ALKISAH: Prayer for the World [1001 Indonesian Fantasy Stories]
STORY: Go home

The golden tower was about a hundred meters away from where Joni was standing. But in reality, Joni had absolutely no idea how could the tower suddenly appear there. Amidst the vast green meadows covered in twilight sun rays, the tower stood firm while exuding its incomparable splendor.

“But, you know, Lord, if all that matters now,” Joni murmured as she stared at the tower blankly and hopelessly.

But in the end, Joni began to walk up to the tower. Every step of the way, Joni somehow felt a great pain, and her tears flowed unnoticed, while her hollow eyes were still fixed on the golden tower.

Images of the past and future are mixed in Joni's view.

The memory was still clearly engraved in his memory. And what was arising within him, was the most terrible feeling he had ever felt during his lifetime.

Joni was completely unable to do anything when people in black suits came into her hut and slammed a large pouch right in front of her eyes. But, as the creepy men left, Joni immediately sat down, and with the rest of the courage flowing in her veins, Joni reached for the pouch with a trembling hand, then open the bag.

From the beginning, he knew very well what was in the bag. But, he also could not hold his body. Her body, controlled by her feelings, chose to open the bag for thousands of uncertain reasons.

Well, it's his sister. Although her face had turned as white as paper, Joni still recognized her as Joni knew herself.

The rich jerk took Keyla only because they both took the wooden branches in his forest without asking for permission. The bastard snatched Keyla from Joni because he was a poor man who had nothing. He takes the only treasure, and Joni's life purpose. But now, that goal has completely disappeared.

“Justice... I believe in You, Lord.... I believe You have created justice in this world. However.. unfortunately man has killed that justice.”

The picture of the past slowly fades from Joni's eyes, replaced by a picture of the future that is not yet real and red.

Although only a glance, Joni could see herself lying on the ground among the grass, with a smashed body and a blood pattern scattering it. What a terrible picture. Whether it's real or not, Joni will find out in a moment.

After a long journey up the stairs, Joni finally reached the top of the tower. From there, he could see the beauty of the world that had been created by God, as well as the horrors that existed because of human activities.

Lush trees surrounded this meadow, and far away, he could also see the village where he lived, which was full of evil and heartless humans.

However, Joni realized, there was someone who was staring at her from afar. Right where Joni was standing staring at this tower, there was a child who was the same age as Keyla.

It was far away, but Joni could clearly see the color of her hair that was as pure gold, as well as her eyes that were yellow like the morning sun, she said, also his clean white clothes and swayed by the wind make it look very striking like a miracle.

“I... don't want to die... “

“But, He has called you home.” Said a voice from behind Joni.

“Eh?”

Joni felt a strong urge from the two tiny arms of the person, and it was too late to dodge.

It was truly a miracle, because the golden-haired boy had given Joni the answer she needed since yesterday.

Joni fell into the empty air, and continued to plunge towards the land, but her eyes still looked at the golden-haired boy who was getting further up there.

“Thank you... “

Slowly but surely, Joni finally closed both eyelids, while thanking the Creator who has made it alive until now.

The world is dark.

Even so, nothing terrible happened. There was no body of a homeless boy at the base of the tower, no blood red, and no death. There are only green light dust scattered in the air, and rose into the sky until invisible.
