His name was Samuel. He said it was more convenient to be called Sam. His college was stalled because of one thing so had to take time off. That's all the information I can get. While I'm a fool, I talk a lot. Sam is the kind of person who is good at fishing for chat. Anyone would be comfortable talking to him. I am not a person who can adapt quickly to new friends. Especially men.
"You wanna go bowling?"
" But I can't"
"Come on, there's me. Do you want your vacation to end up boring just like that"
It's because there's you Sam. I'm sure I'll screw things up.
I laugh. I think I told him too much. Including stories of refusing calls for vacation friends and choosing to stay at home.
"All right, but what about my groceries ?"
"Just calm. We stopped by my friend's nursery"
"Much ?"
"Just a few blocks from here"
I nodded in agreement. He looks happy. I had forgotten what danger might be in front of me. I believe in Sam in the meantime. He is too handsome to be a joker.
We got out of the mall, walked to the bowling alley. Sam offers to ride his friend's motorcycle while he is in the care. I-i refused. Let's just say I can look at her and spend more time with her.
Up at the bowling alley. I observed the room. Not too crowded like my shadow. There are only two groups of teenagers with their peers. I'm waiting for Sam. He's taking care of the cashier payment. It seems that the man seemed familiar with the female employee there even though he claimed to have been here for the first time.
I pretended to see a visitor who was playing, but my tail was not separated from Sam and the woman in front of him. Is he always like this ? Can he get along so quickly with others ? Did he tease her ? Huh ! There hasn't been half a day with Sam, how can my heart be this hot.
"Sorry to keep you waiting"
"No. just relax"
"You want to bowling in coats and boots ?"
Sam laughed a little.
Oh shit I forgot. I was in a hurry to take it off. Because the groggy on the legan part is a bit stuck, so I see my own hassles. It's my fault I borrowed Lily's coat that was a little pres from my body. Lily is tiny. Suddenly Sam helped.
From behind he grabbed my coat. My heart ripples. I move forward, a little distance. It didn't take long for the coat to be passed easily. Idiotically. Idiotically. Idiotically. I'm so ashamed. He must have thought my weight rose so quickly that buying a new coat that fits the size alone did not have time.
"Waw..a lot of people today. Haha"
I said try to cover up the groggy taste.
"Not really. Usually this kind of place is full on holidays"
I'm choked. Damnit. I noticed he picked up the ball after changing his shoes. The handsome man took the perfect attitude. Run slowly, then launch the ball beautifully. Like a professional athlete, STRIKE !
The rumblings of the area, as if a faint inaudible. All my thoughts were focused on Sam. Some teenage girls who were playing there, came to see it while amazed. I glared at those who when they turned to see me like I didn't like it.
"You want to try ?"
Sam asked surprised
"Huh?. me.. ?"
Sam nodded. All right I'll try. After all just throwing a ball is hard. With confidence I took one of the balls there. Eeggh. How can people easily throw a ball this heavy like there is no burden.
"Oh no. Hehe"
Scroll that bunch of kids. They look great too. So I think I can too. Hmm. breathe in. Just a little jump and .. aargh. Do not slide perfectly. My ball rolls irregularly. Neither did they hit the target.
All right, I'll try again. Again. And again. Wait, one more time. It's the same as not working. My breath gasping. The sweat soaked my forehead even when the air was this cold I could sweat. I tried many times, failed many times. Why is it so hard. Did Sam see this. Sure oes. Approving bowling is like driving me to suicide here. Aaargh how is this.
When I wanted to throw for the umpteenth time, someone held the ball in my hand. Someone who stands right behind me again. Her chest that field as if it would grab me. The perfume from his body was so masculine. My heart is beating fast. My chest rumbles. Like a loud orchestra with great rhythm. So close, maybe he could hear my irregular breathing. I'm sculpting.
"First you need to focus. The piece ahead is not the main goal. You just need to treat this ball like a friend"
I can't hear the instructions from Sam. His words broke in the head. Don't know how, but the center of my world seemed to stop when it was close to him.
I was about to get away. Because of my grogginess, my shoelaces were accidentally stepped on. Though before with confidence has been stringent. Balance wavers. I walk staggered. My eyes are closed already resigned if it falls shamefully here. It's okay, at least my head just hit the floor a little bit and a little amnesia. At least it would help to forget my stupidity for being too careless.
Suddenly, Sam quickly held my body. I could feel his strong hand supporting my shoulder. That man's face was only a few inches from mine. Our eyes meet again. He smiles.
"Be careful..."
Not answering I just looked away. I hope he doesn't see my face red.
"Ah I forgot the time. Looks like it's starting the afternoon for sure your friends are worried"
Only this can come out of my mouth trying to break that awkward feeling. Sam saw the clock in his hand. This opportunity I used to take a moment off of him
"All right, I'll drive you"
"No. Don'tdon't. Not necessary. I'll stop by first to pick up clothes from the laundry"
"Then be well. But let me order you a cab"
I almost refused. But this is not a bad idea either. After all, with this much shopping will certainly be hassles.
Sam drove me to the front. There was actually a sense of disappointment in parting here with him. Especially after the excitement earlier, more precisely after the ridiculous and embarrassing things I experienced. Snow slowly. In silence we drift with each other's thoughts. Who would have thought a boring looking vacation could turn out to be an unexpected surprise. My acquaintance with Sam was no coincidence. Maybe it's destiny for me. A sweet jackpot closing day.
"It seems you don't remember"
Sam opened the conversation.
"About ?"
I'm turning.
"This is not the first time we've met"
He stared at the streets. His blue eyes traverse the gray roofs of the building across.
Not until my memory digests, the taxi we were waiting for appears and stops right in front. Sam helped me raise my grocery bag in the backseat.
"Get it"
I'm nodding. I wave my hand at him. He retaliated. The taxi took me away from the street. Inside, I thought fast. Have we really met before ? But where.
With a kuke-tuk-tuk fingers in the car mirror. Dew thickens due to the impact of the cold from outside. The glass shuffles stared at the city that was rising at night. Passing through Oak Park I was surprised to realize something. Is it that guy. Did Sam help Hana and Hara at the store yesterday. Could it be him. Is correct. It's not wrong anymore. That man is Sam.
