When Gentle Snow disconnected the call, Shi Feng heaved a sigh of relief. Fortunately, he was not found out.
If Gentle Snow found out that Shi Feng was the creator of the Garrison Armor, dire consequences might have occurred. Also, Shi Feng did not doubt the possibility of Gentle Snow using such a powerful approach.
The Snow Goddess was not an empty title. His fist-fist method had tongues tied to countless experts. Otherwise, he would not be able to take care of so many experts.
However, Shi Feng discovered an interesting thing from Gentle Snow's words.
Many Guilds in White River City had already begun to attach high importance to the Garrison Armor. This meant that the reputation of the Garrison Armor had already spread. Currently, the popularity of the Garrison Armor might have reached its peak. This was a great opportunity for Shi Feng to sell the Garrison Armor in bulk, making a fortune. After another period had passed, the value of the Garrison Armor would not be as great as it was now.
"First, let's take a look at that Epic Mission; then I'll come back to make the Garrison Armor." Shi Feng impatiently wanted to re-create the Garrison Armor now, the opportunity for him to make a fortune had arrived. However, now the Epic Mission was much more important to him. If he gave up on this mission, he would definitely regret it for the rest of his life.
This Epic Mission played a huge role in allowing Fantasy Extinguisher to become a legendary achievement. Of course, Shi Feng would not let go of this chance encounter. After spending twenty minutes arranging a stratagem along a narrow path in the Slums, Shi Feng finally arrived at the Library.
On his way here, Shi Feng discovered the miracle of having a Divine Official walk by his side in the slums. The NPCs who intended to rob him all retreated after seeing Sharlyn's clothes. Otherwise, Shi Feng would have needed to spend over an hour on this trip, constantly battling against these rats. Moreover, these NPCs were really poor. Shi Feng would not get rewarded for killing these NPCs, not even EXP.
The Red Leaf Town Library had a poor appearance. The building had only two floors, and no one was present to manage it as dead leaves could be seen climbing its walls.
Entering the Library, dust and dirt covered the entire building. The books lying on the wooden table had long since been wrapped by a layer of dust. The library was more like a haunted house than a place where people once lived.
"sorry. It's been a long time since people have visited, so I haven't tidied up this place. Sit wherever you want," Sharlyn faintly smiled as she pointed towards the dust-covered chair, not understanding that her actions were so inappropriate.
"Dear Divine Official, I came here because I want this diary translated," Shi Feng said, heading straight to the point. His brows furrowed slightly as he looked towards the thick layer of dust covering the chair. He really did not want to dirty his clothes.
However, Sharlyn continued to think about her own matters as she searched for something on the bookshelf. It seemed that he did not hear Shi Feng speak at all.
Shi Feng had long since gotten used to such behavior, so he chose to remain silent. There were all sorts of NPCs in the God's Domain. That was especially true for important NPCs. Unique and strange behavior is considered small things. There were famous NPCs who were much more damned. These NPCs caused many first-rate Groups to curse their mothers.
After waiting for ten minutes, Sharlyn finally came out of the stack of bookshelves. In his hand, he held a thick and tattered old book.
"I know why you're here. When you set foot in the Slums, I can feel the evil energy coming from your body" Sharlyn said in seriousness. He placed the tattered book on the table, making all the dust in the building suddenly soar, "Let me see the item."
Shi Feng of course knew the diary triggered such a scenario. He took out the tattered diary from his bag, carefully handing it over to Sharlyn.
Sharlyn was in no hurry to receive the diary. Instead, he shouted out Divine words. Suddenly, golden lines of Divine Miracles wrapped around the diary.
When Shi Feng wondered about Sharlyn's actions, a change suddenly appeared in the diary. Black smoke suddenly appeared on its pitch-black cover, and a sinister-looking face appeared. It looks like a lot of pain.
Sharlyn cried out, her jade-like hand issuing Divine Words in the air. At the same time, he began to sing a Tier 3 Divine Curse, his voice echoing throughout the library. A golden-coloured hexagram appeared above the Library, covering the entire building, and from the magic formation, three Golden Spears of the Court flew over. The spears pierced through the diary, tearing the evil face apart.
"Hahaha, I won't give up! We'll meet again!" The sinister face loudly laughed as it spoke with bone-chilling words. Both of his eyes were firmly fixed on Shi Feng as if the words he spoke were meant for him.
Within moments, the black smoke above the diary dispersed. Meanwhile, Sharlyn's forehead was filled with sweat. His skin was deathly pale, and he currently looked extremely weak.
System: You have been cursed by the Great Devil [1]. All Attributes were reduced by 50%, the experience received from killing monsters was reduced by 95%.
System: You have been watched by the Great Demon. The illusion of the Great Demon will come to you in thirty days. If you are killed by the illusion, your body will be taken over by the Great Devil.
"Junk! Why not make it more cruel?" Regardless of how restrained he was, Shi Feng could not bear to not curse when he saw this notice. When compared to human standards, Great Demons were comparable to Tier 4 Jobs. It was on the same level as Sword Emperor. Although it was only an illusion, it still required Sharlyn, who had a Tier 3 Job, to handle it. However, instead of aiming for Sharlyn, the Great Demon was really eyeing observers and small characters like Shi Feng.
With this curse, how could he level up? Not to mention a 50% reduction in Attributes. It caused his Attributes to sink to the level of an ordinary player. It would be a problem if he wanted to kill monsters of a higher level. He also had to face the illusion of the Great Demon
"Miss Sharlyn, are you okay?" Although he was cursed, Shi Feng still spoke politely.
Sharlyn shook her head slightly, speaking with a smile, "Nothing is too bad. I never imagined that you would actually carry such a terrifying item. You have weakened me a little. But, the problem has been resolved now. If you linger for a few more days, your body may have been possessed by that Great Devil, and your body will suffer in Hell for eternity.
"Thank you, Miss Sharlyn. If it wasn't for you, I'd probably be dead." Although Sharlyn's words felt somewhat wrong, Shi Feng still thanked her. He was pleased at the fact that he came to the Library without delay. Otherwise, he would be completely finished. However, the current problem has not been resolved.
"No need to thank me. This diary is not as simple as it seems. That's the key. Inside it recorded the method to unlock the curse at the gate. Your task now is to find the gate, enter through this diary, and find the Book of Darkness stored within. I can destroy that Book of Darkness as long as you take it for me. Once destroyed, the Great Demon would not be able to descend," Sharlyn explained.
System: Epic Mission "Darkness Invisible" accepted. Find and destroy the Book of Darkness and prevent the Great Demon from descending. The prize is unknown.
Although Shi Feng already knew about the extreme difficulty in completing an Epic Mission, there was still no need for it to be so damned! At the very least, the Mission had to tell him where to find the Book of Darkness!
In Shi Fengs previous life, Fantasy Extinguisher had completed this Mission in the Black Dragon Empire. However, Shi Feng could not go to the Black Dragon Empire just like that.
Even if he went there, the Teleportation Gate had not been activated at this stage of the game, so he had to run there. However, even if he ran until his leg was broken, he would still need to spend several months before he could reach the limit of the Black Dragon Empire.
TL Notes:
[1] Great Demon: this is a rank for Devil (not monster). This will be further explained in future chapters when Satan is better introduced.
