In the past, Tirta Gangga Park was a water park belonging to the Karangasem Kingdom built by King Karangasem named Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem Agung in 1946.
Tirta Gangga comes from the word “Tirta” which means holy water and the word “Gangga” which is the name of a holy river in India.
The purpose of the founder using the name is to state that this tourist park has holy water originating from the Ganges River and this park was also established as a form of respect to the people who follow Hinduism.
Tirta Gangga was built on an area of 1.2 hectares that extends from east to west in the rice fields. There are three buildings that become the dominance of the character, namely statues, pond buildings and plantation areas. All of these buildings have an implied meaning in them.
The water park is built with the concept of respecting the elements of the universe namely Bhur Bwah Swah, this sentence is sung in the prayers of Hindus in the puja Tri Sandya. The highest area is Swah. In this area there is a meditation area, under which there is a pool for children to swim. Four Versailles water towers. Also a lotus flower garden, Victoria.
The next level is the middle called Bwah. There is a large water tower of Nawa Sanga in the center of the complex surrounded by statues in the Mahabrata epic. The pool with the tower is joined by a large pool for swimming.
The bottom tier is called Bhur, a large pool on the left that is connected by two bridges and an area called Demon Island in the middle.
The pool containing the water tower is most crowded because visitors can walk like on water. There are many support poles with a tread safe enough for the size of a pair of legs that go around the pool. Make it easier to see rows of fish and greet them on the surface of the water. Hundreds of colorful goldfish must have swam up close to visitors, hoping to be fed. Its size is up to baby mammals. They continued to move agilely around the clear and quite cold pool water.
The natural condition of Tirta Gangga is very cool, this is because it is located at the foot of Mount Agung. The beauty and coolness of the location is what makes tourists comfortable and at home to linger visiting these attractions. The calm and peaceful atmosphere of Tirta Gangga is very suitable as a relief of fatigue and fatigue from the activities of exhausting life.
At the first gate, tourists will be greeted by statues lined up neatly like soldiers. Visitors can walk through the pool on foot over the pool with a walkway made of stone neatly arranged like a series of bridges. Tourists can take selfies with the background of the statues in the pool so that it looks more character.
Not far from the pool there is a park that has a water tower that is 10 meters high. This water tower is shaped like a temple roof. The water in the Tirta Gangga pool comes from a water source that even by local people is considered sacred and used for traditional ceremonial activities.
In addition to the pool that contains holy water, there is also a swimming pool that is intended for tourists. The pool used is a pool of water sanih (natural) which also has clear and fresh water. Swimming pools for children are distinguished by adults because the depth of the pool is different.
This water park was established by its founder to fulfill a promise to his ancestors who came from the Kingdom of Karangasem. He promised to preserve the culture of the Balinese people in this Indonesian country and this is the manifestation of that promise.
