If Dicky had been around, the two of them wouldn't have started arguing anymore. Because there was one person between the two of them, so it was the same that it wasn't the two of them when arguing. Except three because someone is watching later. Even though their mom was watching it.
"Oh yeah, I heard Mom's voice. Are you guys calling Mama?" ask Dicky to King and Ello.

If it's like this, it looks like King and Ello are respecting superiors. Dicky is their superior, while King and Ello are Dicky's subordinates. It'll look like it!
