The castle in Border Town did not always stand where it is now.
When they laid the foundations for the first castle, the ground collapsed due to an underground cave. Therefore, the position of the Fortress has been moved.
The excavated sewers were mostly destroyed by the collapse, and some parts were still intact, but this section was also discarded due to the relocation and rebuilding of the castle.
When Brian was young, he often played in the underground tunnels, and one time he accidentally found a route from an abandoned well outside the castle walls that directly led to a well in the castle garden . Brian recounted the news of the discovery to his father, but he was hit hard in return. His father also warned him that trespassing into the master's castle was a grave offense, if he was found, it could only end with a trip to the gallows.
Through this Brian fears for his life and never goes into the old sewer again. However, when people gathered, they would start drinking and chatting, and during such occasions he repeatedly bragged about his ability to have direct access to the castle. Now he regrets it.
Patrols throughout the city other than the Greyhound were nine people. In other words, Fierce Scar had convinced the entire city patrol - and they were now working for Duke Ryan, who controlled the western part of the kingdom. Furthermore, the rewards were so good, that perhaps few people could resist this temptation.
The abandoned well was in the part where it originally collapsed, and it was still a desert even today. Fierce Scar orders Brian with his sword to lead the way, and during their trip to Brian's well is caught in the middle of the group. The fairly wide flow of water he remembered from his childhood had now become very narrow. Since no one was going through this path, the diversion of water had dug many holes that grew many vines.
The one who pierced the Greyhound took the lead in the front line and held the torch, on the other hand he held an axe to clear the way from all obstacles.
While Brian pretended to remember the path, in the depths of his heart, he secretly thought of a way to escape.
But for such an action, this was clearly a very uncomfortable place, here he had no possibility of escaping. Only in the castle, there was a possibility to get a slim chance. But how did he do it? Should he shout loudly to lead His Majesty's guards to them? No. It's not a bad idea, Fierce Scar just has to raise his hand and he will be able to take Brian's own life, he has to get away from him, otherwise his fate will be like a Greyhound.
At the thought of Greyhound, Brian's eyes became somewhat gloomy.
Before Border Town was founded, he and Brian themselves had already lived here. They grew up and played together many times, and even joined the patrol of the city, which was Brian's idea. Greyhound never expected that he himself would be chosen as a patrol captain.
Brian had been happy for a long time, but due to his stuttering, Greyhound was deeply insulted. But today, he finally had a chance to be recognized - finally there was a chance, Brian thought.
But when the Greyhound falls and Fierce Scar growls at Brian, Fierce Scar sarcastically tells him directly in front of his face the real reason why everyone chose the Greyhound as captain.
"Stupid, he was chosen because the captain's important task was to stay behind during the Demon Moon and take care of various things, such as lighting a fire to sound the alarm.
We let you do this, because why would I have to do such a dangerous task? "
This sentence was like a sharp knife, directly piercing into Brian's ear.
So those who humbly refuse when they get an offer to be promoted ... Those words of congratulations are so wrong, their real reason is so bad. He showed a look of shock and despair on his face, to cover up the raging fury in his heart. This was inexcusable, Brian was secretly on a rampage, someone had to pay the price for this!
After walking for half an hour through a drained drain, the masses can finally hear the sound of running water.
This means they are not far from their goal.
After they turned, the front suddenly became more open and bright, the open space could accommodate two people standing side by side. The person moving in front of the group said, "There is no road ahead, this is the mouth of the shaft."
"Tell him to look up," Brian recounts, "We've finally arrived."
This abandoned channel is right in the middle of the castle's sewer. At the time of repair, probably due to negligence, they did not close this interface. Fierce Scar clung to the wall and looked around, at his feet the rushing water was three feet deep, and when he looked up he could see the night sky through the small hole.
He let others see Brian, and he took his backpack and pulled out a bundle of rope, tied the hook to it and gently tossed it up, just to hear the sound of hooks sticking firmly to the edge of the wellhead. .
A fierce scar followed the rope, carefully climbing out. Immediately, he pulled the rope from above and another person schematically climbed up.
After a long wait, it was Brian's turn to climb the well. Initially they could only see the caste far away in the distance but now stood right in front of them.
Fierce Scar pulled Brian and ordered inwardly, "You come with us to the barn."
Brian only came here once. Although in his memory the look of the castle became blurred, he still knew where they were, if they forced open the nearest door to the well, they would directly enter the castle.
By this time most of the people in the castle were already sleeping, and the oil lamps hanging on the walls of the corridor had also been extinguished. In the darkness, someone must light a fire. The weak flames only lit up within a radius of a few meters, but Brian waited for his chance, which was bound to come.
When the team reached the crossroads leading to the basement, he aimed for the stairs leading down, and suddenly rushed past his guards. The guards on Brian's side were caught off guard, despite noticing every move he made, Brian just jumped up too fast, so they didn't have time to respond, but soon they reacted and jumped down after him.
He fell down from the stairs, out of the reach of the light and disappeared into the darkness.
"Oh shit, shit!" The ferocious scar immediately pulled out its dagger and jumped down to catch up with him. He thought that Brian would take advantage of the darkness and would play hide-and-seek with him, so he was caught off guard when Brian did not escape. He stood patiently at the end of the stairs as if he was waiting for him.
Fierce Scar noted that his other accomplice was already lying motionless on the ground, and in Brian's hand was a male weapon.
"Idiot, do you think you have a chance of winning against me?" Fierce Scar took a cautious stance, and he could also hear his other men coming down the stairs, "We have seven people, and you are alone."
Brian did not reply; it was already no longer necessary to hold back his own anger. He raised his sword and quickly slashed diagonally down, hitting the Fierce Scar sword, instantly creating a spark. Before Fierce Scar could even take his next defensive posture, Brian's sword tip had already pierced through his shoulder!
Fierce Scar let out a roar of agony, and took a step back to let another man step forward, blocking Brian's pursuit.
This was an excellent place for Brian to fight, with his opponents' narrow passageways unable to take advantage of their superior numbers. He only stood in the middle of the corridor and only had enemies in front of him. He would be able to withstand two people, who would have to fight with swords there side by side.
In the sport of fencing, Brian would not lose faith in anyone patrolling.
When this group of lazy bastards gambled and indulged in the bar, he still honed his fighting skills, regardless of the wind, frost, rain, and snow, unbroken for years - this was his choice and the reason why he didn't scream for help immediately.
He wanted to take revenge on the Greyhound personally.
