Arselan System: AI Controller
Chapter 029: Leadership Class

"I—" Ats bowed and stared at his now dead dress, "Just curious about the tragedy that happened ten years ago."

"Tragedies? What do you mean the accident that befell the Empire's Third Fleet?" guess Master Snoug. Ats nodded. Perhaps there was some advice he could get by telling this wise teacher.

"Ah, has anything been bothering you lately?" Magister Snoug was curious. He was one of the teachers who noticed Ats' background all along. So, he could slightly understand why Ats was investigating it. Only, he still had to confirm his conjecture.

"Disturbing?" Ats thought about it for a moment. Actually, there are things that have been bothering him lately. However, it felt faint and had nothing to do with his unease right now. He also answered only. "Maybe because I'm too tired lately, Magister."

"Tired? Is it because Master Khaled trained you too much?" Magister Snoug guessed. Ats smiled and replied, "Training from him is hard, but I can defend well there."

"Hais ... don't force yourself if it's too heavy" Magister Snoug suggested, "Master Khaled won't hurt you just because you're out of his class."

"I understand, but I will stay there" Ats replied optimistically. After all, he did like the Zarah Class. Although he had no ambition to become a renowned zarahian practitioner, he was determined to become a strong practitioner like his father.

"Okay, it's up to you" Magister Snoug handed him a special pair of glasses for the lesson time, "We'll start his class now."

When Ats put on the glasses, he could immediately see a three-dimensional projector appearing on the table. The function of the projector is the same as the discs that hold the Arselan. They both emit three-dimensional holograms, but this projector is a generation that has not been updated. Well, obviously Arselan is more sophisticated.

"We will begin this class by understanding the meaning of leadership" says Magister Snoug. His index finger pressed a button on the table. A moment later, two words appeared floating there.

"Leadership and management," said Master Snoug reading the two writings, "Do you think it's the same thing or two different things?"

"Em—" Ats observed the two words, only then replied, "One thing is the same."

"Hm, why is that?" Magister Snoug asked for the reason.

"Because both are controlling" replied Ats confidently. Magister Snoug also smiled knot. He responded, "In that case, you are not wrong. Leadership and management both have the nature of control over things under their authority. However, the two words were actually different."

Magister Snoug pressed the two futuristic words. In an instant, the size of the two slightly shrank, then gave birth to other derived words. Each of these words has a different illustration.

Under the word "Leadership" there is the word inspiration, guidance, alignment, and control. On the "Management" side, there is the word planning, organizing, directing, and controlling.

"Well, from this chart, what can you conclude?" Magister Snoug asked again.

Ats thought about it carefully. His brain thinks faster than Arselan's analysis. Soon, he replied, "Leadership has something more complex that allows it to inspire and nurture people under its responsibility."

"What is complex?" Magister Snoug demanded a more detailed answer.

"Like—" Ats came back to think about it quickly, "Karisma ..., maybe?"

"Well, that's one of them," Magister Snoug nodded slightly and pressed one side on the projection, "Then, let's look at the following illustration."

The director has many employees. He assigns certain tasks to his employees with the authority he has. They followed the order simply because it was their duty. When the director orders anything other than his duties, those employees will refuse or be inclined to do so without sincerity at all.

"See the director!" Magister Snoug stopped the illustration on the projector table, "What do you think?"

"Dia—" Ats paused to analyze the illustration, only to then reply, "A manager, but without the charisma of a leader."

"Just right!" Master Snoug confirmed, "In this case, he is a manager, but not a true leader."

The illustration continued. There was a large building where the director worked. A moment later, the illustration seemed to shake. Hm, the projector showed catastrophic conditions. In the illustration this time, there is a man who on top of his head there is the inscription "Pak Satpam".

As the ground level shook, the people inside the building panicked. They ran here and there looking for shelter. The security guard was moving in that chaotic condition. He directed the people in the building to evacuate. Without the slightest protest, people immediately followed him just like that.

"What about the security guard?" Magister Snoug again stopped the illustration. Ats scrunched his eyes, trying to find the right answer to the question.

"He evacuated the employees well" Ats replied later, "The employees were coordinating."

"Hm, that's right," Magister Snoug gave a small nod, but looked unsatisfied, "Then?"

"Em—" Ats looked puzzled, "Can that illustration be continued a little more?"

"Sure," Magister Snoug pressed a hologram button on the projector table. The sensors installed there immediately responded. In an instant, the illustration resumed.

After the earthquake subsided, the security guard again directed people to move to a safer place. He asked anyone who was healthy to help the sick and injured. To get outside the building, he immediately reported to the local authorities, while displaced people waited for him.

"Is this enough?" asked Magister Snoug while stopping the illustration again. He also pressed another button so that a signboard appeared above everyone who was displaced. Among those people, there were some high-ranking people such as line managers, certain team leaders, even the security chief who was the superior of the security guard pack. As soon as he looked carefully, then Ats understood.

"Oh, so the security guard here is the real leader among the many people who exist" said Ats spirit. He was like a kid who had just solved a very difficult math problem. Glad it wasn't playing. "He has no office or high authority. However, he had the ability to nurture well."

"Hm, that is," Magister Snoug again smiled knotfully, then added. "This satpam is a leader, but not a real manager. See how he acts with his instincts, without any planning. But people believe and follow."

"Okay, we continue."

Illustration is back on the move. Now, he showed a middle-aged man on top of his head with the inscription "Master of the City". The man was listening to the report from the amtakah. He had small beards and gave them an emergency order. Quickly, the Amtenar also worked.

Not finished there, the mayor came out with his aide to find the city that was ravaged. He also went to the refugee camp. There, he coordinated with the local people. After getting enough information, he climbed to a high place. From that place, he encouraged his citizens and pleaded for their cooperation. However, this disaster must be faced together so that all problems can be resolved quickly.

"What do you think? Isn't that clear enough?" ask Magister Snoug. He let the illustration go this time.

"The mayor," without a second thought, Ats could immediately reply, "Is a true leader and manager."
