Cambodian Ward

Cambodian Ward
Chapter 10 ~ Calling Ningrum

Andra honked before the bike pulled away. We left the hospital, he had the bike and I. Seeing me who was still in a frightened look, Andra drove right to the front of the house.

I haven't said hello, the door is open. My mother welcomed my arrival.

“Soluble once Mel?”

“Iya Ma'am,” suhutku. Do not want to tell the incident in the hospital, because it will add to the worries.

Dad's long gone, I live with my mom and sister. The late father had the ability to see the invisible and also came down on me.

“Abang is home Bu?”

“Have, not long ago. Already tdur time, look tired.”

Doni-my brother-worked in a contractor service company as a field staff. Rather worried about his work, being in the middle of development activities is certainly at risk with heavy equipment.

After cleaning myself and changing my pajamas, I headed to Mom's room. The incident still left me with fear, so I had no intention of sleeping alone. I don't talk much, because I understand my condition. Maybe you could have guessed that I just saw something unusual.

There was an incoming message from Andra, I was sleepy and just replied with the word “Iya”. After that the phone returned to vibrate, it seemed like a message from Andra again. But I was no longer able to open my eyes.

...***...

Today I'm on a night shift and last night I didn't sleep well. I took breakfast and there was Bang Doni at the dinner table. Unlike usual, Bang Doni looked gloomy. Maybe break up in love or get married.

“Bang, now task where?”

“Rose path not far from Soimah Tower.”

“Lah, close to my hospital dong.”

“Yes, the building I worked on said it still has a hospital where you. Want to make Sky tower, executive service.”

I continued to eat while I continued my breakfast. Bang Doni was moving and saying goodbye to Mom. Remembering that there was something I wanted to ask, I also caught up with Bang Doni outside. Bang Doni's motor has passed the fence, I finally went back inside.

“Emang there are neighbors whose work is in line with Bang Doni?” ask me Mom.

“Neighbor?”

I'm nodding.

“It seems that there is no.”

“But bang Doni boncengin chick. I think the neighbors are coming along.”

“Try later tonight, Mom tanya.”

Waiting for the night, I spent it lazing. Even though last night's events are still imagined and the fear is felt when remembering it. However, I remain grateful that I am still protected from the accident that I almost experienced. The Cambodian ward is increasingly giving question marks with its secrets.

At eight o'clock I left the house and Bang Doni was not seen coming home. Andra stopped by to pick us up and we left on our own bikes.

It turned out that this afternoon Andra was called to testify about the fall of the elevator, lucky only Andra was called while I was not.

Andra clucked at my words.

“Positive thinking ajalah, do not think and do not be a burden.”

“You are delicious, there is no fear.”

“Not afraid, but I try to be as calm as possible. Like last night where maybe I wasn't scared.”

We deliberately used the elevator together with people who were going upstairs, still somewhat traumatized by the incident last night. There are still thirty minutes left for the night shift and the ward conditions are a bit crowded. There was a visit from the hospital owner.

It's actually strange, because visits are held at night, not in normal business hours. Me and Andra who was already in the ward even had absent finger staring at middle-aged men who were looking at the condition of the ICU, accompanied by several senior doctors and doctors guard in the Cambodian ward. It was expected that the man was the owner of the hospital.

I have never met let alone know the man who owns the hospital who is currently wearing a black shirt and subordinate. Listening to the explanation of one of his entourage, the man stared around and his gaze stopped staring at me. I can see that he scrunched his forehead.

“Mel,” call Andra resuscitate my daydreams and disconnect that view.

“He why visit night-night?”I was a little whispering.

“No idea, just this time I saw him visit.”

We only nodded as the group left the ward and the man looked back at me.

“Lo know?” ask Andra

I shook my head.

“Lo trust tumbal?”andra asked softly for not wanting our conversation to be heard by the others.

“Neither understand, there really is such a thing.”

“Entahlah, but I heard that this hospital uses a tumble so crowded and rapid development. Last night's incident made me feel confident and somewhat connected with the issue of the impact of this hospital.”

“Masa anyway? So we're almost a victim of a collision, you mean?"

Andra just put her shoulder out.

“Only god knows and time can prove. So strengthen your guts, because tonight will be tense,” said Andra while patting my shoulder.

“Don't kidutin deh because I'm scared.”

Finally handing over the shift and then we all started to move. As usual, I was in charge with beds seven through nine and only beds seven and eight were filled. Still with Ningrum and Lydia who were still comfortable with her unconsciousness.

From noon I had intended to do this to Ningrum, because yesterday the figure of Ningrum had conveyed when there was a ghost who took the spirit of one of the patients. I don't think Ningrum has any evil intentions.

“Mbak Ningrum, I don't know you heard or not,” I said softly while making sure medical devices and Ningrum's condition are in good condition. “If you hear, do you know anything?” tanyaku. “Please show up and tell me what you know?”
