Conversely, when we are sick, we should be patient for the pain that befalls us.

In addition, with this pain, of course, we realize that healthy pleasure is so valuable and healthy is a tremendous gift of God. As a believer, we should believe that there is wisdom behind the pain we experience.

In fact, all the circumstances of a Muslim contain good in it, both when healthy and when sick. Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam,

It is amazing the condition of a believer. The whole business is good. This is not to be found except in a believer. If he has fun, he is grateful. It was good for him. If he gets into trouble, he is patient. It was good for him.” (CHR. Muslims, no. 2999)

Nothing comes upon us except with His permission. We should understand that pain is a test and a trial of Allah Ta’ala. Therefore, we need to instill in ourselves, that there will be goodness and wisdom behind the calamity of pain. When pain befalls us, let us think well of Allah Ta’ala. The test of pain that we experience is a form of love of Allah Ta’ala to His servant. This is in line with the word of the Prophet of Allah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam,

If Allah loves a people then they will be tested” (HR. Ath-Thabrani in Mu’jamul Ausath, 3/302)
