Mandelin, Hasan, Immanuel and Nessi were eating together at a large, long dining table. They sat on one side and enjoyed the alternating dishes served by the servants in the dark mansion.

Immanuel seemed troubled by his knife, and almost made Mandelin scold him. But Nessi swiftly swapped his plate for Immanuel's plate. Nessi had dismembered the meat steak on her plate for Immanuel.
