...Losing is the worst thing I don't want to experience, let alone losing the only family I have....
...-elise Anderson...
Elise worked well in the office as usual. Since Julian did not become CEO in the Eldi group branch Benjamin assigned another person who became CEO there and had already started working two days ago.
Elise found out that the man had been hospitalized by her own father and she did not know why. What is clear is that the current atmosphere of the office feels different, since he became the official secretary of Elise again busy in her office.
Just like Julian, Fiona was also not in the office. From the news of the passing wind, Elise catches the news that Fiona stopped suddenly. Of course some employees were surprised - some were indifferent because they already knew about Fiona's misdeeds about the design issues that led to their designers being fired from the company.
So far Elise doesn't care about the bad news about her, she'll just focus on work and this weekend she plans to go visit her father in Boston. With a faint smile Elise walked out of her office, towards the meeting room that was about to start in a few minutes.
Elise's leg automatically fell silent as she looked at the empty room next to her— before the room was empty, there was where Nicolas worked. Yesterday he cleaned things up and stopped, apparently he had it all taken care of so Nicolas was easy to get out of the company.
They already say goodbye. Nicolas says he won't be leaving New York right now, he'll still be living there for a few days before going abroad. Elise feels a pity because she will be abandoned by her best friend, but because it was Nicolas's decision so she can't ban him.
"I have to get back to work"
After saying that, Elise left. Everyone was already present as soon as he came, thank goodness he was on time.
As she sits down and starts the presentation, her gawai suddenly rings, featuring a phone call from her best friend Hana. Tumben, normally Hana would never call him during these business hours his best friend knew when to call, so when he did something out of his habit it made Elise worried.
"Just say it first. I'll replace your part,"
Elise nodded and accepted the offer of the new assistant CEO. He interrupted to ask permission and then came out of the meeting room—somewhat far from there, he picked up the call and his heart was racing.
"What's? Dad, accident?"
Bak is struck by lightning in broad daylight, news from his best friend makes Elise speechless on the spot.
"This is so sudden. I—aku also just found out from my assistant, currently uncle is in the hospital. The accident happened all of a sudden, Elise, don't blame yourself"
Clearly Hana with a soft and vibrating voice.
Elise's breath was piqued. He could not help his tears that burst out from his eyelids, letting feelings of sadness and regret overwhelm him.
Elise sat on the floor with her hands still clutching the device. Hana has not ended the call, she can not leave her best friend grieving alone because that's why she also hurriedly came to the office Elise using her car.
"Stay there. I'll pick you up, let's go to the hospital together okay?"
Though not to be seen by her best friend Elise nodded weakly. He immediately stood up, went to his office and asked permission to go home early—he also said his reason and Elise's superior allowed him to go home.
His strings again shook, now the name seen there is Lucas.
Because of his hoarse voice Lucas immediately knew that Elise was crying.
"You're in the office, right? I'll pick you up"
Elise immediately refused.
"It's okay. Hana wants to pick me up, brother Lucas doesn't have to come here"
"What's going on? Can you tell me?"
Elise was hesitant to tell me about her father. But he was more uncomfortable if he had to lie, especially Lucas had helped him a lot during this time.
That's why he answered honestly.
"Dad was in an accident and now that he's hospitalized, I don't know what his condition is now but I'm afraid, what if you don't wake up again? I should've gone home that time my—, I'm afraid dad left like mom."
Elise was whining while crying. Lucas who heard him speechless, only this time he heard Elise crying—he knew Elise loved her father very much, therefore she felt very worried.
"He must be fine. At which hospital was he treated? I'll go over there and accompany you,"
"The XX hospital"
"Now you go with your best friend. I'm gonna wait in that hospital, everything's gonna be okay"
Lucas is gone too. He quickly drove his car to the hospital, he did not want to let Elise alone—especially when she was down like this.
The first one was Lucas. But it turns out that in the room where Elise's father was treated there was already the figure of Benjamin.
"Dad here?"
Lucas asked briefly. Somewhat surprised to see the figure of the father who sat quietly in the waiting chair in front of the room caring for Elise's father.
"You came here quickly. Where is July?"
Lucas' feet stepped up to sit beside his father, he answered the question briefly while looking forward.
"He's still working"
"Your squad? What's he working for?"
"Shop clerk. The customers liked his face because it was handsome, he received many tips despite working not too long ago"
Benjamin nodded in satisfaction. He was happy to hear his son trying to be alone, without asking him for help as support apparently Julian could work like that.
"That's great. She had to learn to work from the bottom with her own efforts, thanks for teaching your sister"
His hand patted Lucas' shoulder slowly, in appreciation for being nice as Julian's older brother.
Lucas smiled and Elise appeared with her friend Hana.
"Mr Benjamin"
Benjamin stood up as soon as he heard Elise's voice. He looked at her, then approached Elise who was walking towards them.
"Gio must be fine. You don't have to worry,"
The short speech was successful in making Elise's heart collapse. He came back crying, in front of Benjamin and Lucas who were now looking at him worriedly.
His hands wiped his own tears. Elise was sure her father would be fine, she had to be sure.
"Thank you, Mr. Benjamin"
Benjamin immediately hugged the woman he thought was his son, Elise's hand trembling as she returned his embrace.
"I told you to call me Dad. I will do my best for my best friend, rest assured that everything will be fine"
Elise nodded in her arms. She could not help it anymore, the fear of loss and abandonment that she felt was so strong—Elise did not want her father to go after her mother, she was still not ready for it.
