Chapter 24: Did Something Happen to Brother Quan?
“My granddaughter gave it to me,” Old Master Chi replied with a smile.
Granddaughter?
Shen Yin looked at Chi Yan involuntarily.
“Not this grandson. My biological grandson.” Old Master Chi glanced at Chi Yan faintly, who was sitting there thinking of something.
Everyone in the Chi family liked Chi Yan, but he did not.
Not because Chi Yan had no blood relation to her, but because the hidden motive of this girl was more than just a hole in the lotus root.
Chi Yan's face turned pale when he heard Old Master Chi's words.
Zhu Limin glanced at Old Master Chi. It was obvious that he was very dissatisfied with what he had just said. However, he felt very sad because he could not say anything either.
Shen Yin knew that the Chi family had a Second Miss. When he thought of the young lady in the white dress he had seen before when he came, he knew that Old Master Chi was talking about it.
“Then, I will go look for Second Miss,” Shen Yin said hurriedly before running to look for Chi Jiao.
Chi Jiao looked around the banquet hall before finally finding Chi Mingwei, who was chatting with her friends.
When Chi Mingwei saw him walking towards her, she told her friends that she would return to continue their conversation, before walking towards Chi Jiao.
“Dad.” Chi Jiao walked towards him and smiled sweetly.
Chi Mingwei reached out to touch his head. “Are you not accompanying Grandpa? Why did you come looking for me?”
“I have a headache and want to go home early,” said Chi Jiao gently.
“Did you give your gift to grandpa?” Chi Mingwei asked.
Chi Jiao nodded.
“Please and answer the call first. I'm in no hurry,” Chi Jiao said with a smile.
Chi Mingwei pulled out her phone. When he saw that it was an unknown number, he frowned and picked it up.
“Halo, are you Quan Jue's parents?” The formal female voice came through the phone.
Chi Jiao was standing rather close to Chi Mingwei. When he heard the words “Quan Jue” coming from the other end of the phone, he sharpened his ears.
“Yes, it's me. May I know who this is?” Chi Mingwei glanced at Chi Jiao, who immediately turned her gaze elsewhere and pretended to be indifferent as she drew a circle on the floor with her toes.
“I am from the south district police station in White City. Like this, Quan Jue..”.
From there, Chi Jiao could no longer hear the person across the phone clearly, but she could see that her father's face had turned extremely ugly and her aura had become cold and solemn.
When Chi Mingwei hung up the phone, Chi Jiao asked worriedly, “Dad, did something happen to big brother Quan?”
“Quan Jue got into a fight with someone and that person was sent to the hospital. He was taken to the police station.” Chi Mingwei's face was as black as charcoal. He knew that the young man was a cruel character.
This was not the first time Quan Jue had beaten someone to the hospital.
“Jiaojiao, now do you know why Dad doesn't want you to get too close to Quan Jue? The child had evil and cruel intentions. You two are in a different world,” Chi Mingwei added.
“Dad, don't you plan to care about Brother Quan anymore?” Chi Jiao asked, automatically blocking his words.
Chi Mingwei narrowed her eyes. He felt that Chi Jiao was worrying too much about the child.
Could it be that the boy had cast a magic spell on her?
“Jiaojiao—” Chi Mingwei dragged her words out. “Did you hear what Dad just said?”
Chi Jiao blinked her female deer eyes and stared at him innocently. “Dad, brother Quan is our family too. Shouldn't we get him out of the police station first before we talk about anything else?”
