follow-through...

The black ship finally reached its end

his journey. The young men were laid, and a group of soldiers

lead them through the streets to the prison, where they will stay

until tomorrow. They are not crying or crying now, because they are

they have exceeded their fears. With a pale face and

with firm lips, they walked among the rows of Cretan houses, and

not looking to the right or to the left. The windows and doors are full

people who want to see them.

"It's a pity that such a brave young man

it became food for the Minotaur" some people said.

"Ah, such a beautiful girl it must be

met a very sad fate!" said someone else.

And now they pass near the gate

the palace, and in it stood King Minos himself, and his daughter Ariadne,

the most beautiful woman in Crete.

"Indeed, they are young people who

your majesty!" king says.

"Yes, it's too noble to feed

That vile minotaur" said Ariadne.

"The more noble, the better," said

king; "but none of them can be compared with

your missing brother, Androgeos."

Ariadne said nothing more; however

he thought that he had never seen anyone who was very similar to him

heroes like theseus the young. How tall he is, and how

his looks! How proud his eyes were, and how firm

the steps! There has never been anyone like him in Crete.

All night Ariadne lay awake

and think of an unrivalled hero, and grieve as he will

perish; and then he began to devise a plan for

set him free. At the beginning of the day he wakes up, and when everyone

asleep, he ran out of the palace and rushed to the prison. Because

she was the king's daughter, the warden opened the door at her request and allowed her to

go in. There sat seven young men and seven girls on the ground, but they did not

losing hope. He took Theseus aside and whispered

to him. He told her about the plan he had made for

save him; and Theseus promises him that, when he kills

Minotaur, she will take him away with her to Athens where he must

always stay with him. Then he gave her a sharp sword, and

hiding it under his cloak,

"And this ball of yarn

sutra," he said. "As soon as you get into the Labyrinth place

the monster was saved, fasten one end of the thread to the stone doorpost,

and then let go as you walk. When you've killed the Minotaur, the,

You just have to follow the thread and it will take you back to the door.

In the meantime I'll see that your ship is ready to sail, and then I

will be waiting for you at the Labyrinth door."

As soon as the sun rises the guards

came to lead the young prisoners to the Labyrinth. They don't see

the sword that Theseus had under his cloak, or the little silk ball that

held it in his closed hands. They lead the youth and

girl deep into the Labyrinth, circling to and fro, back and forth, a thousand times

different, until it seems certain that they can never find

way out again. Then the guards, through the secret passage only

they knew, came out and left them, as they had

leave before, to wander around until they are found by the Minotaur

the horrible.

"Stay close to me" said Theseus

to his friends, "and with the help of Athena who stayed at home

his temple in our own beautiful city, I'll save you."

Then he drew his sword and stood on

a narrow road ahead of them; and they all raised their hands and

pray to Athena.

For hours they stood there, no

heard any noise, and saw nothing but a high wall

smooth on both sides of the hallway and the calm blue sky was so high above

them. Then the girls sat on the ground and covered their faces

and sobbed, and said:

"Oh, that he will come and end

misery and our lives."

screams, low and faint as if far away. They listen and

immediately heard it again, a little louder and very fierce and terrible.

"Here we go! Here goes!" exclaims

Theseus; "and now for the fight!"

Then he shouted, so loud that

the walls of the Labyrinth answered back, and the voice was carried upwards into the sky and

out to the rocks and cliffs of the mountains. The Minotaur heard it, and

his screams grew louder with each passing moment.

"He's coming!" exclaim Theseus, and

he ran forward to meet the beast. Seven girls squealing,

but trying to stand up bravely and face their fate; and

the six youths stood together with sturdy teeth and fists

the clenched ones, ready to fight to the end.

Soon the Minotaur appeared, rushing down the hallway

towards Theseus, and the most terrible roar. He was twice as tall as

man, and his head is like a bull's head with a large sharp horn

and fiery eyes and mouths as big as lions; but the young men

unable to see the lower half of his body due to the cloud of dust he was lifting while

trotted. When he saw Theseus with the sword in his hand coming

to meet him, he stopped, because no one had ever faced him

like it was before. Then he lowered his head, and rushed over

forward, screaming. But Theseus jumped quickly to the side, and made

a sharp stab with his sword as he passed by, and cut off one of the legs

monsters on the knees.

The minotaur fell to the ground, roaring and groaning

and banging wildly with his horned head and fists like

fingernails; but Theseus nimbly ran towards him and thrust a sword

to his heart, and left again before the beast could

hurt her. A large stream of blood spurted from the wound, and soon the Minotaur

he turned his face to the sky and died.

Then the young men and women ran to

Theseus and kissed his hands and feet, and thanked him for

great deeds; and, as it was getting dark, Theseus commanded

they followed him while he wrapped the silk thread that would carry

they're out of the labyrinth. Through a thousand rooms, courts, and roads

winding, they left, and at midnight they arrived at the outer door and

seeing the city lying in the moonlight before them; and, just

a bit away, was the beach where the black ship was moored carrying

they're going to Crete. The door opened wide, and beside him stood Ariadne

awaiting them.

"The wind is calm, the sea is calm, and

his sailor was ready, "he whispered; and he held the arm of Theseus, and all

go together through the silent streets to the ship.

When dawn broke they were far out to sea,

and, looking back from the deck of the small ship, only the white peaks of the mountains

Crete is visible.

Minos, when she woke up from sleep, did not know

that the young men and girls had safely exited the Labyrinth. But

when Ariadne was nowhere to be found, she thought the robbers had taken her

go awayl. He sent soldiers to search for him among the hills and

the mountains, never dreamed that he was now on his way

towards the far away Athens.

A few days passed, and finally the seekers

go back and say that the princess could not be found where

pun. Then the king covered his head and wept, and said:

"Now, indeed, I'm losing everything

my treasure!"

King AEgeus of Athens

sitting day by day on a rock by the beach, watching and watching

if by chance he sees a ship coming from

south. Finally the ship with Theseus and his comrades floated in

before the eyes, but the ship was only carrying a black sail, because it was deep

their excitement the young men forgot to raise the white screen.

"Ouch! Ow hell! son's dead!" erang

AEgeus; and he fainted and fell into the sea and drowned. And sea

it was, from then until now, called by its name, the Aegean Sea.

Thus Theseus

the King of Athens.
