CHAPTER 1

A middle-aged man with a stick in his hand, seemed to be holding tightness in his chest due to the actions of his daughter. The man named Bagas looked at the beautiful girl who had just returned from nowhere.

The clock on the wall had shown at 1 am, meaning he was three hours late from what his father had determined. However, he did not feel guilty at all.

“You're his only father's daughter, Kara. If you keep this up, how can I answer your mother's questions later.”

“Dad don't bring Mom. Kara doesn't like.” Kara left immediately leaving her father who was holding onto her chest that was throbbing pain.

As a father, Bagas felt that he had failed to educate his only child. Kara who grows up without the affection of a mother, makes the girl a little spoiled and self-absorbed. It's very difficult to manage Kara who is starting to grow up. Kara is no longer her little daughter who will obey if she is scolded.

The man entered his room and clutched tightly to an old photograph that displayed a beautiful smile from someone who was very well loved. Her tears suddenly shot out as she stared at the photo of the woman.

“I'm sorry, Maria. I'm sorry I couldn't take good care of Kara. Though, I promised you I'd take good care of her until she got married. I don't know what Kara's doing out there, Maria.”

Unintentionally, Karamel, who was trying to grab a drink, heard what his father had to say in a picture of his late mother.

I'm fine, Dad. I'm just lonely. Why do you think that?

Kara was crying in her silence. His heart was also shaken to hear what his father complained to the dead.

“Maria, I took care of Kara wholeheartedly, as the last memory you've given me, but if she let you down out there, would you be mad at me, Maria?”

Suddenly, there was the sound of objects falling to the floor to make the sound of broken glass. Kara who had been standing next to her father's room door, quickly and without a second thought immediately approached her father.

“Dad. Dad why? Dad woke up,” shouted Kara in the middle of the night.

The fear of loss suddenly enveloped the recesses of her heart, Kara crying out.

Kara sits alone in front of the ICU of the private hospital where her father is getting help. His clothes were still the same as a few hours ago when his father rebuked him for often coming home late at night. Regretting, of course that's a natural thing Kara felt at this time, but is it too late?

Doctors said his father had been suffering from heart disease for the past few years, but instead of opting for surgery, Bagas rejected the doctor's advice. The man chose to live the rest of his life as it is with road treatment that might just ease his pain. Bagas insisted he would not use his money for heart surgery because Kara's education and future were far more important.

“Why didn't Dad ever tell me you were sick? Why did Dad cover this up from me, Dad?” kara's inner self is feeling more guilty. If only he had known his father was suffering from such a severe illness, he would not have been likely to wander indistinctly every night.

Then, a man who was the same age as Bagas came over to Kara who was incessantly crying.

“Caramel,” greet the man.

Kara slightly raised her head, staring towards the source of the sound. “Om know me?” Kara squinted her eyes, she never knew the man sitting next to her. But why did the man know his full name?

The man smiled thinly. Then, Kara stared fixedly at the middle-aged man. His gaze was like a helper god that suddenly appeared in the middle of Kara's heart.
