You know, what stereotype I hated the most when I decided to study in the Department of History? Children of History said it was difficult to move on. They always remember the past. If a broken heart will be difficult.
I didn't believe in that stereotype. Difficult to move on? I've been heartbroken before and I'm fine after crying for a week. After that my life went on as usual. I'm stalking handsome guys again on social media. Accidentally cross paths with my ex I don't care. What is so hard to move on?
Well, that was before. That was before I knew Jevan, the guy I had been dating for the past year and had cheated on twice. I forgave her once, when she was caught cheating on her with Mila, a sexy dancer. Okay, I'm a moron for giving him a chance. But who would have the heart to see Jevan crying while apologizing and kneeling before me?
I think he's really sorry. I'm mistaken. Jean repeated the same thing. She is back in touch with another sexy dancer, Vanya. He managed to make me angry, disappointed and sad at the same time. There's no other way, I'm asking to break up. I don't want to repeat the same mistake of forgiving him.
For the umpteenth time I cried in front of my best friend Junot, whom I always went to when I was heartbroken. I heard him breathing heavily. He always does that every time I break up.
“This time who is it?” ask Junot. He never even knew my girlfriend's name. She didn't care because she knew that one day I would cry and name the person who broke my heart.
“Jevan,” I replied while sucking snot. “Checking.”
“Ck,” Junot clucked. “Why are you dating someone who cheats? Who was it last, Herman? He cheated on me too, right?”
“Hendra,” I said correcting. “Gue where to know will be cheated again, Jun!”
“Makanya pinteran.”
“Ish, entertain me cake!” my protest. “Gue again heavy heartbreak, know!”
“Kirana, how should I entertain you kayak? I'm sure in a week you'll be fine. It usually is.”
“But this is unusual, Jun! I'm really disappointed Jevan cheated on me.” I rubbed my tears violently. “But I actually still want to date her, Jun. She's so sweet to me!”
“Sinting!”
“Jun!” I hit Junot's arm that didn't seem to care about my story. “Among all my ex, Jevan is the sweetest. He knows my threat well. So this is a huge heartbreak for me! She cheated twice, same sexy dancer anyway!” I cried again.
“Yes that's why you broke up with him. You just need time to reset your brain, I'm sure a week is also enough. Most of the hobby of cheating is so what good. You can find another guy, come on!”
I'm shaking. “Nmobile. I was traumatized. I hate guys whose initials are J! Cheating hobby!”
Junot glares. “Heh, haphazardly! My initials are also J!”
“Yes except elo!”
Junot bobbing head. “Lo is very unstable anyway, Na? I said I wanted to date Jevan again, now I say I hate guys whose initials are J. It was your idol on campus named Javier right, his initials J too. I watch him play basketball almost every afternoon. What exactly do you want?”
“Gue is also confused.” I sucked my snot again. “Tissue dong, Jun! Snot me this much!”
“Aish, so slovenly anyway?” Junot thrust out the tissue that was nearby. I saw Madam Siti, ART Junot peeking out from behind the living room wall with a concerned look. “Lo want to drink? Mumpung noh Siti Mbak, let's takein.”
I'm nodding. “Bby.”
“Mbak Siti, please yes, make a sweet drink, this person's life is already bitter because of it,” Junot said to Mbak Siti who was shocked because she was caught feeling bad. He nodded and went straight back to prepare a drink.
“Lo does not have to do anything, you learn aja real, not the history of Indonesia more interesting to you than the history of romance lo?”
“Asem lo!” I punched Junot's arm again. I tried to calm myself down, trying not to remember the sweet memories with Jevan. It was so bitter to know that not only did I feel the memories myself, but Jevan also shared them with others.
My attempts to calm down failed. I cried again, getting louder. Junot again sighed and shook his head, not knowing how to deal with this heartless human.
The next day I went to college with a feigned heart. Though I still can not accept Jevan cheating with sexy dancer. That sweet moment that I should exclusively have with Jevan, I should share with that girl. Isha!
I walked at a rapid pace before the people around me realized that my eyes were careless. I seem to be overthinking. People may not care so much about my eyes. I'm just Kirana, the little-known Major in Historical Science.
I turned quickly in the corridor. But damn I accidentally hit someone. With my head down I apologized and wanted to rush off. Unfortunately, the person I accidentally bumped into actually blocked my path.
“Eit, where are you going?”
I automatically looked up. I saw a towering figure looking at me curiously. I know him as Juan, a fun-loving guy who flirts here and there. Again initials guy J!
“Eh, crying brother huh? How did his eyes go so easily?” ask Juan.
“No need to kepo,” tukasku judes.
“Don't be so fierce. Do you cry why? Just broke up?” juan again.
Geez, this kid's a real snitch. Though we do not know each other, I only know his name Juan because he is a popular student.
“Can not be anyway, do not need to be the same for people?” I said. “Mingg Gih.”
“Nmobile.” Juan shakes. “Please know first.”
“What?”
“Name. Tell me first what is the name of lo.”
“Ogah.” I tried to take another path to avoid Juan. But his long footsteps managed to block me again. “MINGGIR! I HATE THAT GUY J!!”
I unintentionally screamed and the people around me started focusing their attention on us. Ah, goddamn.
Juan smiles. “So you already know my name?” Juan didn't seem to have guessed I knew his name. “Oh, initials J yes, which makes your eyes carelessly like gini?”
“Please step aside, I'm again males, swear!” I pushed Juan slowly and made him step aside, and then went back in quick succession. Why the hell, early in the morning already bother? What happened to these guys with initials J? Why so much nyebelin?
This time Juan didn't stop me. He just stood there smiling to see me go. I don't know what he's thinking. I'd better not bother figuring out the contents of his head.
