Grandma's Story Part I

Dear Diary's,

A story from my grandmother that made me a little surprised and rethink.

Grandma's story contains ......

A few days later I, mom, dad, and Aira picked up Bang Ganjar at his house. Today we will take my brother to my house. Because tomorrow grandma has to go back to her hometown. Like the promise when Aunt Ria died, Bang Ganjar will be the adopted son of my family.

Arriving at Bang Ganjar's house, we went straight inside. The usually quiet house is now getting quieter. In the house today there is only a grandmother, Bang Ganjar, and household assistant.

The mist of sadness still enveloped the house. Even when we arrived, the windows and doors seemed to be tightly shut. An empty, uninhabited house.

Gts ... Gts ... Gts ...

Papa knocked on the door of the house. Get out the housekeeper and let us inside. Meanwhile, he immediately rushed to call grandma.

She went to the kitchen to prepare dinner for us all. Papa and Aira watch television in the living room. While I want to take a walk to see the photos of memories displayed on the wall of the family room.

The photos appear yellow due to age. The memories of this little family are on the wall. At first glance I feel the warmth of love between Aunt Ria and Om Yudi. Then my eyes focused on this little family photo consisting of a photo of Aunt Ria and Om Yudi on the left and right. Holding a little boy who does not want to be Bang Ganjar. The photo looks happy and I can feel it too.

Just then, I suddenly felt something behind me. Soon I might look back. And it was true that a white shadow was there. But I was too late to see it and the shadow disappeared.

I tried to find the shadow around. One corner of the room I searched. Room by room, the door I opened. But the shadow I did not find. I looked back at the photos on the wall of the family room.

Not long after. The sound of foot-banging was heard from the stairs. The distance between one step and the next is quite long.

- Yes ..... Tak ..... Tak ..... Ooh .. - -

"grandmother ...." I screamed when I found out that the footsteps belonged to Grandma.

"Grandmother stay in Jakarta alone Grandma." My love hugged Grandma.

"Grandma has to take care of the house, baby." Refuse grandma.

"When school holidays go to grandma's house." Grandma orders.

"Ready granny." I said followed by a nod of the head.

In the evening I accompanied my grandmother to pack the clothes she would bring back to the village. The moment I like the most is chatting with my grandmother in every activity she does. And this time while packing grandma tells about the family of Aunt Ria.

Tells the story of Aunt Ria's childhood and mama, their daily lives, and the wonderful memories of her childhood. Grandma also tells the love story between Aunt Ria and Om Yudi until their marriage. Said grandma love struggle Aunt Ria and Om Yudi heavy. After dating for about seven years, the two had to separate because of work. At the end of their love story, they get married.

"grandmother ... Can I ask you a question?" I asked a little doubt.

Grandma who was packing turned her head towards me while smiling and nodding.

"Tante Ria has how many children?"

Grandma stopped her activities. He frowned in surprise at my question.

"Right now is one, your brother Ganjar is." Answer grandma.

"Mrs grandma?" I can't believe it.

"Then who is that little boy who looks so much like Bang Ganjar?" My next.

"Grandma didn't lie to me, did she?" I looked into Grandma's eyes to make sure.

"Do you know where my son is?" Grandma smiled at me.

"Calista see for yourself, Grandma."

Grandma paused for a moment and looked at me. Leave the clothes that he will pack. He stood up and sat right next to me.

"So you inherited your grandfather's talent?" Guess grandma.

"What's grandpa's talent, Grandma?" I looked at my confused grandmother.

"You can see those who are invisible huh?" Grandma smile.

"Yes, your grandfather used to be just like you. Seeing, interacting even befriending the unseen."

Grandma breathed a long breath.

"And it turns out that talent is coming down to you, son." Grandma rubbed my head.

"Grandmother doesn't know that grandpa chose you as his successor."

"Does such an ability have to have a successor?"

"Grandmother doesn't know for sure, but it was when your grandfather was alive. He's always talking about his successor in our extended family."

"What's the reason Grandpa chose me?"

Grandma shook her head and still stroked my hair.

"Grandma doesn't know son. What is certain is that our special family member can be his successor."

"Is it hard being an indigo Grandmother?"

"Grandmother doesn't know. But your grandfather always used that ability for good. To help fellow humans or even help "those" who are confused go home."

"I mean "them" who's confused go home what's granny?"

Grandma smiled back at me.

"Kalista grandma says grandma doesn't know much about it, son." Grandma answered sadly.

"Maybe in the future you'll know better than grandma." Further.

"The ability you have is rare. Then use it as best you can to help those around you. Never use it wrong. Then you will bear the consequences yourself. You have to be wise from the very early on, son. So that in the future you can better understand this world."

I listened word for word to what Grandma said. Although there are only a few meanings that I can absorb into my brain and will always remember later. Understand the brain of a nine-year-old child who is required to think of something that is not in general.

"If you'd known since when did you get to see "them", son?" Grandma's question broke the silence.

"After I drowned Grandma. When I drowned I was taken to the bottom of the sea to meet the Queen Mother."

"Oh, so." Grandma nodded her head.

"Queen's Mother?" Grandma asked back.

"Yes ... The Queen Mother." Answer's short.

"Just like your sister used to talk about the Queen Mother."

Grandma's statement made my eyes perfectly round. I was surprised about Grandma's story just now.

"Is there a connection between my grandfather, Queen Mother, and my abilities?"

"Grandma doesn't know for sure Kalista." Again the grandmother's answer did not know the certainty.

"There may be a son."

"Grandmother is sure, as time goes by you will know everything."

The atmosphere of the room was silent again. We are busy with our own thoughts.

"Oh yes grandma. Grandma didn't answer my question." I remember a question at the beginning of our conversation.

Grandma frowned as if asking which question. I also understand Grandma forgot which question I meant.

"The question of how many children Aunt Ria nek." I repeated the question.

"Oh that's a kid."

Grandma was silent again. I concluded that Grandma would not answer my question.
