Ghost Story (The Story of the Angler)
The Story of the Angler (Panen)

"Are you all ready? A flashlight? Buoys, phosphorus starlet?" ask Juned.

"Everybody is just a balled bait" replied Udin.

"Ntar stopped by at the Corner market to buy worms with shrimp" Juned said.

"Go ahead and go." said Udin.

Armed with 2 bags containing fishing gear, 2 meters tarpaulin for the seat as well as two large flashlights, at 4 pm they also left to ride a motorcycle maticnya Juned. Today they plan to fish in a large river that also passes through their city, but the location is far upstream, precisely in the next district.

It was dry season, and the river water level was at its lowest, so they chose to fish at night, the target this time was catfish, cork and cork males aka betutu, while the fishing technique used is to wear a bobber aka buoy with added phosphorus starlet that can light green in the dark.

An hour's drive, they arrived at the market mentioned by Juned earlier, a semi-modern traditional market in a fairly remote village. Worm bait is obtained from bird feed stores, and shrimp are obtained from fish traders.

After getting everything needed, they continued gas again, still about a quarter of an hour drive more that must be taken to arrive at the location. The river in question is quite far from the district's city center.

Passing a large bridge that passed over the river they were about to catch, they turned out of the big road and began to enter the village road. Until they reached the last village and passed the last house, they arrived at a long row of thick bamboo clumps.

At a small crossroad, they turn into a downhill dirt road, this dirt road is the only access to get to the river bank. On the right left of the 2-meter-wide road was also overgrown with thick bamboo groves, although it was still afternoon, but the road was already dimly lit.

"Newly enter the location has really serem gini way, trus how the atmosphere on the edge of the river yes.." murmured Udin.

"Lu Belom ever been to this spot?" ask Juned.

"Yes, I don't know it from you either.."

"Even the gini serem spot that I was looking for, the more serem place, the less fishing here, the fish is still a lot." said Juned.

"In fact, it's just a theory of your conscience." replied Udin.

"Lu see for yourself ntar.anyways I also have a lot of fish here.."

The matic motor continued to walk slowly towards the edge of the river. The closer to the river, the more dense the bamboo grove there, it is like a kind of bamboo forest only, and of course the atmosphere becomes more dimly dark. But when he got to the edge of the river cliff, the bamboo grove disappeared, changing with a two-meter tall elephant grass.

After parking the motor under the bamboo grove, they started carrying all the equipment to descend the river. Juned put out a kind of short cleaver, just two long. And with the machete, Juned began slashing through the elephant grass to open the way.

The river cliffs are not too steep, and only 10 meters from their motorbike is parked up to the river's waterfront. Here the ground is more open as wide as two meters from the edge of the water, elephant grass grows very rarely, so they only stay a little cleaning.

After checking several spots, they finally chose one spot under a very large trembesi tree, because the water base there is the deepest than the others. They began to roll out tarps and prepare all fishing gear.

Fishing technique this time is to use a bobber or buoy, with 4 rods aka sturdy fishing rods complete with reel or hoist with strings and also a large hook eye, which is also a, because indeed what is targeted is a large fish, the worms used are also large. A quarter of an hour later, four floats were floating upright on the surface of the water.

The afternoon darkened rapidly, as if in an instant nature had turned pitch-black. But not a single fish was caught in the hook. Then a light illuminated the other side of the river right in front of them.

"It's like the fish don't want to eat" Udin said.

"Patience, it's also at this hour. Usually here the fish eat around seven." Juned replied.

"Since when have you been a fish handler?" tejek Udin's.

 "It's just not knowing."

"Eh, how come there's a mercury lamp by the river?" udin asked suddenly, pointing across the river in front of them.

"That's the village street lighting" Juned replied.

"Is there a way down the river there?" ask Udin.

"There is a village on the other side, near the river, the road is only a few meters from the river" replied Juned.

Udin tried to sharpen the view across the river, then among the dense bamboo trees, faint lights from the houses. So it turned out to be true, behind a row of bamboo groves across it was a village road. And just where the mercury lamp was, not a single bamboo grew, so the mercury light also illuminated the other side of the river and was still visible from where they were fishing

Four pieces of green light appear to glow and float on the surface of the water, the four light comes from four phosphors installed at the end of the buoy, in this way, even in total darkness though, they can still see the buoys drowning if any fish are snatching their bait.

Sayup-sayup from across the sound of Adzan isya, but still no fish bite bait. The buzzing sounds of mosquitoes began to ferment around them. Several times there were claps on their own arms and faces to repel the mosquitoes.

"The ant! The mosquito is like a jet! Very late passing right in the ear!" grouse Juned.

"This is a mosquito as big as anything, the bite can hurt very gini.." continued Udin.

"Donor blood is ours." said Juned.

Finally, they are very forced to give up being a donor for mosquitoes. But Juned couldn't stand it either, so he gathered the dry twigs from around and started to make a small campfire, just to repel the mosquitoes.

Suddenly, his passenger phosphor Juned seemed to be twitching. Without a doubt Juned just hit the joran. But it turns out only a wader fish as big as a finger stuck in the hook. Udin's laughter instantly exploded, while Juned was astonished at the fluttering little fish at the end of the strings.

"How come, the fish is only this way how can it get stuck in a hook that is this big size, huh?"

 "Not deliberately stuck" replied Udin.

After being illuminated by a flashlight, then they know if the fish stuck in the gills, and not in his mouth, then Udin's laughter exploded again.

 "It's so bad" Juned said.

"At least you have two lures now, same worm wader." replied Udin.

"Oh yeah, try to make a bait."

So the wader fish was put on the end of the hook Juned eyes as bait and thrown back into the water. Five minutes of waiting, and the buoy sank quickly, a sign of a fish snatching. Once again Juned pulled his fishing rod as fast as lightning, and the hook was like it was stuck on something big.

"Wahh, this big fish!" with a spirit Juned instantly rolled up his hoist reel.

"Ati-ati, don't break up." said Udin.

"It is impossible to break up, fearing that even the mouth of the fish is torn" replied Juned.

A few moments rolling the strings, Juned began to feel there was an oddity, no resistance at all from the fish, as if just silently following the pull of the strings, even though it still felt very heavy. Juned quickly rolled up the strings, then there appeared a long object as big as an arm that began to squirm at the end of the strings.

 "Bangk* si*lan! It's snakerr…!!" shouted Juned.

Without a doubt he took his machete and immediately chopped off the strings. Yes, the long object wriggling at the end of the strings was a snake as big as an arm that immediately plunged back into the river water.

"What a shit! That was wader, now snake! How do snakes get to eat bait?!" juned said in between his swearing.

"That's a water snake, you used fish bait, obviously the snake was doyan.."

"Udah was twice a strange occurrence." Juned said.

"Why did you cut that off? The hook is still left in the snake's mouth, it can die him." said Udin.

"Trus you mean, I have to hold a snake to take off that hook?! How disgusting! Bite even koit ntar.." exclaimed Juned.

"Which freshwater bars are there venomous?" sahut Udin's.

Udin just laughed again. What a strange occurrence for anglers, until they can get a snake like that. But after the incident, they continued fishing, without them realizing that the mercury lamp across the river was getting dimmer, until finally the light disappeared completely. But then Udin came to his senses too.

"That's the mercury light off or what?"

"Maybe close the tree" Juned replied. "But it's good for dark gini."

"There were no trees there." said Udin.

Curiously Udin noticed the mercury lamp across from it, but not even the lamp post, as if there was a large black shadow covering it. Suddenly, just where the lamp was, Udin saw a large shadow swaying to the left, and the lamp was visible again, still brightly lit.

Udin thought that the shadow was a tree. But it turns out the shadow was moving again to the right, the mercury lamp was closed again until the light disappeared again. In astonishment, Udin widened his gaze, and there appeared a pitch-black silhouette of a very large human form, and then began to appear a pair of basketball-sized eyes that lit bright red like a flashlight! Udin's throat was immediately blocked.

"Ned.. it-it... that's.. w-what is that?" Udin pointed towards the mercury.

Juned also sharpened his gaze, and he was surprised. "That's a ghost.. gendruwo!"

"Kit-us.we go home only Ned. it's genderuwo!" udin said, his voice stammered.

"Huh! It's gendruwo across from it!" sahut Juned while grabbing the hilt of his machete.

 "But-but, but it's a ghost. and han-ghost.."

"Try me if you dare to come here! Let me poke all of you! So, let's get some bait!" exclamation Juned.

Apparently Juned's emotions had reached the crown, had been fishing for hours and had not been able to fish, instead disturbed by such subtle creatures, he thought. Juned was no longer concerned with the appearance of a very large genderuwo that covered the mercury lamp as high as about 4 meters more.

They continued fishing as if there was never anything. While Udin did not dare to raise his head at all, he just lowered his head. Ten minutes passed in silence. Long Udin was curious about the genderuwo as well, so he ventured to raise his head, and it turned out that the genderuwo was no longer there, the mercury lamp seemed to light up again. Udin breathed a sigh of relief.

 "Udah went his ghost.."

"Udah from earlier.." said Juned. "It's a coward, same kayak creature that must be brave, and if we dare, he will go. but if we are afraid, he will get closer..!"

"But it's a ghost! How do you defy him?" ask Udin.

"Humans are the most perfect creatures! And we still have God, you don't forget about it!"

Udin just silently confirmed Juned's words, maybe he was already scared first, because all this time he had never seen an apparition. The fishing event was resumed, although in fact Udin still felt anxious as well. He's trying to concentrate on the phosphorus at the end of his buoy.

But then the corner of his tail caught a movement across the river. Udin raised his head and was stunned. With the mercury lamp lighting across, Udin saw a very long object like a white cloth looking like it was flying over the riverbank across!

The long cloth darted rapidly towards the river's headwaters, and in an instant disappeared from sight. Although it was only a moment, but Udin could already guess what had just passed across it. His body felt shivering like it was cold, he subconsciously tightened his seat next to Juned.

"Ned.. you. You didn't see that one..?"

"Is it just a doank?!" juned replied, but his right hand still held the cleaver.

"The feeling from earlier we were disturbed mulu. where the fish do not get caught again." said Udin. "It turns out this place is horrified.."

"What is important is that we are here to fish and not to macem, that's all." replied Juned.

Udin tried to believe the words of his best friend, he also tried to stay calm and go back to fishing, even though his sitting position was still close to Juned. Unintentionally his gaze led to the middle of the river, but it was precisely then that he saw a female figure in white!

The figure of the woman floating one meter above the water surface in a standing position right in the middle of the river, her hair was long. Udin immediately stepped up in shock, and immediately embraced Juned, while Juned himself instead pointed his flashlight towards the female figure in the middle of the river.

And that's when the sound of giggling giggles, laughter that is very different from the laughter of any human in the world, really a very terrible laughter and can make people immediately faint.

But not with Juned, he pushed Udin who was embracing him, then grabbed his two-toed machete and stood on the edge of the water as he pointed his machete towards the female figure in the middle of the river, then he shouted out loud.

"Basic anj*ng brash female! From earlier I did not get fish, and you ngetawain me that?! Here you! Let me tear your mouth that laughs and keep it until your head breaks!"

Juned's screams echoed across the river, as if piercing the laughter of the creature. His anger really exploded now, he didn't care if the one he faced back then was a genie, he challenged it to a one-on-one duel!

But strangely, it was precisely the sound of laughter of the kunti getting slower, then the figure of the kuntilanak was seen flashing very quickly towards the upstream of the river. There was still the sound of his laughter in the distance slowly disappearing. Juned dropped himself and sat on the tarp, his breathing hunting, he grabbed a bottle of mineral water and downed it, Juned tried to defuse his explosive rage.

That's when one of the stalks of fishing rod in front of him suddenly darted about to go into the water. Juned swiftly jumped up and caught the joran and immediately pulled it quickly. It felt like there was a very heavy load at the end of the string, the orange stalk until it curved.

Juned rose to his feet and approached the water's edge, this time he was sure that there was a big fish eating his bait, so he continued to hold his finger firmly. The fight with the fish begins. Juned was confident in his strings and jorans, but he wasn't sure about his hook eyes that could break at any time, so he had to be careful.

Then the surface of the water seemed turbulent, a sign that the fish was approaching, but he was not willing to give up, so Juned continued to beat him with a pull-out method. Ten minutes later, the fish's movements began to weaken, and Juned dragged it to the riverbank.

"Lu hold the net, let me plunge into the water, the strings will not be strong if pulled up just like that." exclaimed Juned.

Udin quickly accepted the fishing rod, Juned plunged into the knee-deep water, and he began to hold the fish with his two hands and throw it towards the land. It appeared that a catfish as big as an adult's thigh was floundering on the dry land of the outskirts of Kali.

 "Yesse! Succeed! Yuhuu!!" shouted Juned.

"This is Ned's monster! Catfish monster! Haha.." said Udin.

Joned came out of the water and sat down near the big catfish. The length may be about 75 inches.

"This big fish can be lifted by the strings of the doank, must immediately break up." said Juned.

"Luckily you can think of it that way.I was just worried about breaking up from earlier.." continued Udin.

For a few minutes they are still chatting as if resting, conquering such a big fish certainly needs extra energy and high concentration, one little of course fish can escape. Looking at the look of satisfaction from their faces, now the sound of laughter began to be heard from them again.

And either coincidentally or it has arrived the fish meal, ten minutes later, replace the fish-drawn joran Udin, and again catfish that ate bait and successfully landed. Although smaller than the first one, only as big as an adult calf, but still including a large fish as well.

Within the next half hour, the two young men were like the harvest of fish, alternating their bait continued to be struck by fish. The horror and anger they had felt seemed to just disappear, changing their enthusiasm and high spirits again. They had forgotten the sightings they had seen.

Until finally, an hour after the first fish landed, they have caught four catfish, two cork fish and three males cork fish, the smallest size is the size of an adult's arm! But after that, the fish stopped eating, no more fish after half an hour of fishing.

"It is fortunate that we are today." said Udin.

"I've told you, this spot always has results, I have been fishing here several times, and the dapet is always big-gede gini.." continued Juned.

Udin remembered the sighting again. "When you came here, you also saw the kayak sighting?"

"Nothing. I rarely see such creatures.mancing until morning was rarely met.."

"That means I'm a bad person." said Udin.

"Maybe you need to be in trouble first. throw away the bad luck.hehe.." ledek Juned.

"That midnight flower bath is. haha.."

The two young men laughed together, forgetting the sighting. Half an hour later, they were still fishing while chatting, all the tension and fear had disappeared. But no fish caught the bait anymore, so they decided to end the fishing and start cleaning all the fishing gear.

That night they came home with nine big fish, of course this is a success for anglers. They are like the harvest of fish, and also the harvest of apparitions..
