ﺍﻟْﺤَﻤْﺪُ ﻟِﻠَّﻪِ ﺃُﻡُّ ﺍﻟْﻘُﺮْﺁﻥِ ﻭَﺃُﻡُّ ﺍﻟْﻜِﺘَﺎﺏِ ﻭَﺍﻟﺴَّﺒْﻊُ ﺍﻟْﻤَﺜَﺎﻧِﻲ
Meaning: “Surat alhamdulillah (i.e., Al Fatihah) is ummul quran, ummul kitab and as sab’ul matsani.” (HRTirmidhi)
The primacy of the letter Al-Fatihah to cure the disease is also called as-Syifa which means medicine. In the book ‘Fadhoil Suwar wa Ayat Qur’aniyah’ by Sayyid Muhammad Saad ibn Alawi al-Idrusi, it is explained that Abdul Malik Umair's mother said:
ﺍﻟﻜﺘﺎﺏ ﺷﻔﺎﺀ ﻣﻦ ﻛﻞ ﺩﺍﺀﻓﺎﺗﺤﺔ
It means: "The Quran is the medicine of all things, the Surah is the Surah of al-Fatihah."
Allah SWT has asserted that the Quran is a cure for various diseases.
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٞ وَرَحۡمَةٞ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارٗا
"And We have sent down from the Qur'an a remedy (medicine) and a mercy for those who believe and the Qur'an does not add to those who are unjust except harm." (QS Al Isra’: 82).
Maryam who does not sleep anymore after performing the Tahajud prayer, busied herself by reading the Qur'an until the arrival of dawn.
