Handing the First Tumbar

Mak felt uncomfortable with the long-sleeved nightgown Nilam gave him. His daily life is often berbaya and array makes him awkward to wear ordinary clothes.

“Against practice, Mak. Let the movement is good,” said Nilam while combing Mak's long thin hair. “We're going to the salon tomorrow, tidy up the hair, nih, how many years do not cut?”

“Ah, important Mak clean only, do not think of any haircut, hehee.”

“Hust dong, Mak. Let it look fresh. Beautiful child, her mother should also be cantiik.” Mak was misbehaved, hitting Nilam's jaily arm plan.

The invitation to dinner by Maemunah made Nilam nervous, this was the first time he felt taken so seriously by the family. Especially now there is Mak beside him, inwardly hoping that the beloved woman also feels happy.

After Isya, Nilam just invited Mak to Babe's house. He knew the family must have prayed in time, coming after Magrib would interrupt their gaze waiting for Isha.

“Thank you so much for keeping Nilam here,” Mak said to Maemunah. After eating they sit back in a bale-bale overlooking a small garden in the back. There is a small goldfish pond, illuminated by quite bright lights, a cool wind as if stroking them.

“Ah, Nilam can take care of himself, never macem-macem. The most work-sleeping is workannye. Occasionally aje out ame si Juki,” explained Maemunah excitedly. She is a woman who likes to be fiery when talking, as if the energy of her voice never runs out. Mak smiled and heard.

“Iya, New. Sampe kos ‘kan already tired, want to walk already lazy out again,” Nilam said while struggling on the shoulders of Mak.

Maemunah used to talk to the boarding children, therefore all residents of the boarding house did not hesitate to him. They are at home with the hospitality of the Babe family.

In the living room, Hanif was with Babe. Although in front of the TV they did not turn on the flat-sailing electronics. Babe told me about Hanif's teacher's arrival two nights ago and a common prayer at home. How many more days he promised to return here, because he had to divide his time with the dense activities in the cottage.

Babe also asked a lot about their situation when in Nilam village. Hanif also told me about him and Juju who had lost their way, making the big-eyed man stroke his chest, giving thanks many times.

“Alhamdulillah, God still protect you ... God love outge kite, Nif. Otherwise, ugh, Babe can't shadow!” Thank goodness Babe was unrelenting, approaching and patting Hanif on the shoulder.

Babe felt this was thanks to the power of prayer and fasting when his son left for Nilam village. Babe and his wife were still fasting.

Eight o'clock, Nilam and Mak pamit.

“Still, Be, already full to go home,” joked Nilam while nodding lightly as he passed Babe and Hanif.

“Iye, jan is reluctant to come here, ye. Ade ape-ape just say,” replied Babe. Maemunah who walked beside Mak also gave the same message.

They drove Nilam and Mak up to the terrace. The girl was flattered by the treatment of Babe's family. He was grateful\, although never gave something_more often troublesome_but loved in such a way by this family.

“Be, Hanif can talk?” As soon as Nilam, Hanif half whispered into his father's ear.

“Talk?” Babe's big eyes scanned him closely. “Mo talk ape? Kan, from earlier kite udeh by the way.”

Hanif was misbehaved, the two cold palms clinging to each other.

Babe invites them back to sit in the living room, the man raises his body, supports his hands on his knees while looking seriously at Hanif's face.

“G-gini, Be.” Hanif set his breath, Babe's gaze that was seen waiting for it made it hard to think. “What if Hanif proposed to Nilam?” he was quick, had a quick glance at Babe's reaction in front of him gaping.

Hanif was bowed, his hands were getting colder, it could not be hidden if he was very nervous.

“Hahahaaa.” Instead of answering Babe even gushed laughter.

The boy held a stiff smile. Hanif relieved already said, now waiting for the response of the man who laughed while holding the stomach. Maemunah appeared from the kitchen, asking what until Babe laughed so funny.

“This is a man's business, you will be ajeeratin,” Babe replied, his wife returned to the kitchen with a face full of questions, let alone he saw Hanif looked wrong.

“Cock impromptu start? Kan, just returned home, ade ape emang?” Babe tried to pry, after fixing the position of the waist sheath he moved to the sofa beside Hanif.

“Gini, Be ... Hanif has never been close to a girl .. only now.” Hanif hung up his sentence. Babe rubbed his chin while nodding.

This young man then said, that he really wanted Nilam as a wife, in addition to the condition of the girl needed help to always be reminded, Hanif also felt he had a desire to get married. All this time he tried to maintain physical contact with the opposite sex, but with Nilam he violated it.

“Thenneye?’

“Ha-Hanif someapakali skin contact with her, Be.” This young man looked so full of guilt.

Babe nodded again, thinking about his son's words.

“Teacher offers Hanif teaching in the cottage, if married Hanif can focus on making a living for the family, Be. Hanif does not want to procrastinate, perfecting religion is mandatory law if there is a desire to go there.”

“Yes, Babe understands. But ... ape Nilam already know?”

Instantly Hanif raised his face, turned his head and met Babe's gaze.

“Die should know first, it's not good when suddenly applied. Could-can die feel awkward, you dirime just because of the same reluctance cave, not because demen amu lu. Kan, berabe affairs?”

Hanif's heart beat is getting worse. He felt a little anxious if he had to ask the girl directly, not for fear of rejection, but whether he could say it or not? This is really the first experience he will ‘shoot’ the opposite sex.

Babe then gave her a message.

At her place Babe pensively. Somehow he suddenly remembered Juju. His feeling was pinched.

“Nilaaam, Nilaaaam ..”

A hoarse voice echoed from outside, alarming the girl's sleep.

When he woke up, he realized the hoarse voice must be from someone who always bothered him. Nilam beristighfar, focus on hearing words from his own mouth and ignore the increasingly loud calls.

The girl immediately woke up, wudu then returned to lie down because she felt still very sleepy. The call continued to be heard from outside. However, Nilam tried to drown himself in Al-Fatihah which slid from the tongue until back to sleep.

“Loh, where are you going, Ni?” Juju stops the motor near Nilam who just came out of the fence.

“Hai, Ju. To Bulek next door, Mak asked to buy vegetables, want to cook yourself.” The yellow-sweater girl with the hair on one's tail momentarily stopped Juki's heartbeat. Nilam's natural face was not polished whatsoever, looking radiant.

“Loe, all right ‘right? Eh, he means nothing strange?” Juju was confused at her own question.

Nilam laughed a little. “I should be the one, you're fresh, have you entered work?”

Juju clenched her hands, showing the bulging muscles behind her jacket. “Not seen this? It must be healthy, Alhamdulillah. I want to go to work, no work at home.”

Nilam closed his mouth so as not to break. “Work, but how to get here?”

“Iya would like to see you. Hahaa, meet Babe, something important.” Juju parked the motor in the yard, as it went down he felt an odd swish sniffling. This young man returned to the gate, looking at Nilam walking on the sidewalk.

While walking the girl remembered what vegetables to buy. The small kitchen behind it is rarely used except for boiling instant noodles. Though there is a home vegetable seller not far from Babe's house, only Nilam lazy to cook.

Instantly, feeling something heavy gripping his nape, Nilam staggered. It feels like someone is dragging him.

The girl's body dragged to the edge will go to the middle of a crowded road, suddenly making a loud horn unpretentious warning. The wind from the fast car hit Nilam's body, until it bounced backwards when Juju pulled his body hard to the back.

In the same instant, Nilam saw the figure of a dark-clothed man seeming to be walking quickly away.

“Loe this is why, Ni?!” Juju reprimanded hard enough. He did not care about Nilam's body shaking violently, leaning on his chest. The handicap of the rider who thought the girl was suicidal, made a pain in the corner of his heart.

“Yes Allah, almost your life is gone. Look, not this serame street loe even nyelonong to sono, istighfar, Ni!” Juju vented her annoyance and anxiety. Because of this he barely breathed, slow just a little movement earlier, the girl was unimaginable condition again ….

Patchouli was sobbing, his shoulders were shaking, enduring pain and fear.

Didn't Juju see that guy?

Yes, Nilam knew Juju thought he was the one who deliberately ran to the middle of the road. I sat down shuddering, this must be the terror still lurking in his life in another way.

After Nilam calmed down enough Juju patted his shoulder.

“Sorry ... I'm just worriedin, loe ...” He ruffled the head of Nilam. “Yuk, I bring vegetables to Mak,” persuaded him to reply Nilam with a weak nod.

Juju clasped his hands into the vegetable stall, about ten meters away. When he asked Mak any message, Nilam forgot. Juki finally chose whichever one he wanted to buy.

The girl was speechless still with the rest of her hustle at Juju's side. The young man also did not take his hand off until he finished shopping.

“Married, yes? Friendly very,” goda Bulek warung.

“New bride do not fuss, let alone to kill herself, dear beautiful,” timpal bald-headed father who was sipping coffee. Juju replies with a stifled smile, after thanking him and Nilam for coming home.

All the way up to the fence they didn't say a word. Nilam struggled with his fear

and Juju is struggling with her ungodly feelings.

They meet Babe in the foyer, as the middle-aged man grabs a pet bird. Babe's eyes were immediately fixed on their clutched hands and saw also the hand next to Juju who was carrying plastic, spinach leaves emerged from the mouth of the black crackle.

Babe rubbed his face, feeling that something was stirring in his mind.

“Kenape?” he asked the two young men with tense faces.

“This Patchouli, Be. Almost wretched on the road.”

“Masha Allah.” Only that word came from Babe when Juju told me a glimpse of what happened.
