Qi Yuan's message was simple, but it wasn't that it was easy to execute. Qi Ling recalled the old woman's message until this second. He was able to hold many memories but he remembered Qi Yuan's message because it tied up a promise. Promise, Qi Ling had never agreed to a promise to anyone. Promises are demons and angels, difficult to distinguish. Those who can walk among them are those who can fulfill the promise. But Qi Ling was not that kind of human.
Qi Yuan's message to Qi Ling before going to war was, "Protect Qi Feng. Protect him, and bring him back to me." Qi Yuan asked Qi Ling to bring Qi Feng, his cousin, back to Shengcun Village, Yuanyang County, Yunnan Province in good health.
Qi Ling tried to keep that promise. With a body that had been filled with heavy wounds, he passed through hundreds of corpses that were fast asleep on the ground.
Hearing the sound of a loud stuffing from one of the bodies lying down, Qi Ling immediately approached him. "Qi Feng!" Call Qi Ling.
The man named Qi Feng turned his head, then tightened his cries. "Qi Ling's! I thought you were dead!"
Qi Ling smiled, then extended her long hand at the man. "Can you walk? We're leaving now."
Qi Feng shook his head towards the side as if refusing. While continuing to whine like a baby, he received a helping of Qi Ling.
Qi Feng's left hand hugged Qi Ling's neck. Trudgingly, they walked together, out of the battle zone.
"Is this our only value?" Asked Qi Feng who was defecating on the grass. "We left Shengcun to prosper our surname. Maybe drop one or two generals. But forget about the enemy. The only thing we cut is grass to make way."
"We were given a knife instead of a spear. And now we're on the losing side." Imbuh Qi Feng's.
Qi Ling was sitting on a rock, just silently listening to all the nonsense chatter coming out of Qi Feng's mouth. The man never stopped talking. The times he stopped talking were the times he thought about his future wife, as well as the times he focused on his poop wanting to get out.
The sound of the clattering of horse paws from the back of the tree that was being presented by Qi Ling made Qi Ling realize it first compared to Qi Feng. He immediately stood up from his seat and stabbed the enemy troops with the sword he had picked up from a few days ago.
"Qi Ling, what's wrong?"
"It's okay."
Looking at Qi Ling's clothes that were moistened by the patches of fresh blood, Qi Feng also realized that something terrible had just happened.
Qi Ling was different from Qi Feng. The man did not live in a house that contained people. He lives on a mountain like an animal, even he hunts more often than their own village hunter.
Qi Ling was a monster.
"It's over, right?" Qi Ling asked.
His pointed thick eyebrows, as well as his wild-like stare style, often make him look terrible in the eyes of many people. Clumsily, Qi Feng nodded.
They also walked back with Qi Feng's left hand which still needed to hug Qi Ling's strapping neck. Both are too exhausted.
Two days they had been together, but there was not a single village they could meet.
Desperate incitement began to haunt Qi Feng. He began to think that dying here was better than walking and dying later.
He glanced at Qi Ling's face. After all they had been through, the man beside him should have been more exhausted than Feng qi, but what the hell was that face? why can he still smile? why are his eyes twinkling? Why was his hope for life still greater than Qi Feng?
Feeling annoyed, Qi Feng roared as well. "There's no way I'm going to die, I'm Qi Feng!"
Qi Ling turned his head to Qi Feng, then shouted a similar thing. "I won't die either! because I am Qi Ling!"
They laughed together, but the stomachs that were aching from enduring hunger did not let them be happy for so long. They are back hit by the fact that they still haven't survived. Although there is a large field, there is not seen a single village that can be lived in for a while.
"This area was flooded by corpses from the fight 4 days ago." Qi Ling.
His head felt light, his eyes were sleepy. His body fell to the front, hitting one of the bodies.
Qi Feng who was already unconscious was silent, leaning on the evergreen tree that dangled perpendicular to the top.
A small woman, with her neat clothes, as well as black hair cut off by her neck, looked to be lamenting Qi Ling with her two round eyes that had pupils brighter than a human normally would, I then ran off somewhere, leaving Qi Ling alone there.
...----------------...
The glimmering sound of a sparrow in the morning awakened Qi Feng from his sleep. The first thing he saw was not the last thing he saw before falling asleep. He saw a roof that set eyes, as well as padded pads on their heads. Qi Feng was more convinced that someone had saved their lives.
"Qi Ling.. Where are we?" Asked Qi Feng.
Qi Ling sat down, and gave a wide grin. "Let's know, most importantly, we survived."
Yep. They certainly survived. After a few stressful steps capable of shattering even the resolve of one's life, they survived. Falling asleep and waking up as if yesterday was a beautiful day.
The sound of the door shifting made the two men turn their heads under the soles of their respective feet. A beautiful woman came with a bottle of liquor. With her erotic red lips poised, she looked at all of them with a glaring gaze.
"Are you the one who saved us?" Asked Qi Feng who instantly blinked from his sleep and sat down politely.
"Hey, watch your words, Qi Ling!" Reproach Qi Feng.
"He's my son." That woman's. "You've been asleep for 3 whole days. Settle down until you're fully recovered."
Qi Feng prostrated back. "Thank you, miss."
"Call me Yue. Chen Yue." Her request. "Yuna, please bring 3 cups."
A girl with the same bright eyes as on that night, came over to Yue, carrying the three cups that had been ordered. She was the girl that Qi Ling saw before falling asleep. Chen Yuna, she was the woman who saved their lives.
Yuna put the three cups on the low wooden table, then Yue, the mother poured a drunken liquid named Baijiu over it, he allowed Qi Ling as well as Qi Feng to eat the drink whenever they wanted.
"Thank you." Said Qi Feng, before taking the cup and drinking it lustfully. Qi Ling crossed her arms in front of her chest, completely unwilling to touch the cup.
"Not drunk?" Ask Yue.
"No. We'll leave as soon as the idiot gets drunk." Qi Ling replied, sneering towards Qi Feng.
"Ah, why the rush?" Qi Feng asked, with his wide, wrinkled eyes.
"really. Why the hurry? you're fugitives, you're." Sahut Yue's.
"Buronan?" Repeated Qi Feng.
"Yes. I heard that they're still targeting the fugitive forces because the southern army general hasn't been captured yet." Bright Yue. "One of you must marry Yuna and stay here forever."
"What do you want, Yuna?" Bargain Yue. Yuna then looked at Qi Ling for quite a while, and after that moved on to Qi Feng.
"Uhh, no! I can't!" Chirp Qi Feng who was already drunk. "I already have-"
"You're overconfident." Cut Yuna off, before escaping from the room.
Yue the mother looked at him petty, then said, "he always refuses to mature."
...----------------...
The noisy insects filled the silence of the forest with their loud cries. Qi Ling came carrying a straw basket and started to pluck out a piece of mushroom one by one randomly.
Five little fingers went into his basket, and seized the mushrooms he had picked up, and discarded them in every direction. The man threw his hand and when it was halfway through, he realized that the thief was just Yuna.
"What are you doing?" Qi Ling asked.
"Red mushroom." Reply Yuna. "Mildew panther. Toxic, also deadly..You tried to kill us, Qi Ling?"
A squirrel eats its nuts voraciously over a twig. The roar of the wind blew the trees violently, giving rise to a noisy rustling sound.
Qi Ling crouched down on the ground, watching the ins and outs of a mushroom closely. His eyebrows blurted out, his thick lips growing further apart each time Qi Ling flipped through the mushrooms in his hands.
Yuna behind him, stood up, silently watching. In his hand, he carried a basket of mushrooms that Qi Ling had brought. "Why don't you ask me any questions?" Yuna asked, breaking the silence between the two.
"Hm? about what?" reply Qi Ling.
"On how we can make a living." Reply Yuna. "Also my age, where my father is, why do I live in the mountains with my mother, why do I wear a bracelet with bound bells..."
"I'm not Qi Feng." Reply to Qi Ling, then return to pay attention to the small mushroom before him. "How old are you?"
"15."
"A body small enough for a child your age." Chirps Qi Ling.
"Whispering. How old are you?" Reply Yuna.
"17. So was Qi Feng." Qi Ling replied, before plucking the mushroom and putting it in the basket.
"I thought you were 30." Yuna Ledek.
Qi Ling sneered, and after that walked away to look for another mushroom. "Oh, yeah, I have a question." Qi Ling. "What are you doing? the night you saved us... in an area full of dead bodies?"
Yuna flinkered, then smiled. "We are thieves." The answer.
