Deva, a name that has lately filled the days of Kelvin. Although just sending messages and voice calls, but quite capable to be the reason Kelvin smiled. In fact, he could not wait to meet the woman face to face.
Maybe .. because he gives spirit when he is sick, so it is attached to the memory. And again, Deva was present when her heart was still broken. Maybe that makes his presence so memorable.
I don't know, whatever it is, it's clear Deva brings his own happiness to Kelvin.
Now, after two weeks of waiting, there is finally clarity about the gray longing. There was an appointment that was agreed last night, between her and Deva. Although his legs are not normal and still need the help of crutches, but Deva does not mind. There was no sign of the woman to be concerned about her pain at this time.
'Four o'clock I'm home from work. I'll just slide right there.'
For the umpteenth time Kelvin looked at the message from Deva. For the umpteenth time, the tip of his lips formed a smile arch. There was no shadow in his mind as to what Deva looked like, but Kelvin was convinced she was a woman with a kind personality. Evidenced by the way he spoke and sent messages in these two weeks.
"Still a long time," muttered Kelvin as his gaze switched on the digital clock on his phone screen.
It was still 03:00 in the afternoon, less than an hour away from the promised time. Ahh, it feels like the seconds and minutes of walking are longer than usual.
While waiting, Kelvin pegged back his appearance in front of the mirror, which had been prepared a while ago.
Plain white sweatshirt, it mixes with navy long shirt. His arm was rolled up to the elbow, revealing a silver-colored watch that was coiled around his left arm. While the bottom, jeans long color matching with the shirt.
"It's still handsome and charming even though the hair is pretty bad." Kelvin praised himself. Feeling satisfied with the appearance of her who is beautiful, which she believes can still attract the opposite sex.
After half an hour of waiting, Kelvin left also for a cafe not far from the hospital, where he was treated the other day. Kelvin is not alone, but escorted by Jason's personal driver.
All the way there, Kelvin never stopped smiling. In fact, who gave it just tall buildings and then tares the vehicle. Perhaps it was the Deva shadow that was the main influence.
Five minutes before the hour hand pointed right at the number four, Kelvin had already arrived at his destination. With the help of the driver, he got down and walked towards the door. His heart rate was already irregular at that time. His ability to seduce and date many women was smashed instantly. All Kelvin felt now was nervousness until he almost lost his confidence.
"You wait in the car! I can go in by myself" Kelvin said.
"Good, Sir. Be careful!"
After the driver got back to the car, Kelvin got into the cafe. His legs stepped limped, towards the table number 11—meja that had been agreed with Deva.
Shortly afterwards, Kelvin's gaze fell upon the straight-haired woman who was sitting behind him.
"It seems like I've seen it before. But, when?" inner Kelvin. He stopped his steps for a moment to stare at the woman's jelly that turned out to come first.
Because just looking at it is not enough to recognize the woman, Kelvin finally resumed his steps. One second, two seconds, up to Kelvin in front of him.
As soon as he saw, Kelvin's forehead frowned instantly. He was very surprised to see the woman who was now commenting on the big smile.
"Mom Alma." Kelvin said hello slowly, half in disbelief.
The woman who made the appointment with him, who now led him to sit down, was none other than Nurse Almaira D. Selviana. One of the nurses who took care of her the other day.
"Be careful!"
Deva's speech disperse Kelvin's shock, also a sense of disdain because it turns out Deva is a woman who was previously very respected. While the time of exchanging messages yesterday, he did not act respectfully.
"Don't call me ma'am, we're friends now, right? Not nurses and patients anymore" said Deva without fading his smile.
Kelvin smiled doubtfully. It was still awkward for him to act ordinary. Fortunately, the waiter arrived shortly after Kelvin sat down. So, there are other reasons to cover up nervousness.
"Almaira Deva Selviana, that's my name. Since college and until now I have been working, I use my first name as a nickname. But, family and close friends, always call me Deva." Deva spoke again, explaining the origins of his different name.
"How are you doing now?" tanya Deva melted the still awkward atmosphere.
"I .. good. Yes, even though the legs still hurt, but there's been a lot of progress."
"Thank God. I'm glad to hear it." Deva smile.
Shortly after, their order arrived. For a while, the two were preoccupied with drinks and snacks served, while calming the slightly raging feeling.
"Are you ..mm I mean you, who put a greeting card on my desk, in the hospital yesterday?" kelvin asked cautiously and was a bit nervous.
He was afraid of offending Deva, but on the other hand was also curious about it.
"M." Mmm." Mumbles quietly out of Deva's lips, accompanied by a friendly nod.
Kelvin immediately sipped his drink, as a diversion because he had not found the right word to say.
"After knowing the chronology of your accident, I immediately felt more sympathy. More than any other patient I've ever dealt with. You ... saved someone, it reminds me of my late father" Deva said.
This time, his smile was different, even with his eyes. It was as if it was a deep sadness.
Kelvin can catch that. In fact, in his heart there was now a pain that was present without being asked.
"I used to not be able to make you heal. He died one month after the incident. I don't want the same thing to happen to you, so .. I did it to encourage you. The one you saved a woman, which I guess .he was special to you. So, I chose flowers to include with the greeting card. I mean, so that you can feel that love is still there, even though the woman you consider special is already in people's hands" Deva continued.
Kelvin was silent. I don't know what feeling he feels now, because it turns out the flowers he received are not as special as his guess. The red rose is not a symbol of love or the like, but simply sympathy and encouragement.
"I'm sorry, I've gone too far to interfere with your privacy. I shouldn't have done that. But ... Since I know the reason for your accident, I can't forget it. I kept thinking about my own past" continued Deva with a lowered head. Intentionally to hide his sad face.
"Your father .. save who?" kelvin asked in a soft voice.
"I."
Kelvin took a deep breath. Until here he began to understand, why Deva is as sad as that. He must have felt guilty because he was the one who indirectly caused the death of the father.
"Actually ... I was almost healed at the time. But ... ah. What is clear from there I know, medical treatment alone is not enough to make someone recover. There must be support and encouragement from people around, so that in the self arises a strong urge to heal. And .. That's what I told you yesterday. I want there to be a strong push in yourself" Deva continued. He raised his face again, but repeatedly wiped the corner of his eye.
In fact, Kelvin was quite curious about the cause of Deva's father's death which he said was almost cured. But he was quiet first. It's too early to ask now.
"When did that happen? Has it been a while?" Kelvin asked while stealing a glance at Deva, and again found a wound that was so gaping.
"Very long. It happened when I was in 4th grade, and my sister was 3."
"Now they're okay, right? Your mother? Your sister?"
Deva did not answer. He even threw a sideways glance, as his hand gripped the stalk of the cup firmly.
Kelvin saw it all. He then thought .. There is something wrong with the Deva family. Other than the death of the father, there must be something else that made Deva like this now.
"Without a serious problem, it is impossible to sympathize with me to such an extent, because I am just a stranger who happens to be his patient. This status should not make him act outside of work, unless there is indeed a trauma that he has brought up until now. Ahh, Deva, I want to get to know more about you and your life," Kelvin thoughtfully as he watched Deva.
Seriate...
