"Dad doesn't love me."
"Why can you say that?"
"Dad never wanted to spend time with me, and never allowed me to see him. You hated me a long time ago." Carver cried again. There was a sudden pain he felt in his heart. "I don't want to be with Dad. I just want to go with mom…"
The woman hugged him tightly, trying to calm the boy who was now in front of her.
"Listen to mom, baby. I don't hate you, and I don't want to spend time with you. I'm just fighting to protect you."
"Protect me?" Carver let go of his embrace and looked at his mother with a confused face.
"Yes, I'm trying to protect you. I stayed away from you and trying not to meet you was to keep you safe. To keep you safe, and always be by my father's side."
"I don't understand…"
"One day, you'll understand the situation. And if you want to spend a lot of time with me, then you have to be a little patient until I can really make sure you're safe."
"But, when? When can I spend so much time with my dad?"
"It's not long. I'm sure it is."
"Really?"
He nodded in agreement with his words. "Now, how about you go home and see Dad? I'm sure I've been waiting for you. I must be really worried about you because you've been gone too long."
"I don't want to." Carver shakes. "If I go home, then I'll never be able to see my mother again. If I go home, I won't be able to hug you again…"
"…I want to be here. I just want to be with mom."
"But if you're here, I'll be sad."
"I wanted to spend time with my dad, but I didn't want to part with my mom either. This is the first time we've met. I want to spend more time with my mom."
"You have to go home, baby…"
"Listen mother. Although we will never see each other again, my mother will always be by your side. I will always watch over you and make sure you are always happy. One day, there will be a time when we—you, father, and mother will unite. There will come a time when we will gather together as we should."
"really that? We're gonna get together?"
"Yes. I promise you, as long as you promise to come back to look after me, okay?" He held his pinky.
Carver nodded slowly. "All right, I promise."
Her tiny hand was raised, linking her little finger with a smile.
"Now wake up, baby…"
Pats!
Carver opened both of his eyes slowly. His gaze was blurry, it took him a while until he could actually see everything.
"Carver! Darling.." Baritone's a guy at the hearing. Simultaneously, Carver could vaguely see the silhouette of someone who was now staring at him.
"Carver.." Again, and this time he could see her figure clearly.
"Dad.." Carver said softly.
"Son.." Karl smiled and hugged the body of his recently unconscious son. "Thank God you're finally awake" he murmured with a relieved smile. Her tears dripped so hard on her.
Karl's voice of pleasure actually managed to make Nanny sleep disturbed. The woman opened her eyes, and was so shocked to see Karl hugging Carver who had regained consciousness.
"Young master.." Nanny gave a smile.
"Dad is very worried about your situation, son. Thank goodness you're okay. I'm really relieved."
