Chapter XII - P a t u n g - Second Round

The car I drove down the dark streets of Banjar Village, a tiring day. The silly jokes of friends, especially Ratmi just for a moment eliminate the feeling of boredom and fatigue. Well, Ratmi was my former private secretary, also a woman I loved and loved, but her marriage to Kevin dashed my hopes of taking her as a wife, especially at that time I was a destitute young man and arguably had no future/purpose. Our relationship is now just as an ordinary friend, he is still interesting even though he already has 3 children. I had dinner together and drove him home. For a moment I let myself remember the times we were together. But, suddenly the shadow of TRINIL's face appeared, breaking my daydream about Ratmi. Trinil is the name I gave to a female doll that has helped me become a respected and respected person as an eccentric and capable artist.

The next second I stepped on the car brakes abruptly, in front of a naked long black haired woman standing, while her pair of eyes stared intently at me. TRINYL.

I opened the car door and walked over while asking, "Hey, what are you doing in this place ?"

The woman did not answer, her tears showed dislike, I had never seen her behave like that, "What happened ?" ask me again while taking off my leather jacket and then put it on his body, "Wear this, the night wind is not good for your health,"

Suddenly Trinil's hands clutched my shirt and pulled me hard, until our noses almost collided.

For a long time we stood face to face, he looked at me deeply as if to pierce through the skin and flesh on my face, then he said coldly, "If I see you alone with a woman other than me. I'll kill her," then she dumps my shirt and walks away from me.

"Hey, come here .." I said as I pulled his arm and got into the car together. Trinil remained silent, I could see clearly from the radiance of her eyes, SHE WAS JEALOUS. I smiled, "Trinil, Ratmi and I are just friends, after all he is married, what people think of me later,"

Trinil remained voiceless, her pair of eyes glaring far away and I was more and more confused as to how to convince her, "Don't be like that, speak," I asked. I just closed my lips, HP said, Mom called, "Hallo .." I said.

On the other side, I heard my mother's sobs and my face changed when I heard her words. As fast as lightning I stepped on the accelerator and my car hurtled through the fog that began to fall and made the road darker and colder. I turned the car in the opposite direction to the house, we headed to Lik Dar's house.

_____

The courtyard of Lik Dar's house was already filled with people. My mom and my family were gathered there. They were all chanting the prayers of the dead. Well, Lik Dar died. The doctor could not determine what was the cause of his death. When I saw his body in the backyard, he looked like he was sleeping, there was a slight smile on his face. He looked calm and peaceful. I remembered how I took care of her, I remembered her messages while she was alive, which made my heart seem to be slashed open, without feeling my eyes wet with tears.

"There is no time to grieve, Den Bagus .." suddenly a voice came from my left side. Hurriedly I turned my head, a middle-aged man wearing white clothes stood looking at me, "Who are you ? How do you know my name, being, I don't know you ?"

The old man smiled, "Actually, I've known you since you moved in this Banjar Village. I am one of the elders of this village. So, everything that happened in this village I know all. If you keep the doll in your right pocket forever, it will fall victim to even more, including yourself,"

"The story is long. But, it is our family business, so, let us be the ones who will solve it ourselves without involving the people around us. Get the doll, let me just destroy it," explained the old man in an earnest tone.

"I won't give this doll to anyone, I will protect and protect her as she has guarded and protected me,"

"Den Good. Are you going to let the victims fall for the umpteenth time ? Where ... where's the doll, give it to me,"

"No ! Whoever you are and even if you have good intentions, after all, all who died because of their own mistakes. Besides, he wouldn't bother me and even if I gave him these dolls, he wouldn't be able to bring them back to life. You'd better leave this place, right away,"

"Hmm, so you already know, that the doll can sow havoc ? Then, I will destroy the doll in my own way," saying so the man raised his right hand and it was then that I felt the right pocket of my trousers burning and billowing thin, blackish-red smoke with a slow groan. I also felt the doll twitching about to be thrown out, hurriedly, I put my hand in my pocket, my intention to keep the doll in my pocket but, it happened so quickly, it was, I felt my hand holding the dust. The doll was already broken and somehow I also felt a part of me being destroyed.

I couldn't describe my feelings at the time. I just stared hard at the man. My right index finger pointed straight at his face and said, "Your appearance is just like a saint, but, your attitude is terrible. Trinil only kills people who during his life are covered in blood and sin Never touch or disturb others. Trinil is still better than you !! Later, you'll get the karma, Old Man !!!" after saying so I stepped out of the old man. He just shook his head while occasionally holding his breath, "You don't understand the Good Den," those were the last words I heard from him but, I don't care. I'm really angry and riled up but, who do I want to vent to ?

_____

The adult-high canvas was empty, a blank of my heart and soul. The right hand holding the brush shook violently, I bit my lips hard, I did not care how much it hurt when my teeth bit my lips. I don't care if blood seeps from the bite wound. I closed these eyes and recalled the times Trinil was still by my side. Unconsciously these hands moved, incising dark colors onto the surface of the blank canvas, occasionally these eyes glanced towards my bedroom window, that's where Trinil sat looking out my backyard and I wished he was there when I painted. But there is nothing but nothing. Had the night wind descended from the foot of the hill been able to remove this emptiness and voidness would have been better, but, it was a false hope.

Trinil is gone, she won't come back and I can only paint everything she has: Face, body, smile and the last moment she was angry with me. Beautiful memories are also bitter memories mixed into one pair with the colors on the surface of the canvas until finally I finished the painting. A painting of a beautiful woman standing among the shadow of lush trees, she smiled at me. I looked at the painting fixedly, after taking care of my painting tools.

My steps came to a halt before a long-dead teak tree, slowly my hands worked. I don't care about the day changing, no matter what pieces of wood and fibers are mixed with my hair, clothes, skin and body. I don't care if sweat and dust cover me, no matter the sky is light or dark, no matter thirst and hunger and the wounds on the fingers are widening and the blood soaks my carvings and chisels.

I stopped working when in front of me stood a statue of a beautiful woman. I smiled, "Trinil. Now no one can destroy you and I will always guard and protect you here, FOREVER" I sighed slowly. I faintly saw the statue move, she smiled sweetly at me as she said, "Thank you. Let's get out of here, baby ..." he clasped my hand tightly. I nodded my head, "GET IT DONE," I said.
