"If you don't mind making me your husband and father, I'll be very happy and grateful. I'll be grateful to you for accepting me as part of your little family. But if you stay strong on your side, assuming I'm just a friend, I won't force you either and we'll stay friends. Forever we'll be friends and I'll try to erode these feelings."
