Cambodian Ward

Cambodian Ward
Chapter 13 ~ May I be a victim?

I'm currently in the outpatient lobby. This night is of course quiet and the lights in some areas have been extinguished. In my heart I regret Andra's request to wait in the outpatient lobby. For whatever reason we had to meet here, but going straight to the thirteenth floor also did not dare.

“Mbak.”

The sound made me shudder so much. I was reluctant to look, because I might not be the one being called. However, realizing the lobby waiting area was very quiet there were only a few people passing by and it was rare, of course what was meant was me.

“Don't turn, just ignore,” my mumbling still with the phone in hand even though the mind is not focused, it feels like you want to run immediately or Andra comes soon.

“Mbak.”

That voice again, I decided to leave without turning my head but my body felt heavy. Heavy to move. In this condition, I suddenly had amnesia. The prayers and holy verses I used to chant seemed to disappear from my brain.

“Yes God, help me. Andra, where are you,” I said softly.

“Mbak, yesterday call me.”

Deg.

Who do I call, why would a ghost say that.

“I came mbak, my time is not much.”

Curious and fear whack, but I strive to be strong and courageous. It could have something to do with the Cambodian ward.

“Astagfirullah,” I said as I turned my head.

There was a figure of Ningrum behind me. Rushing I turned my body to look at him even though there were still goosebumps all over the body.

“Ningrum, you're right Ningrum.”

The figure nodded.

“Ningrum, what will happen in the cambodian ward. You know something?”

Ningrum's spirit was seen staring around.

“Do not get in the way if you can't stop, it's good to go if you can't.”

“Hah, that means?” I asked after hearing Ningrum's vague speech.

“Mbak, help me. I'm stuck, help me.”

I stepped back looking at the figure behind Ningrum. A figure who once dragged the spirit of a deceased patient. Ningrum was frightened, but the figure could not reach Ningrum.

“Amel.”

I looked, and Andra was approaching. As I looked forward, Ningrum and the figure chasing after him were already nowhere to be seen.

“Andra, danger. It's a danger, I think I know what happened in the Cambodian ward,” I said as I pulled Andra's hand to follow me.

“Where to go?”

“We talk outside, not here.”

“Mel, half an hour away from our shift schedule. Are you sure you want to come out?”

“ya geez,” said I realize this time almost ten o'clock at night.

...***...

Ningrum's previous appearance was only alone, but there was a ghost figure who claimed life or maybe the soul taker who became the victim of the hospital owner's emergency.

“What because Ningrum almost died, so the ghost was chasing after Ningrum?” I muttered softly recalling Ningrum being chased by another invisible being.

“Mel, follow me to the sixth floor,” take Sister Dian.

“What do you want?” I asked, because we don't usually have to visit other areas. On the ward, extra attention is needed.

“Pick up.”

I just obeyed and followed Sister Dian out of the ward. It was exactly two o'clock when I saw the clock on the phone screen. There was only me and Sister Dian in the elevator, the woman was standing right in front of the elevator door while I was leaning.

“Mel, you feel at home working here?”

“Ya at home Mbak.”

“Have a strange look at this hospital?”

Why did Sister Dian ask me that and what strange things did she mean. I felt something strange about Sister Dian.

“Any how Ma'am? Lots of weird cases in the hospital, but I'm used to it.”

“Not a disease problem, but an occult affair. You'd better be careful, because the pretentious and what you see is even troublesome and endangering you."

“I don't understand Mbak.”

Sister Dian did not speak anymore, as we had already arrived on the sixth floor. There are patients already two days of post-operative observation and there are no signs of being aware, will eventually be moved to the Cambodian ward. Amel pushed the patient's bed where there were several tools to support the patient's life. Sister Dian was pushing in from the side.

When she got out of the elevator and was about to enter the Cambodian ward, Sister Dian held back the bed and turned her head towards me.

“Do not interfere if you see something. Sometimes people who know a lot will die quickly.”

“What do you mean, Ma'am? Who will die?”

Dian opened the door of the ward, our shift colleague helped push the bed and positioned it in the next partition right next to Ningrum. But the patient was not my responsibility, so I focused again on my patients.

The atmosphere of the lonely ward only sounded medical instruments as simple as the rhythm of music. At dawn we took a break. The sound of an unusual medical device, I rushed towards the sound.

It turns out that the patient from the sixth floor and the surprising thing is that Dian just silently looked at the patient with a body shaking like experiencing death saccharatul. Again I saw a figure that gripped the patient's neck so as not to breathe.

“Mbak, why ...”

“Shut!”

“But Mbak.”

“Amel remember, many know will only make you die quickly.”

I'm confused how to deal with this ghost. Can see ‘they’ but do not know drive away or eliminate it. Closing my eyes and saying the holy verse that Dad taught me if I was afraid of the appearance of supernatural beings then I shouted loudly.

It turned out to work, the creature screamed and disappeared.

“Alhamdulillah,” I said then docked to bed because the patient's heartbeat was getting weaker. The guard doctor is present, we are providing rescue procedures. I'm grateful that the patient's condition has finally returned to normal. Sister Dian stared dislikefully at me, then followed the Guard Doctor.

I can draw the conclusion that Sister Dian was involved in the hospital emergency. The woman's threat that I could die quickly because I know a lot, is quite a burden to the mind. Is it possible that I will be used as a victim also because the secrets of the Cambodian ward are starting to unfold?
