The Lord Of Mysteries

The Lord Of Mysteries
Chapter 38: The Beginner's Hobby

Upon hearing Klein's question, the beautiful woman with elegantly tied brownish-yellow hair seemed to lose her temper. However, he maintained his smile and said, "Our members are free to make predictions for others at the club. They also have their prices and we take a very small cut as a cost. If you want to make a fortune, you can take a look at this album. The album has introductions and levels of members who are willing to do divination for others."

"However, it's Monday afternoon, so most of our members are busy working. We only have five here today …"

As he introduced the club, he invited Klein to sit on the sofa beside the window in the reception hall. Then, he flipped through the album and showed the current members of the club.

"Hanass Vincent's. The famous fortuneteller Tingen. The resident mentor club. Smart in various forms of divination. He charges four soli each time."

It was really expensive. It was enough to feed Benson, Melissa, and me for two sumptuous dinners.

When the woman saw this, she continued to turn the pages and introduce one member after another.

"…And the last one, Glacis. A member who joined the club this year. He's an expert in tarot divination. He charges two pence each time.

"Sir, who are you planning to choose?"

Klein did not stand at the ceremony and replied, "Mr Glacis."

"…" The lady's maid fell silent for two seconds before saying, "Sir, I must remind you that Mr. Glacis is only considered a rookie."

"i understand I'll take responsibility for my own decisions." Klein nodded with a smile.

"…Then please follow me." The woman stood up and led Klein through the door beside the reception hall.

It was not a very long corridor and an open meeting room was located at the end. There is enough sunlight and is equipped with tables and chairs. There are newspapers, magazines, and paper cards. The faint aroma of coffee floated out.

About two rooms from the meeting room, officers signaled for Klein to stop. He quickened his pace and entered the room. He shouted softly, "Master Glacis, someone wants your prophecy."

"Me?" A voice filled with shock and doubt immediately sounded. After that, the sound of the chair moving.

"Yes, which divination room do you want to use?" the woman replied without emotion.

"Topaz's room I like topaz." Glacis appeared at the meeting room door and looked curiously at Klein who was waiting not far away.

He was a man in his thirties; his complexion was rather dark and his pupils were dark green. Under her light, yellow and soft hair, she was wearing a white shirt and a black vest. A lensed glasses hung on his chest and he seemed to have a good disposition.

The officer said nothing more as he opened the door of the Topaz Room next to the meeting room.

The curtains inside were tightly closed, making it dim. It seemed that only by doing so would one obtain revelations from the gods and spirits in order to obtain accurate results of divination.

"Hello. I'm Glacis. I never expected you to choose me for your prophecy." Glacis bowed to a man, quickly stepped into the room, and sat behind a long table. "Frankly, I'm just trying to predict others. For now, I'm not a good fortune teller. You still have a chance to regret."

After Klein returned the bow, he entered and closed the door behind him.

With light seeping through the curtains, he said with a smile, "You are a very honest man, but I am someone who is very firm on his choice."

"Please sit down." Glacis pointed at the chair in front of him and thought for a few seconds. "Trading is my hobby. Heh hehs. In life, a person often receives guidance from the divine, but ordinary people are unable to understand its meaning accurately. This is the reason why the prophecy exists and also why I joined this club. In this aspect, I still lack confidence. Let's make a prophecy that follows an exchange, a free exchange. How do you like my advice? I'll cover the costs the club needs. It's only a quarter pence."

Klein disagreed or shook his head. Instead, he smiled.

"From the looks of it, you have a job with a pretty good and decent salary."

While he said so, he leaned his body slightly forward. He held her forehead with his right hand and knocked it twice.

"But that doesn't improve the accuracy of my predictions" Glacis replied jokingly. "Is your head hurting? Do you want divine issues about health?"

"Little bit. I want to know where an item is." Klein had already thought of an excuse as he slowly leaned back.

In his eyes, the aura of Glacis clearly appeared on its own. The orange color in his lungs was dark and rare. They even affect brightness in other areas.

This was not a symptom of fatigue .. Klein nodded in an invisible way.

"Are you looking for a lost item?" Glacis thought for a few seconds before saying, "Then let's make a simple determination."

He pushed the neatly stacked tarot cards on the black table towards Klein.

"Silent. Think about the item and ask yourself 'if it can still be found.' When doing so, shake and cut the deck."

"Good." Klein actually did not remember what the ancient notebook looked like. All he could do was repeat the question to himself: Is the Antigonus family notebook still to be found?

While he repeated the thought, he skillfully shuffled and cut the deck.

Glacis took the top card and pushed it in front of Klein. The card is facing down horizontally.

“Play clockwise until upright. Then reverse. If the card is upside down, meaning that the image on the card is facing you, it indicates that the item cannot be found. If the card is upright, then we can continue the prophecy and find the real location."

Klein followed his instructions and turned the horizontal card into a vertical.

He grasped the tip of the tarot card and turned it over.

It was a reverse card.

"It's a shame." Glacis sighed.

Klein did not respond because his attention was focused on the tarot card in front of him.

The reverse card image was wearing beautiful clothes and beautiful headdress—The Fool!

"Can it be foreseen if the item is already in the hands of someone else?"

"of course. Follow the same procedure and do it again." Glacis nodded with interest.

Klein shuffled and cut the deck while thinking about his question.

He pulled the card and placed it horizontally before rotating it in a vertical clockwise direction. He finished all the preparations with a serious expression.

Taking a deep breath, Klein stretched out his hand and flipped the tarot card.

Please don't be a fool anymore…

While praying, he suddenly relaxes because his card is The Star and flips over!

"From the looks of it, the item had not been taken by anyone else," Glacis said with a smile.

Klein nodded and raised his right hand. He tapped on his glabella, looking like he was thinking hard. Then, he took out two cents with a dark copper luster from his pocket and pushed it towards Glacis.

"Don't I say it's free?" Glacis said with a frown.

Klein laughed as he woke up.

"It's a respect worthy of divination."

"Alright, thank you for your generosity." Glacis stood up and extended his hand.

After shaking his hand, Klein took two steps back and turned around. He walked to the door and turned the doorknob.

Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly turned his head and made a brief sound.

"Mrs. Glacis, I suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible. Focus on your lungs."

"Why?" glacis asked in surprise.

Are you condemning me because you are not happy with the prophecy?

Klein thought for a moment before saying, "That's a symptom based on the color of your face. You, well. your glabell looks dark 1 ."

"Glabella seems dark ..." This is the first time Glacis heard such a description.

Klein did not explain further as he walked out of the room with a smile. He closed the wooden door behind him.

"Is he an unlicensed doctor or herbalist?" Glacis shook his head, amused. He then took his lensed glasses for a prophecy.

When closely observed, he realized that his glabella was indeed dark.

But this is an environmental issue. In the darkness due to the covered curtains, not only was his glabella dark, his entire face was shrouded in darkness!

"It's not a very fun joke." Glacis mutters.

He was worried about foreseeing his own health to make sure that everything was fine.

After leaving the Divination Club, Klein had additional plans for the future.

It was to save as much money as possible to pay the annual fee to become a member of the club. After that, he could start acting as a Diviner.

As for why he did not choose to do it independently, it was because he was temporarily lacking in resources and channels. He could not stand on the streets as a peddler because he cared about his reputation.

A few minutes later, a public train arrived. He spent two pence and reached the not-too-distant Zouteland Street.

He pushed open the door of the Blackthorn Security Company but did not see the brown-haired girl he knew. He only looked at the black-haired, green-eyed Leonard Mitchell with his poetic demeanor behind the reception desk.

"Good afternoon. Where is Rozanne?" Klein asked after taking off his hat and bowed.

Leonard smiled and pointed to the partition.

"It's his turn to work tonight in the armory."

Without waiting for Klein to ask another question, Leonard said as if he was thinking about something, "Klein, I have a question that always confuses me."

"What's that?" Klein's confused.

Leonard stood up and smilingly said in a relaxed tone, "Why did Welch and Naya kill themselves on the spot when you returned home?"

"That may have something to do with how an unknown existence led me to take the Antigonus family notebook to hide it," Klein replied with official suspicion.

Leonard paced back and forth before turning to look straight into Klein's eyes.

"If your suicide was meant to silence you and erase any clues, why weren't you made to destroy the notebook there and then?"

This is a classic Chinese proverb for a person. This usually implies a bad sign.
