"Good morning ma'am" Sapa Mundika told her patient Ayu. The middle-aged woman he had saved and had called her Artika.
"Good afternoon Doc," Ayu pulled her originally sleeping body into a lean. He has been here for a week and thanks to a team of nurses and a beautiful doctor who at first glance similar to his cousin named Artika, he is more quickly recovered. Moreover, there is her husband, Randy who after getting the news that he was in an accident flew directly from Indonesia to Dubai to accompany and take care of all the administration needed by him.
"Good morning Mr. Randy," Mundika continued to greet the husband of his first patient visit today.
"Good morning Doctor" answered Randy.
"How's Mom doing now? Is it better condition?" Asked Mundika in a soft voice. He pulled the chair in the room and approached Ayu.
"Thank God, Doc," Ayu smiled back at Mundika. "I apologize at the time for calling the Doctor by the name of Artika because the doctor is quite similar to my cousin who left his parents' house 26 years ago after deciding to marry a man an Arab national unknown to our extended family. If he had a child, maybe his son would be your age..."
Mundika's heart momentarily became claustrophobic. He dared to conclude that the Artika in question was his own biological mother. How could? After twenty-five years of his life and getting married, his mother's past is revealed. Was this part of her test before marriage?
"Mom, would you like to tell me more about Mom's cousin Artika?" Mundika held back with all her might so that there was no crying greeting on the cheek. He desperately needs details of Ayu's version of the story to compare with his mother's and Mama Latifa's versions. "I'm intrigued by Mom's story that says I look like her."
Ayu also told everything smoothly as if Mundika was a reliable psychologist, however, his profession requires him to be a place of comfort and suggestion so that patients feel they can quickly recover from the disease suffered by them even though, he is not a perfect superhero. Behind the girl's face, her heart was pounding incoherently. Confused, sad, worried, and crying combined into one. He wanted to calm down before he asked his mother directly. Although the mother will certainly be silent a thousand languages as usual do not give any opinion because it has passed 26 years.
And here she is now soaking wet hugging a towel plus a scolding from her future husband, Mansoor. He recalled their first meeting which he thought was ridiculous as a magical bin.
"You seriously have to go to Indonesia?" Mansoor asked, looking at Mundika to make sure that the girl was serious about her determination. "You've never been there before..."
"I have to get there Mansoor to make sure of something. Convince myself of what's wrong with my mother, me, me, and my sister, so the Baba family, disliked us so much because my mother was Southeast Asian and many of them thought that some of these people were of a lower caste than Emirati or people The west in general. As far as my mother was Mansoor educated, she had worked as an Engineer at a baba-owned oil company before they were married..."
"I'm very important Mansoor, I want when I marry you there's no slanted talk about you marrying half an Emirati like me" Mundika's body trembled as if anger, disappointment, sadness and confusion mixed into one. "If you were in my position, you'd understand why I would do something like this. Living in your mother's obscure past as if intentionally covered makes you go awry in living it. Many questions have flashed through my mind all this time and it seems that the Almighty has given me permission to know everything. I accidentally met my mother's cousin, Mansoor."
"What's? Is that true? Is there such a coincidence?!" Mansoor who always prioritizes logic in every step he takes is no doubt surprised that coincidence is real. He recalled his initial meeting with the girl which was beyond his senses. Hey Mansoor, you're totally in line with Mundika thinking about the beginning of the meeting between you two right now.
"The reality is like that Mansoor!" Mundika's tone of voice changed slightly higher and no doubt made Mansoor surprised. He immediately shut his mouth and realized that he had been polite to Mansoor. "I'm sorry for being rude to you.." Mundika said softly. "I.., I just want to know and know my mom's grandparents Mansoor. I just want to say that I exist, Zayed exists and mom is fine too...," Her two beautiful eyes that were engraved with thin black eyeliner expanded a circle of clear liquid that was ready to break the horizon of the eye frame.
Mansoor took a deep breath. After previously he was made dizzy with the threat of delaying their marriage both from Mundika. Want it to feel he pulled Mundika's tiny body and held her tightly to make her calm. But he must be able to hold it because their relationship is not legal in the eyes of religion and state. He was eager to help Mundika but his father's orders were absolute especially regarding his job responsibilities as one of the officials in Dubai. He can not just go anywhere let alone this related to personal affairs. God, why are two months so long? Inner screaming. Should he hasten their marriage so that he can accompany Mundika to Indonesia without any worries about the safety of the girl?
"I can't accompany you to Indonesia to meet with your grandparents because of my responsibility for my work here..."
"Eh," Mundika looked up in disbelief at the answer from her fiance. The round of tears that he tried to endure finally shed flowing his reddish cheeks. If his fiancee alone did not support him, to whom else could he ask for help? Her parents? No way, brother? More unlikely.., herself? Is he able to do it alone while he needs a guardian who accompanies him if he wants to go far out of the UAE. Mansoor bin Maktoum was his only hope to help him. But the rejection from the man made him helpless.
"Unless..," Mansoor stopped his words while waiting for Mundika's response. Seeing the girl cry was such a rare sight, so beautiful beyond measure. Who would have thought that a Mundika bint Dalmouk who was so mighty in medicine had such a sweet weak side?
"Except what?" Mundika replied with a hoarse voice while trying to wipe away her tears. He has resigned because if alone he will not be able to get out of this country...
"Unless we do the marriage contract first in the near future so I have a reason for my father to accompany you to Indonesia, how?" Mansoor smiled triumphantly because it managed to make Mundika cornered and had no choice. You're a sly Mansoor! Use your power to suppress that girl!
