornelius dropped Irene in his car seat. Then ran in the car in a hurry to go to the hospital.

Cornelius was on his way to the office to pick up Irene.
While Irene was already on her way home, and soon Irene would reach the boarding house. It was occupied by Irene.
After about 15 minutes the taxi Irene boarded stopped by the roadside right in front of the boarding house that had been occupied by Irene.
Irene gave the money to the taxi driver, then got out of the taxi. The taxi hit the gas pedal and left Irene there.
