“Lyca."
Hearing her name being called, the girl immediately turned her body around.
Rud, her personal bodyguard and future husband approached her while brandishing a cell phone.
“Aitsports. You left it in the study,” Rud smiled.
"Basic forgetful," he sneered again.
Lyca laughed as she received the phone and put it in a bag.
“Thank you, Mas,” said.
Rud nodded and smiled back.
“Sama-sama. Let's get going. Studying diligently so that you quickly graduate and become a great doctor,” Rud shuffled Lyca's hair. The two of them walked towards the elevator of his apartment. There was a lecture today and Rud planned to deliver it.
“I pick up what time is it?” Rud looked at Jacob & co. Billionare watch that had a sweet horror in his hand.
“Looks like I'll be home by myself, Mas. I have practice until afternoon.”
The elevator doors opened, they then set foot into the basement where their car was parked.
“Cannot. I'll pick you up.”
“I'm not a child anymore, Mas.”
“That's it, more and more men will glance at you if you go home alone,” seductive Rud while heading to the steering chair.
Lyca laughed loudly while nodding her head. “What? Are you jealous?” goda Lyca chuckled amusedly.
“Well, I'm happy if you can move on from Anton,” Rud murmured. “You deserve to have the love of the man who truly loves you, Lyca.”
“You mean?”
Rud pengedik then smiled oddly at Lyca. Just like that, thousands of question marks piled up in Lyca's mind.
The girl has become sensitive to love since the failure of her first love.
"Lyca, have you forgotten Anton?"
Lyca.
Silence burst out, for a moment Lyca looked doubtful as the girl threw away her face to answer Rud's question.
“Entahlah. It's just, I still can't forget it. I still need time, Mas.”
Rud chuckled softly then refocused on his steering wheel.
The streets of London this time were pretty rough. Not too crowded and stuck like in Jakarta.
“Do not think of my words. Just walk like flowing water. Because everything needs to be processed. And that also applies to me.”
Lyca paused with a mouth that refused to comment.
The girl chose to be pensive while shifting towards the window. His two eyes moved to observe the stark streets of London.
“I don't want to hope much, Mas. Maybe one day we will find our soul mate. After all, Anton is married. And I don't want to be the third person among them.”
“There are still many possibilities. We also don't know what the future will look like. Or maybe you are even a match?” it was Rud who made Lyca's gaze return to him.
“Maybe,” kekeh Lyca impressed bitter. "If the universe blesses our relationship."
“Alex says they're all coming to London today. He has a public seminar invitation from your college. And he said, our wedding plans will be brought forward when he comes," Rud glanced at Lyca.
"You don't worry. I just want you to be happy. It's up to you to take where this wedding is,” explained Rud again.
“Jka you still love others, I know myself enough and will let you go for others you love" he added.
Lyca turned her head, at this moment she felt her lips were locked, even to say a single word.
“I just want you to be happy,” Rud added. “I don't intend to play wedding.”
Not playing with marriage?
Lyca again laughs incessantly, “What do you mean, Mas?” tanya Lyca was uncomfortable.
“Lyca, we both know, this marriage is by force. Not from the heart. You love others, and I love others too. But we both have no power to resist it. Therefore, to take care of you, to keep your feelings. I fully grant you freedom.”
Lyca. Slowly he felt his face heating up as a result of restraining the emotions that were suddenly present.
“Then why do we get married if it turns out Mas Rud can not accept me as a wife?”
“Like you, I can't refuse Baba and Anne's request either. Both of your parents. I thought of them as my own parents when my father died. However, I cannot lie to you, my feelings for Rosa have never diminished in the least, though now we are separated by distance and time.”
Right after Rud finished saying his words, Lyca's tears fell unstoppably again. The woman sobbed softly which made Rud turn to her in surprise.
“Lyca, why are you? Why are you crying?” Rud was about to pull over his car and wipe away Lyca's tears, but the girl dodged.
“Trust me, I will not restrain you, I will support your every decision. You don't have to worry about this marriage."
Lyca remained unmoved. He even escaped his gaze in the other direction as Rud approached and stared intently at his face.
“You don't even bother asking me how I feel, Mas?” lyca asked after they had been quiet for a while.
Rud let out a long sigh, “It feels like I didn't dare to ask you how you feel after getting you stuck in this marriage. This marriage will definitely hurt you so deeply. I'm sorry.”
Lyca laughed cynically. Laughing at Rud's baseless assumptions. Maybe they don't love each other now, but after they get married, can't they try to love each other?
He wants to get married once in a lifetime. And if it's like this? How is she different from a contract marriage?
Clearly this is tantamount to playing with the sacred promise of marriage? And Lyca hates that.
He did not want to repeat the same mistake when he helped trap Rianti. Thankfully, they fell in love with each other. But if it doesn't? They will be tormented for the rest of their lives.
But to say it to Rud, he was unable to. She no longer wants to be a woman begging for love.
Pretty much.
Quite once he dropped his pride for a man. Anton.
It will not happen again.
It never will.
Her pride formed a huge barrier wall to make her a tough woman. It is no longer a weak woman who can only beg for love in a man.
Lyca cupped her face for a moment, took a breath, and wiped away her tears. Trying to stop her crying immediately.
“Then? Where will this wedding take you, Mom? We can't possibly get divorced after one day of marriage?”
“For a while, live like this only, Lyca. I'll take care of you like a brother who looks after his sister. In the future, we'll see. I'm not sure about any of this either. You just go to college diligently, so that you soon graduate and become a great doctor.”
“Alright,” Lyca smile and open the car door. “Please get me here. I'll take a cab.”
"Lyca!"
Lyca closed the car door hard. Not paying attention to Rud's call. He ran while smothering his mouth. So that the stuffing does not come out. She was crying without a sound. Screaming without sound. Which only adds to his sadness.
Lord.
Only that name was what he could say.
Why does God give such painful punishment? As hard as she was, she was just a woman.
Lyca slumped, sitting on the sidewalk without regard to the sight of the one who was staring in wonder at her.
“God... Forgive me... Forgive all my sins, ” her softly while weeping.
"Mirgin. I'm sorry."
If only he could control his feelings first, perhaps this punishment would not come to him.
I am sure this is karma. Karma is walking towards him.
