Due to a reason Gerion's work was delayed because he was busy taking care of Verra who now lives in his house, Gerion could not pick Verra up from school. Gerion sends money to Verra's account for the cost of a taxi. The man wrote an apology over and over again. Verra certainly could only exhale him short and respond to Gerion's message with 'yes' only.
When Verra was about to book a taxi online to drive her home, Verra was hungry. His stomach was ringing loudly. Fortunately, he was sitting at the bus stop. The bus has passed since then, the next bus hour is still about 3 hours ahead.
"Do I better eat noodle cup supermarket only yes... It can't be filling, but at least it's just for the stomach." He muttered and put the phone back in his pocket.
Verra moved from her seat, if there was a minimarket to the east of the school, there were also several other shops. He walked down the street that looked a little quiet, only a few vehicles were passing by.
"Ugh.." - UH...."
Hm? Verra turned towards the side, a small and dark alley, it was a gap between the three-meter high school wall and the wall of a shop. There were no lights there, because not many people passed through. At most that passed through it were only students who skipped through the alley connecting with the back of the school.
There was a groaning sound of pain, as he looked that voice was no longer heard by him. Maybe it was just my feelings, or a hallucination.
Verra again stepped foot to go to the minimarket which is located after the two shops where it stands now. Just one step away, Verra heard back the faint sound from that dark, narrow alley.
"Sia*an!... Bren...! Those bajin*s I'll make sure they rot in the dungeon. Shit...!"
Vaguely audible yet still somewhat obvious what the person was saying. The guy in the alley was cursing, swearing at someone.
Verra was not afraid of this kind of situation. Just voices like this, he used to dare even down the hospital corridor that was rumored haunted at night to look for air. For him, ghosts exist, but ghosts cannot be seen. Verra felt, if he had to go there and see who was whimpering in pain there.
Verra set her foot towards the alley, with a slight illumination from the dim sunlight she stepped on without fear.
He found someone, a man who seemed to be sitting limp on the ground. Verra faintly smelled the smell of blood. Verra came closer and squatted down beside the man. Staring at him intensely, his face was not clearly visible due to this lack of lighting.
"Hey, are you alive?" Verra swung her palm in front of the man's face. "If you're alive, at least answer. May you still be alive, when you're dead I'm also the one who bothered to be the first to find a dead body in a narrow alley."
Verra said to the man in front of her. He doesn't know how to deal with a situation like this. Let alone making sure this person was alive or dead, Verra did not know how to confirm it.
"Excuse me.."
Verra makes sure that he is alive or dead in his own way. Pasting his hand on the man's chest, the left chest where the heart is located. Verra felt nothing on her palm.
"Excuse me again."
Verra brought her face closer to the man's chest, then placed her ear on the left chest. Verra could still hear it. The sound of a weak heartbeat. Fyuhh, fortunately this man is still alive..
"Hey sia*an, what are you doing?! Stay away from me!" The man regained consciousness, instantly removing Verra from him by pushing Verra's head away from him.
Verra was shocked because he was suddenly pushed away, as a result he sat on dirty land. Slightly complaining of the pain of having just smelled the ground all of a sudden.
"That's rude!" Verra said withstanding annoyance.
"Who is more impolite to stick his head on people's chests?" Cynical reply.
"I'm just making sure you're alive or dead." Imbuh Verra who stood up from his seat then patted his back skirt to clean the dust attached.
The man hissed. "Stupid girl! You don't have to care about me. You should've just passed by pretending you didn't see me."
"Why really? You're a fugitive cop?" Ask Verra who was carelessly speaking.
"You're gonna get involved in my problem."
"But I don't want to get involved in your problems. Now, can I help you? My conscience can't just stand by and look at it." Verra could not deny it. Although he never hangs out with the crowd, he has a heart. Consciousness hurt.
Verra pulled out her phone, in a narrow alley with minimal lighting there was only a beam of light from the phone screen that made Verra's face clearly visible in the dark.
"I told you, my conscience hurts if I let people get hurt just like that. I'll help you." Verra was still focusing on her phone, she booked a taxi online to take this man to the hospital.
Heningβ Verra has got a taxi driver who is heading here. Grateful that the driver is not human, AI. If a human would be the driver would ask a lot of questions about the man, and Verra would have to lie again if it were like that.
Verra's forehead shriveled, it seemed like the man had continued to invite her to a fight. The online taxi driver point already indicates a stop in front of the alley. "Can you still stand? I'll take you to the hospital, the online taxi's in front of the alley."
There's no answer.
Verra crouched down again, her palm swinging in front of the man's face. There was no response. "Dam. If you want to faint again at least later when it reaches the car. Just bother." Verra was upset because the man had fainted. Verra is lazy if you have to pick someone up to the car in front of the alley.
Verra grabbed the man's hand, with all her might she pulled it and placed it on her small shoulder. The man's body was lifted up and sustained by Verra. The man's right hand was embracing Verra's small shoulder, and Verra's right hand was holding the man's body by hugging his waist from behind. Slowly move a little. Shitty, why is this guy so heavy?!
Verra managed to get the man into a taxi. Verra sat on the other side, while the man was left leaning against the other side window.
He slowly opened his eyes as he was disturbed by the vibrations. It looks like a beautiful dark purple bead. The tail of his eyes glanced, all he saw was the sight of the city. Then glanced at the other side, seeing a girl with pink eyes like cherry blossoms sitting still while looking out.
Did he really save me? I thought it was just bullshit...
He moved even though the wounds on his body hurt so much he moved a little. It then leaned on the shoulder of the girl who saved him and hugged his waist tightly.
Verra was shocked to suddenly be hugged just like that, let alone seem like the man just kept quiet and suddenly hugged her like this. His hand moved by itself, he was embracing the man's shoulder. Verra doesn't know what to do but do this.
"You're a good man..." The man spoke in a small and soft voice, of course, it could still be heard by Verra.
Verra is silent Good guy? He is the antagonist, the antagonist is the villain. "I'm not as good as you think I am. This is my good side, my bad side is worse than this." Verra replied.
"Then why did you save me?"
"No, I didn't save you but only helped you this time. If you die after this I won't care."
"Thank you..." The man said sincerely, how long has he not felt this kind of warmth. Although Verra's words sounded cold and uncaring, she still felt warm with the treatment of the girl.
"Name..what's your name?" The man asked, so that he could thank and pay this debt easily if he knew his name.
Verra glanced at a glance. The pink bead met the dark purple iris for a few seconds, the handsome face of the man he saved contained a few scratches, looking at him weakly. Verra turned her eyes out the window.
"Verra, just call me that." Verra said indifferently.
"Full name, so I can easily find you after this. Verra's name is already on the market."
Verra thought for a moment. If he said his full name, he was confused to have to say 'Verra Atkinson' or 'Verra Stevenson'.
"Let's know, Verra is Emerald High School's student troublemaker. You'll know." Verra answered him origin.
The man's forehead is grinning, why is this girl so strange? The dark purple bead glanced at the nametag that was on Verra's chest. 'Atkinson's'. The girl's last name is Atkinson. He'll remember.
"Thank you... Verras..."
Verra did not respond to his thanks, the eyes were fixed on the city view outside the window.
