Chapter 13 - Introgating the Emir

"Did Mr Emir know Abraham Syahbana, the man who died of poisoning five years ago at the restaurant where your daughter worked?" ask Biom.

"I don't know him" the Emir replied firmly.

"Did Mr Emir know Miss Cindy?" ask Biom again.

The Emir looked surprised at the question of his assistant Harsya.

"Sir, do you hear me?"

"I don't know him" replied the Emir.

"Dad you sure you didn't know that woman?" ask Anaya.

"No, Son." The Emir said as gently as possible.

"Before the incident, Dad was talking

with the woman, the head chef and the restaurant saw it" Anaya said.

"Maybe they are wrong people" said the Emir.

Harsya only heard and saw the debate between the parents and her child.

"There's no way they're lying, Dad!" Anaya was so sure.

"Anaya, why don't you trust your own father?" Bentak Nuni's.

"I just want to know if you know the woman and what is the relationship between the two of them" said Anaya.

"Your father was not involved in this matter and you were the one at the time of the incident!" Nuni pointed at Anaya's face with her index finger with an angry look.

"I believe Dad couldn't have done it, Mom. I was just curious about my relationship with Miss Cindy" Anaya said.

"Anaya, Father does not know him," the Emir said softly.

"Enough!" Harsya stopped the debate between the three.

Anaya and her parents were silent.

The seven of them sat together in the living room.

"Do you know Mr Emir?" ask Biom to the two men.

The head chef also confirmed the answer of his former superior.

"Before that incident, did you see Mr Emir chatting with a woman?" ask Biom again.

"Yes" answered the two in unison.

Harsya, Anaya and Biom turned towards the Emir.

"They're lying!" emir lantang.

"We didn't lie, there were still some people who saw them chatting" the head chef said.

"You want to slander me, huh?" accuse the Emir of both his guests.

"No, Sir. Why we are defamatory, we explain what we see" said the head of the restaurant.

"I don't know the woman at all" the Emir denied.

"I'm getting suspicious, if you're involved," Harsya stared intently at her in-laws.

Biom sent the head chef and the head of the restaurant home and the two were escorted back by Harsya's men.

Nuni stood up from the chair and pointed at Anaya's face and snapped at her, "Hey, damn child!"
