The idea of going to Gita's mother's house came when Harris talked to Mar. At first he only thought about Chika and the status of the widower he was holding. But once thought there is more important than just status. Mother Gita herself does not know the fate that befell her only child.
The idea of Mar being possessed by Gita's spirit is just a theory and just a guess. Harris realized there was nothing certain about it. In fact, the sweet, long-haired figure of the Gita still lies unconscious. Harris wanted to visit and hear firsthand what her mother knew or thought.
