Chapter 21's
Hamburg, Germany, Asklepios Barmbek Clinic, October 19, 2016…
And when all those dreams end now…
A cold night in a luxurious classic room. No one except, all the equipment is installed in almost
all parts of my body. Either breathing apparatus, infusion needle, heart detector and various kinds of tools that I think are supporting my life so far. Waking up from a long sleep like a “Sleeping Beauty” story that I always hear nonstop. However, not a kiss of true love that I feel here, only faintly seen a woman with large framed glasses standing on the left side of the bed.
Slowly her smile became clear and with all that process, I began to be able to feel a gentle swipe at the back of my hand. Although in a body condition that is still numb and seems to have stayed in a dark place for so long, there is a slight sense of pain when light from dim lights on the ceiling enters through the retina
which makes me back to the closed for a moment.
Then all the memories started popping up one by one, like a movie playing and describing everything clearly. Like a story that has a variety of plot, arrived at a time where there was a scene that required me to stop
watching it because of fear is also a pain that is so great spread in the brain
and my chest. My heart skipped a beat, cold sweat ran all over the clothes and the woman, panicked to call out to me.
Within seconds, I could hear various sounds in this originally quiet room. The sound of the door being opened, followed by the whispers of several people entering the room, also the sound of rubber wheels squeaking and a faint heart rate. Not knowing what they were talking about but, at the same time, two cold metal objects suddenly touched my chest.
My body ached a little from being knocked down several times due to the sting but, slowly, I began to feel comfortable. It was as if a new life had entered all parts of my body and after it was all over, I just wanted to take a short nap with the slowly disappearing voices and the coming of the calm I was hoping for…

It might hurt a lot when you have to come back with all the memories
that's. But, a simple gift that came sooner two months from the timing of the decider, definitely scared off some of them a little…
“James?!”
Shock seemed to envelop Joo Da In when he entered the MRI room. His face was pale as he rebuked a bright blond foreign man.
“What do you mean with that all?[1]”
ask Da In in very fluent English.
“I don’t know but, this is like a miracle of God. You can see here.[2]”
The man named “James” immediately pulled Da In's hand and led him to the front of two side-by-side screens attached to the wall. For a moment he watched the screen, each of which displayed the structure of the bone and brain alternately.
“You can certainly see clearly, the bone that was previously shattered and caused paralysis that he had to endure for life. Everything looks good,” explains James, “and this..”.
Da In's view was shifted to follow the direction of showing James on the screen on the left side.
Not knowing what Da In felt after hearing all the explanations. He sat limply on a chair behind him and immediately made James take his eyes off the screen.
“Are you O.K?[3]”
For a moment, there was no reply from Da In who suddenly looked blankly and a worried look was clearly drawn from the face of James who was originally so carefree. But then he shook slowly.
“Bu, but, how about his memories? Is he...still losing it?[4]”
The question made James lethargic and nodded slowly. Silence, Da In also blinked quickly with an expression as well as a blank look. Till…
GECK! GECK! GECK!
Immediately the two looked at the door of the room that was now wide open. A bright red-haired nurse with her pale face entered hurriedly approached them.
“Patient dr. Joo Da In is conscious. He released all equipment me...”
“You prepare my equipment and take it there.”
James's orders instantly stunned the Nurse and could not finish all her sentences. Meanwhile, Da In who looked more shocked than before ran towards the elevator after exiting the room, followed by James who followed behind him with several nurses and doctors.
It's like taking a 30-minute nap like I used to. I got up and stood up, then smiled kindly at the four doctors as well as the six escorting nurses. I let them feel and examine my whole body until satisfied. Trying to stay calm after all these events and finally, there came a moment where
it's just me with Da In.
He seemed to be crying when he let go of his embrace because he saw my situation
which doesn't even look like it's been sleeping for years…
“Da In, I want us to go back to Korea and live like we used to,” Hyuk Jae said slowly.
A gentle smile was etched on Da In's face before he nodded slowly and hugged Hyuk Jae back who immediately replied to him.
