This is the seventh day of Mia's departure.
All family members are more silent than interacting with each other.
There was hardly any warm communication, for all were in a state of mourning and busy with their respective sorrows.
Even so, Mia's son and daughter-in-law were all hand-in-hand to hold a recitation each night for seven consecutive days.
They compactly work together though without the usual warm and cheerful chatter.
"Yes...! Our mother is gone. Mas Alif and I have also moved house in our house in Jelambar area. Gaga. Especially now that no mother usually goes with Gaga. How, Mas?" Tia tries to compromise with Rama, her older brother about Gaga.
"Inay is already married. Automatically will certainly soon be brought Mas Arthur to his home. I am also now assigned to the Banten area by Mr. Bimo. So.., we'd better meet Ms. Fanny. We thank you for giving us such a decent place all along. We, return the keys to this house to him. We move to the nearest place of activity. How's it?"
Tia and Gaga nodded.
"I'm with Rama!" tia said as if handing over all decisions to Rama.
Inayah herself is now returning from Fanny's house to Arthur's house which is not too far away. Only different complexes, because it is still in the same housing.
Fanny accepts the decision her sons Mia took. His house is now empty again because the residents decided to move one by one.
The one that Fanny asked for, whatever her condition was, Fanny wanted her sisters Amelia to think of herself as their mother. Always open and ready if you want advice.
Of course, the kindness of Fanny made everything moved happily until she hugged her mother-in-law Amelia tightly.
Meanwhile, Frederica and Joko return to San Francisco the day after Mia's death.
There hasn't been much interaction between the in-laws and the daughter-in-law. But both of them could see that Inayah was a good and innocent child.
Inayah could trust him to take care of his only adult son but sometimes his efficacy exceeds that of children.
"Titip Arthur, yes Inayah! Don't be so fucked up with her. Sometimes the child needs to be debated. Don't just say his words. Hehe..."
During these two days Frederica did see Inayah just nodding and according to what Arthur said. So Frederica and Joko judge that Arthur is the dominant figure in the relationship.
Though it was all because Inayah was still in shock and did not know what to do except obey the words of the husband who was much more understanding in all matters including the funeral business of Mia, his mother.
"I'm sorry, Inayah, Mi! Haven't had time to host Mami and Papi properly because,"
"Ssttt...! Next time we will come again. Don'worry. Mama is deeply sad, right? Mami was happy, had a chance to talk directly with your mother. Mami is also happy, Mami's daughter-in-law is a good and reliable person. Even though your age is far away, but... Mami sees Arthur being a different person. Much different and wiser and happy."
Inayah smiled. He received the warm embrace of his in-laws. Her tears were dripping remembering how much she missed Mia who had even died a week ago.
Frederica's speech with Indonesian pronunciation that faseh like a native Indonesian makes Inayah embrace Frederica again tightly. Making Joko and Arthur look at each other and smile happily.
The two women became familiar quickly. Unlike Joko who was originally quiet.
Last night Joko and Arthur had a serious conversation in Arthur's study.
At that time, Frederica and Inayah had slept soundly in their respective rooms after the tahlilan recitation which was completed at nine pm.
"Arthur...!"
"Yes, Pi?"
"If I were your Papa, but honestly I don't know you too deeply. From a young age, you choose things that are out of your mind. Even until now, you who used to hate the hijab women who you thought were hypocritical women. But right now, you're marrying a young hijab girl. Even you enter into his religion. Whereas in the past you prefer mature women who have given birth. Now your wife is very young, 18 years old. I really cannot judge your heart."
"But... I just want to remind you one thing. This girl is still so innocent. Young girl and... Papi, please, you can take care of him. Do not do anything that disappoints your family. Remember that, Arthur!" joko said again.
Arthur nodded slowly.
"I'm not the old Arthur anymore, Pi! I learned a lot after I met Inayah. Yes, I used to hate Muslims. Especially her saintly woman wearing long clothes and covering her head with a veil. I hate those who, despite looking like a nun, have a bad mouth to comment on everything that is not her business. Right. I used to be sick of seeing beautiful Muslim women in long clothes but still want to look fashionable. Sok-sokan said love Muhammad, but acted and followed the trend of the infidels. That was. Before I knew Mak Mia and her sons and daughters including Inayah. I don't know why. After I got to know the family, I felt how foolish I was to generalize all Muslims as unkind. Apparently not. It is wrong, not his religion. The character of people. And everyone has an ugly nature with no religious frills. Religion leads a person in a better direction. And if the religious person cannot bring himself into good character, it is not his religion. But maybe that is the purpose of God creating people who are diverse in nature and character. I was too stupid in the past, Papi. And I don't want to continue being a fool who doesn't believe in God and all His goodness."
Joko smiled.
There was relief despite being a little disappointed.
His son no longer believed in him. But his son was now softer and wiser even than himself.
Joko happy.
"As long as you don't follow a hard stream and easily forgive people. I'm so proud of your achievements, Arthur."
"Thank you, Papi. Thank you for being a good Papi even though your son is disappointing to the end, it still makes you disappointed."
"You're still my son, no matter what. We remain your parents, who gave birth and raised. Call us even if you are busy. Because parents really need children until the end of our lives. I want to die like Mia's mother. Surrounded by his son and daughter-in-law. He was given the highest respect as a parent. Praying, even though He is called the Almighty. I... want to die like that!"
Arthur hugged Joko's body.
"May God bless you, Arthur!"
"Aamiin yes rabbal'alamin..."
