It still feels like a dream to me. For, since a month and a half ago I have been a husband and head of the household. Marrying Aisyah Princess who was supposed to be my sister-in-law.
At our wedding that almost stepped on two months. I haven't touched my wife at all. To do my duty, to give him an inner living and to make him my whole being.
Maybe it's because I still can't accept the fact that I'm the one who's her husband now.
I always keep myself busy at the office. Departing early in the morning home at night. I did that ridiculous thing for almost two months. Even so, Aisyah was still being nice to me. She always did her duty as a wife. Preparing all my needs from head to toe. Not a single thing was missed.
Before the tragedy happened. Our relationship is fine. Like a sister-in-law and a sister-in-law. Maybe because of his age and my age which is quite far adrift. I was 25, while Aisyah was 28.
I used to call him Aisyah. When he and my brother were still in a ta'aruf relationship.
Compared to me, Bang Haikal was much more suited to be her husband. Sholehah women are more worthy to be with pious men, right?
But that reality is not true for me. I who can be spelled out and slengean is far from good words. Suddenly married Aisha. A gentle woman, meek, beautiful, and simple.
I will never forget that incident either. Where, when I suddenly had to marry Aisha Putri to replace my brother Haikal.
Flashback...
That day was December 12th last year.
"Bang, I didn't think, yeah. If today Abang wants to marry Kak Aisyah. In fact, it feels like just yesterday the same brother he was met," I told Bang Haikal, who was sitting next to me. He was busy memorizing the text of the ijab qobul, which was soon spoken in front of the witnesses.
When I look, Bang Haikal's face looks radiant and very clean. Maybe because he was diligent in ablution and never left the five prayers. That's why his face is so handsome.
I just feel envious sometimes...
Bang Haikal only put on a thin smile on his lips, then said, "Yes, Dar. Brother also did not expect, if soon Aisyah becomes brother's wife." I saw him sigh for a moment, before continuing his sentence. "When are you, Dar? You don't want to marry and be a priest to your wife?"
Bang Haikal has always been like that. He always urged me to catch up with him and get married.
'Who wants to marry, who tries? My girlfriend doesn't have. This brother? I like to joke, 'my mind calls.
Peeved and then I said, "Yeah, Bang, the insinuation is very intent, anyway? I know I'm single, you're getting married, again! Who wants to marry who tries? The goat? what's camel?"
Bang Haikal just chuckled at my grievances. "Yes, that's why find a girl who immediately wants to be married. If you can't date, like Aisyah's brother. Ta'aruf is better, can keep us from committing adultery before marriage. Do you mean by brother?" his great-grandson while punching my shoulder softly.
I'm mangosteen. "Ready, Mr. Ustadz. Ane will find a rich bini candidate Kak Aisyah. It's beautiful, simple, fine, perfect anyway!!" my shakes are accompanied by small ruckus.
Indeed, I cannot deny, if I want a wife like Aisyah. Luckily Bang Haikal was able to marry her. The ideal wife.
Bang Haikal smiled widely. "Yes, brother doain hope you can match with a woman like Aisyah. Let him guide you and change your slengean attitude. Let you be more responsible to yourself and others." Again he hugged me warmly.
I don't know why I feel, if his words are a trust that I have to live.
I reciprocated Bang Haikal's embrace was no less warm. We hugged each other tightly like we were reluctant to let go of each other.
"You have to promise your brother, if you're going to change for the better. Never stay in obligatory prayers, remember that!" Bang Haikal's words sounded serious.
Then, I felt something warm running down my shoulders, piercing through the clothes I was wearing.
Bang Haikal's body also shook, his shoulders up and down. It seems like she is crying right now.
In a hurry I unraveled our embrace. "Which cry?" I asked while looking at the wet face. The sadness was evident on Bang Haikal's face. Not imaginary, my bead warmed up to see it.
With the back of his hand, Bang Haikal wiped away the melted tears on his cheeks. "Maybe, you're just moved, Dar," he said. "Abang wants you to do all brother's messages. For one day you will also be married and a husband. You have a big and heavy burden on your shoulders," Bang Haikal said as he patted me on the shoulder.
For the sake of appreciating and honoring my brother's message, I can only nod. "In God, Bang. Haidar will want to continue pesen Abang," I said, then grabbed the hand of Bang Haikal. Hands that have taught me so much.
Bang Haikal grinned. "That's dong... This is just the brother," he cried who then embraced me again.
I returned Bang Haikal's embrace. The warm embrace I always get whenever I want.
"Ekhm! Is Haikal ready?" Suddenly the voice of the ruler who had been beside us interrupted Bang Haikal.
We immediately unraveled the embrace, then faced straight ahead, staring alternately at the ruler, Abah and future in-laws Bang Haikal.
"This is Allah I am ready, Sir," said Bang Haikal, who sounded nervous. The corner of my eye then glanced at him, there was a trace of anxiety imprinted on his face.
But, when I looked again, it turned out that his face was also a little pale and tense. His hands into my hands. His hands were cold as ice.
I flinched as I lowered my gaze onto Bang Haikal's palm. Pale and somewhat bluish. "What hurts? Is my hand cold this? Brother's face is also very high." I was worried, while staring alternately at the face and palm of Bang Haikal.
His lips reviewed a distinctive smile, then said, "Maybe my brother is just nervous, Dar." He patted the back of my hand which was still holding his hand.
I just nodded, trying to believe what he said. However, my confidence collapsed instantly as Bang Haikal suddenly groaned in pain.
"Aragh!"
My bead broke the pattern when I saw Bang Haikal grimacing while holding his left chest. He looked so tired that he lowered his head.
"But! A-abang why? Sick brother? Ki-we're going to the hospital, huh, Bang? We can continue the show if you are a bit better." I clearly felt panicked, seeing the state of my brother who continued to grimace like holding back pain.
I also saw sweat sweat pouring down his temple. In fact, the room we are occupying now is very cold. Bang Haikal's hands trembled violently. I swiftly spread my hand behind his shoulder. Support his body.
Bang Haikal did not answer me, he was actually beristighfar while holding his chest that might hurt. "Astaghfirullah... Astaghfirullah... Astaghfirullah hal'adhim..."
The deg! My feeling was suddenly bad. Don't let his heart disease recur. Nah! No way!
I shook my head many times, trying to get rid of bad and negative thoughts. Although I myself have seen Bang Haikal like this before. But I try to keep thinking positively. I hope my guess is wrong.
Witnesses, his future father-in-law, Abah, also the ruler, are now starting to panic. They're closing in on us.
"Dar, his collar is slightly open. Let your brother not get sultry." Abah told me to unbutton Bang Haikal's shirt, and without refuting I did so immediately. With tremors in my hands, I took off one of the buttons.
"Son... Nak Haikal's. You sick? Then we go to the hospital now. The qobulnya ijab can be delayed first. What matters is your health." This time I heard my brother's future in-laws asking as well as providing the right solution in my opinion.
He took off the peci on Bang Haikal's head and wiped the sweat that kept popping with tissue.
"Yes, kid, we better get to the hospital. Abah is afraid that your heart will recur" said Abah, who had been very worried about the condition of her firstborn. I saw his old eyes were red and teary.
Bang Haikal reviewed the smile, then shook his head. Maniknya. "Haikal, b-well, Bah. Ja—"
"Bang!"
"Goddess!"
