In his spare time, Zerin and Zidan go to an orphanage. Both are trying to find a suitable child to adopt. But they felt they could not find the child they were looking for.
"What about that one? He looks funny, doesn't he?" Zerin pointed at a child with curly hair.
"Yes, he's quite..." Zidan did not continue his words when he saw the curly-haired boy snatch another friend's toy. "I don't think so" he whispered, who immediately changed his mind.
"I just changed my mind, too" said Zerin. He and Zidan tried to observe the other children. But their hearts still feel there is no child suitable for adoption.
"What if he?" Zidan pointed at the stocky boy.
"He's funny. But I'm not sure" Zerin responded. He and Zidan decided to go home. They will try to find adopted children in other orphanages.
Now Zerin and Zidan are in the car. The two discussed the difficulty of finding a suitable child adopted.
"If we ignore all the criteria, it might be easy" Zerin said.
"You're right. The criticism is growing as we tell everything to the family. My parents want five to seven year olds. While your mother and Amira want children to be easy to make friends," said Zidan.
"Maybe we should continue tomorrow. I'm after this with an appointment with the patient" Zerin said as he examined the wrist-wrapped watch.
"I also have a two-hour surgery schedule." Zidan drove the car to Zerin's clinic. He took his wife to work first. Then he went to the hospital.
In this operation, Zidan had to deal with an elderly woman who had stage four cancer. The old woman was named Firda. He is ready to perform the operation.
Zidan then meets Firda. He was shocked to see who the old woman was. How not? Firda's son died as a result of Zidan's delay in the operation. To be honest, until now the guilt continues to haunt him.
Zidan breathed out of his mouth. He tries to behave normally. Now he is determined to help Firda as much as possible.
"Hows it? Are you ready for surgery?" ask Zidan gently.
Firda nodded and smiled. He said, "I'm ready, Doc."
"All right then. After getting anasthesia, you will be unconscious and undergo surgical removal of cancer cells. We will try our best" Zidan said with a smile.
After receiving treatment for anesthesia, Firda was operated on by Zidan and his medical colleagues. The operation time runs up to three hours. But fortunately Zidan managed to remove cancer cells from some parts of Firda's body.
Zidan grunted in relief. He felt he could pay for his mistake towards Firda's son three years ago.
Now Zidan was sitting in front of the room where Firda was. He held a glass of warm coffee.
Shortly after, a seven-year-old boy appeared from a distance. He looks like he's wearing a school uniform. Run towards the room where Firda is.
Zidan observed the boy named Defan. Until Defan finally approached.
"Is my grandmother in this room?" asked Defan with his innocent face.
"Is your grandmother Firda Larasati?" respond Zidan.
"Yes." Yeah." Defan nodded while holding the strap of the backpack.
"Your grandmother is inside. But-" Zidan's words came to a halt, as Defan rushed to enter the room. But the snooze was done because Zidan quickly stopped.
"Your grandmother is still unconscious. The situation in the operating room was also a bit messy. You can meet your grandmother when she's been transferred to the hospital room. Understood?" zidan. Talk carefully.
"But my grandmother didn't die, did she?" hatch Defan. Kids always talk without having to think twice.
Zidan chuckles. "No. He'll be healthy again. You can sit next to me if you want," he bargained as he patted the empty bench next to him.
"What's your name, by the way?" Zidan started the conversation.
"Defan Pratama's. But people often call me Defan" Defan said.
"Where's mom? Is he working?" ask Zidan curiously. Because he didn't see any adults coming with Defan.
"He left me a long time ago. Even before I left" Defan replied. He swung his two dangling legs. The bench that Defan was sitting on was indeed quite high.
"So... You just live with your grandmother?" Zidan. He looked at Defan with pity.
"Yes, just the two of us. That's why I'm worried that Grandma will come and leave me. But my grandmother said, if she leaves, I will stay with friends of my age. In a wider and more comfortable place" said Defan. He held her stomach back.
Zidan felt more compassion. He certainly understands Firda's plan. The old woman must have been planning to put Defan into an orphanage.
Zidan's mind instantly collapsed when he heard Defan's stomach. He smiled and immediately invited the boy to eat something.
Zidan took Defan to a diner near the hospital. There the boy was seen eating voraciously.
"Eat a lot. You don't have to be ashamed if you want to add more" said Zidan, who couldn't help but smile. Somehow he felt like he fell into Defan's charm. The boy was so innocent and independent. At the age of seven, he was used to going back to school by himself.
'I feel like he's the right kid. Defan is also an orphan, Zidan's inner self. His essence is inseparable from the figure of Defan who is fun to enjoy food.
While waiting for Firda to wake up, Zidan became the one who accompanied Defan. He used to come to Firda's room.
Zidan bought an expensive toy for Defan. Now he just gave the toy to Defan. They were sitting on the sofa in Firda's room.
"The cars are great, Doctor. You really bought it for me?" Defan pleasure. He looked at Zidan's purchasing toy with a feeling of admiration.
"Yes, of course. You're the only kids here. Where can I buy it for your grandmother" said Zidan. He chuckled with Defan.
Coinciding with that, Firda opened her eyes. He managed to see the togetherness of Zidan and Defan who look so familiar.
Firda smiled calmly. He immediately called Defan. His grandson automatically ran into his arms.
"Then I'd better just go" said Zidan. He moved out of the room.
Zidan reached into his white coat pocket. He took the cell phone from there. Then call Zerin.
"I think I've found the right kid to adopt!" zidan.
"really? Then I'll see you soon" said Zerin from across the phone.
"You can come here and see it. But before that, I have to talk to her grandmother first."
"He still has a family?"
"Yes. But her grandmother had cancer. I don't think his life will be long. He also just regained consciousness after surgery. I'll talk to that granny when things are really good."
"If it's like that, I'm sure he'll let us adopt his granddaughter." Zerin felt sure. The conversation and Zidan ended there.
