Chapter 16 ~ Pounced

He had no relationship with this girl, there was no way he could strip people of their clothes at will. But if it continues to be left then it can make the girl sick later.

Among the worries that struck, Edric circulated his gaze. His eyes immediately fell on a cardigan lying on a rock. It can be ascertained that before falling asleep Alice still had time to dry the cardigan.

Edric quickly grabbed it, although it was not too dry yet but this was better than the clothes the girl was wearing right now. He placed the flashlight and cardigan next to Alice, closed his eyes and began to feel down to remove the girl's top.

And Edric, instead of letting go he looked dazed, looked once though he was old he had absolutely no experience in this field.

Finally he turned off the flashlight and tried to remove the hoodie Alice was wearing. Upon release he took the cardigan, and closed Alice's body. He just turned the flashlight back on.

He could finally breathe again. He took a deep breath and let it out repeatedly. Then looked around and found some wooden twigs and dried leaves scattered. Out of nowhere it came from, it seemed like there were people visiting this cave before.

Edric then collect it into one and make a small bonfire using stone. (note: from a small othor curious same for fire from stone, and have tried repeatedly but never managed😭. Is there the same?)

For now he could only survive, he could not possibly bring Alice back with this kind of weather. Moreover, their position was too deep into the middle of the forest. It was not impossible if there would be wild beasts lurking around.

He sat down next to Alice, closing his body so he could share the warmth.

Next day.

"Bos, wait!" peek at Malvin when Aldric wants to go back to the forest early in the morning.

Alice widened her eyes and shouted. "Akkhhc ... Misterkk!" his screams made Edric immediately jumped in shock.

"What's wrong?"

"What did you do?" alice asked for her cardigans, then turned the other way in annoyance when she realized the man was bare-chested.

"You can see for yourself what I've done." Instead of explaining, Edric teased her as if what the girl thought was real.

Alice took a rough breath, she was still wearing a tank top and did not feel anything strange with her body. So this guy must have just taken off his hoodie.

While still daydreaming, suddenly something had floated up to his face. "FATHER.." the screech was upset.

While Edric just pulled the corner of his lips, "Quick put on your clothes! The rain has subsided, we must return to the camp."

"Mr, face it!"

"For what? I saw your small size last night" said Edric, with an annoying face, causing Alice to round her eyes again.

If he knew Edric even had time to squeeze his little one then I don't know what the girl would do.

"Haha, okay. I'm waiting for you outside the cave. That's fast!" continued Edric while chuckling, making Alice who was previously upset and angry at him instantly felt strange to see the man could laugh.

After a few minutes, Alice came out of the cave and they immediately left from there. The journey will be quite long considering they are in the middle of the forest. The two were also silent during the trip, no one took the initiative to start the conversation.

While on the other hand, Aldric and his friends along with one of the builders named Nico and several local people including two animal handlers have started the search again.

Each of them shouted the names of Alice and Edric repeatedly. Yeah, from Nico they know that Edric hasn't come back from last night. And this adds even more to the anxiety of an Aldric.

Alice and Edric were getting tired, long walking but they seemed to be going around in circles. This is what Alice experienced last night, so she decided to give up and take shelter in the cave.

Having not eaten, being cold all night, looking ragged, really adds to their tired impression. Edric who saw the condition of Alice who was tired decided to take a break for a moment.

They sit under a big tree. Alice took out mineral water from her small backpack and gulped down a few. "Sir, want a drink?" bargain Alice while giving her bottle.

Suddenly from the side of Alice, there was the sound of something coming. Both of them felt alert, and turned their heads slowly simultaneously. A wolf was staring at the two humans in front of him.

Alice and Edric's reflexes rose and retreated a few steps. Edric immediately put his body in front of Alice. Though Alice was not afraid, she even knew this would happen. Because in the original story Olivia and Aldric are also confronted by wolves.

After some distance they can breathe a sigh of relief, but luck does not take sides. From the back suddenly a wolf jumped up and pounced. Edric who realized it immediately pushed Alice and he himself also dodged.

Wolves often hunt in groups, so escape from one can not be sure it is safe. Alice shouted in fear.

While Edric, though evasive but still wounded in the arm, he managed to escape from the wolf but the predator did not want to go and wanted to attack again. There was no other way, Edric took out a firearm that he always carried with him everywhere and pointed it at the wolf.
