118. Stabilize the Heart
After the departure of ustadz Hamzah, leaving Denis who still sits faithfully in his original place.
Re-examine in his heart the deepest about the purpose of his life so far, especially re-examining what his purpose is to come to this place.
Amid the endless daydreams, there was the sound of the Ashar Adhan that was so melodious and soothing to his heart, so was what Denis felt at this time.
Looking from a distance not so close, but not so far, from where he sat, Denis observed the santri-santri who flocked to the mosque to perform Ashar prayers.
Some go directly into the mosque, but there are also those who still stop by the place of padasan (where wudhu) to take ablution water before praying.
Activities that were still unfamiliar to Denis, and felt new in his eyes, made Denis carve a sweet smile there.
Attractions attract clothes and scenes of mutual encouragement by the santri putra, when he saw the santri princess who also flocked to come with her face down to enter the mosque and perform congregational prayers.
Denis also carved a smile from a considerable distance with the activities of the Santri and the teaching of the boarding school.
Not infrequently the distant smile was able to anesthetize akhwat who was passing to the mosque, because Denis looks different from most Brotherhood students in the pesantren.
Although the age is much more mature than most santri there, but the charm of Denis able to sedate the women who look at him.
Actually, between the princess cottage and the son's cottage, are in a separate environment and location as well as classes where teaching and learning, and the dormitory is separate, and the dormitory is separate, but at the time of obligatory prayer activities are carried out together in congregation at the mosque.
Some time observing, finally the horde of santri Ikhwan and akhwat came out of the mosque. Indicates the congregational prayer activities have been completed.
Seeing that Denis moved from his seat, even though only for a walk in the boarding area, besides that also because Denis who had been bored to see the view of tilapia in front of him.
Denis was a little interested in the activities that afternoon, walking down a hallway class where Santri putra was studying there.
A young ustad, but impressed by Mahira and qualified, stood before the santri to give lessons and teachings.
Salman al-Farisi rh (Died at Madain in 36 H) said, “That's a lot while the age is short (limited), then take the knowledge you need in your religious affairs.” (Shifatush, 1/546)
عَنْ جُنْدُبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِىِّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- وَنَحْنُ فِتْيَانٌ حَزَاوِرَةٌ فَتَعَلَّمْنَا الإِيمَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ نَتَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ تَعَلَّمْنَا الْقُرْآنَ فَازْدَدْنَا بِهِ إِيمَانًا
From Jundub bin ‘Abdillah, he said, we were with the Prophet. We study the faith before studying the Quran. Then after that we studied the Qur’an until we increased our faith in the Qur’an. (CHR. Ibn Majah, no. 61. Al-Hafizh Abu Thahir said that this sanad hadith is shahih).
A sentence that touched Denis heart at that time, peeking out from behind a glass window, and listening to every lesson conveyed by the ustadz.
Shaykh Muhammad bin Shalih Al-‘Utsaimin rahimullah explained that the path taken to study there are two kinds, namely a concrete path (hissiyyah) and an abstract path (ma’nawiyyah).
What is meant by a concrete road is the path taken by someone to the assembly of knowledge, either to the mosque or other places. Whereas what is meant by an abstract path is a person walking with his mind to think or contemplate the Book of Allah and the sunnah of the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Both by studying the Qur’an and the hadiths of the Prophet directly by studying the science of interpretation and studying the sharah (explanation) of hadith, or study the Qur’an and the hadiths of the Prophet separately by studying the books of fiqh, aqidah, tawhid, and so on. Or someone to study and study the books of the scholars, because the scholars have devoted great effort to spread the Book of Allah and the sunnah of the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam with the right understanding.
The great reward of the learned can also be seen from the reward they receive when they can guide others with the knowledge they possess. And one cannot guide the truth to another except by knowledge. The Prophet of Allah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said to Ali ibn Abi Thalib radhiyallahu ‘anhu,
فَوَاللَّهِ لأَنْ يَهْدِىَ اللَّهُ بِكَ رَجُلاً خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَكَ حُمْرُ النَّعَمِ
“That is: By Allah, if Allah guides only one person through your intercession, it is better for you than the red camel (i.e., the nicest and most expensive camel,).” (CHR. Bukhari no. 3009, 3701, 4210 and Muslim no. 6376).
Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam,
وَمَنْ يُرِدْ اللَّه بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّههُ فِي الدِّين
“That is: Whoever Allah wills for good, Allah will understand him in his religious affairs.” (CHR. Bukhari 71 and Muslim no. 2436).
"Son Denis !"
Replied with a friendly smile by ustadz Hamzah.
"Sorry sir, it's not max to eavesdrop, I'm just-" Denis said
"No problem, I'm happy, if you want to go in just to be clearer" said Ustadz Hamzah politely
"Ah no sir, I am ashamed "Answer Denis by scratching his nape that does not itch.
And Ustadz Hamzah just smiled kindly at Denis.

"Good sir !" Denis said politely with a nod of the head
Then the two passed from the front of the class, walking somewhere.
"Son Denis !" uchad Ustadz Hamzah
"Yes sir" Denis replied
"Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda,"
وَإِنَّ فَضْلَ الْعَالِمِ عَلَى الْعَابِدِ كَفَضْلِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ عَلَى سَائِرِ الْكَوَاكِبِ وَإِنَّ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَرَثَةُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ وَإِنَّ الأَنْبِيَاءَ لَمْ يُوَرِّثُوا دِينَارًا وَلاَ دِرْهَمًا وَرَّثُوا الْعِلْمَ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ أَخَذَ بِحَظٍّ وَافِرٍ
“The virtues of the learned above the worshipers are like the virtues of the full moon over all the stars. Verily, the heirs of the prophets. The Prophets did not inherit dirhams and dinars, but they inherited knowledge. So whoever takes it, he has indeed taken a great fortune”. (CHR. Abu Dawud's. Valued shahih by Sheikh Albani in Shahih wa Dha’if Sunan Abu Dawud no. 3641).
Denis seemed to nod his head to hear the narration of Ustadz Hamzah.
"Sorry sir" Denis said softly with a bowed face
"For ?" answer ustadz Hamzah
"Honestly my initial goal to come here was to get the heart of a Muslim woman who I love very much sir" said Denis lirih.
No surprise, or surprise, or even blame Denis, Ustadz Hamzah smiled happily at Denis.
His open attitude is what makes ustadz Hamzah feel happy.
"But now I am determined to learn about Islam, not for any other purpose, but because of my deepest heart" Denis later said.
"MashaAllah, Alhamdulillah" said Ustadz Hamzah with a smile on his face
Afterward Ustadz Hamzah pulled Denis' burly body for him to hug tightly, so did Denis get good treatment and welcome from ustadz Hamzah made him feel happy, and after that returned the embrace of ustadz Hamzah tightly.
